Has anyone here seen it? The university where I live is putting it on this week and i went and saw it tonight. It was amazing and brought me to tears. After the performance the University's GSA had a talk back thing where we talked about how we felt about the issues brought up in the play.

I saw that. It was being performed at the community college near me a couple of years back. It actually brought me to tears. crying My favorite part definitely had to be when the crazy fundamentalists were picketing the funeral, and Matthew Shepard's friends dressed up like angels and blocked them from sight with their huge wings. heart

Not to sound ignorant or anything but what is the play about exactly?

To Luna Eclipse: That was my fav part too. It was just so...I dunno, wonderful and touching and creative. It brought me to tears, though slightly happy tears.

And don't feel ignorant. Lots of people don't know what it's about. Here's a synopsis: In 1998 Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old homosexual in Laramie, Wyoming was kidnapped, violently beaten and left tied to a fence post outside town. In the end he died. Moses Kaufman and the Tectonic Theatre Company went to Laramie and over the course of a year and a half they did 80 interviews about the case. The Laramie Project, a play written in documentary format, is the final product of those interviews.

I saw the movie. I have never seen it as an actual play. I missed my chance last month. Oh well. I'm sure I'll get a second shot.

It's a beautiful play. I highly suggest it to anyone who can go see it.

My school did it, last year. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the entire play. I only saw the Play Preview, during class. I wanted to see it though. I heard that people protested the play in some places, as well.
