On one of my recent jaunts around IMDB.com I stumbled on the 2008 release schedule and I found that they are making a new movie about the life of the Buddha, simply titled “Buddha”. It will be based on Thich Nhat Hanh’s book Old Path White Clouds, he will also write the screenplay for it. Filming begins this month and Indian born John Abraham will take the role of Prince Siddhartha the Buddha to be. I haven’t read Old Path White Clouds yet but I will definitely get my hands on a copy before seeing the film. I only hope that this movie will be of the same scale as the Passion of the Christ was and will be seen by more than just Buddhists. Official SiteIMDB entry

that filming is set to begin in November, now that November is here
perhaps some of us could pray for the well-being of the people working on
the film, and hope that some things aren't exaggerated too much. XD★★★

AWESOME! That book is one of my FAVOURITE Thich Naht Hanh books ever. I've read it repeatedly. It's a great retelling of the Buddha's life, and it's wonderful he's doing the screenplay for it as well! heart

This movie sounds like its going to be a good movie to represent buddhism in the film business.. not like "little buddha" , but i hope they stick to the real story and not tweak it.. too much hollywood is not good, if you know what i mean

I couldn't put it down once I started it. smile Im going to have to check this book out. Have you guys heard of a teacher by the name of Milarepa. Theres a book out on his life, he was a pracitioner of black magic and even commited murder but he changed his life when he discovered buddhism. In the end he died a saint. I haven't read the book yet but i know a little about him. I think it would be a good read for anyone that likes to read.
