I posted a question asking for peoples' opnions on what they thought Jesus was like as a teenager. If he was a typical teenage boy or if he was special in some way. Which brought someone to post this. flammer how DARE you mock Jesus by even posting (and thinking) something like that. I am not one to judge.....but the One who will is going to reject you by saying that he never knew you...just like you did to him...have you ever read Revelation(its the last book in the Bible)? you should.....and then tell me how you sleep at night. Now, being a fellow Christian I found this very...well...beyond rude and hurt I'd have to say preposterous! First off she says she isn't one to judge, but then she goes and judges anyway. That's a Christian no-no. Second, I wasn't mocking Jesus in any way shape or form. I just randomly thought "hmmm I wonder if Jesus masturbated or refused to clean his room ever" so I went and asked people what they thought. And third, I didn't post my opinion until after she posted so she certainly had no right to flame me saying I was going to be rejected and burn in Hell when she didn't even know my stand on it! Just more proof that people today are getting more aggressive and hateful towards each other over the little thing called religion. Especially those who pronounce love as the key ingredient of their religious beliefs!

(sniffles) This just makes me sad, ya know.
I guess many people do not wish to see Jesus as a simple, normal, everyday human being. And he was. He was human. And he did normal human stuff just like his fellows did during his time period. We can only speculate what 'a day in the life' might be like, though. I can understand why some more tight-fisted Christians would be upset by you even suggesting the idea that Jesus did normal teen boy stuff, especially that mastrurbation part.
Do not take it as proof that people today are more agressive and hateful. A single, personal experience does not prove anything. All it really says is that some people are defensive when things they hold dear are insulted (which was also exhibited in your own post, by the way).

I think it's really sad, that someone responded to your question like that. I can't see anything that seems insulting or offensive in asking about Jesus as a teenager. Jesus was a real person and it would really be interesting to know more about his responsiblities as a teen, when he began preaching, how his childhood was like and what kind of relationships he had to his mother, teachers and peers.

I really do wish people would be at least a little bit more open-minded. I understand the girl believes in this strongly, but if people could see that not everyone believes the same thing, and that no one ever will, it'd just make things a little bit less hostile. That's why I joined this guild. I understand (and love learning about) that other people believe different things. Everyone professes love and then insists that they're showing it through hate. Now...I admit, I can be quite a pain in the arse sometimes. But I do try to listen, understand, and change when I need to. I just wish that people wouldn't defend in such a mean way what they believe. Simply stating what they believe is enough in my opinion.

Where did you post this thread? Someplace like ED, or someplace more suitable for such a discussion (since I am one of the heavenly godsent mods, I will use the example of this fine and wonderful guild), such as this fine and wonderful abode that I affectionately call RTG?
If it was someplace like ED, I would say that is to be expected. It is quite sad though, that this type of s**t is to be expected.
As for this showing that people are becoming increasingly aggressive/defensively aggressive: I would bet that this flame was not done because someone felt strongly about such an issue, but that some a*****e felt that it would be fun to flame another person for the simple reason of flaming them.
(Now to go a little off topic) The question you asked is one that I, too, often pondered. I came to two conclusions: conclusion one, if Jesus was truly god on earth, then he commited no sin, ever. Conclusion two, if Jesus was not truly god on earth, then he commited a sin, at some point in his life.
How I came to that was, actually, just now through a simple analysis of God.
God is perfect, this perfection causes his inability to sin. Sin, for this argument's sake, is simply defined as a mistake. Perfection means no mistakes; thus perfection means no sins.
If Jesus commited no sins, he must have been perfect. For Jesus to be perfect, he must be God. Since Jesus physically lived, and was seen living his whole life on this planet by others, Jesus must have been on the earth. Therefore, if Jesus did not sin, he must have been God on earth.
If Jesus did sin, he was not perfect, therefore he was not God on earth.

Jesus was a teenager in his life. I've even wondered if he ever had a crush. He was human, and God made love for people. But then, maybe he loved everyone equally and never got into Romance. People need to see Jesus as a person, not some fairyland character from that book called the Bible. He is of course to be held with respect, but people should be able to know that Jesus was a teenager!

Yes, society(not depending on religion) needs social reform. So much so they I can barely stand to attend school. What would teenage Jesus do?

i think you should explain your point of view to that person. the person obviously made assumptions of your intent. explain yourself and hopefully that person will not jump to such conclusions again.

I did explain. She automatically apologized and asked to be friends but it made me think about how so many people jump to conclusions about other people before getting to know them. How many of you are Wiccans and when you say that people think "Oh my gosh! A witch! May the power of Christ compel you for you are evil-thinking!"? One of my best friends converted from Buddhist, to Christianity, to Wiccan (no clue what she is now, I just call her a trend-religionist/drifter) and she's an awesome person. Her views on politics and such are always well-backed, she's a very good listener, tries to keep her life clean but everyone thought she was some Satan worshipper (note: these people were definitely not educated in what religions believe what) and that what she believed was automatically condemning her to be a "bad person" just because it was different than their beliefs. We need more religious tolerance in the world crying

To some, Jesus is the figurehead of all that is light and holy. He is more than a human, to them. He is the very image and avatar of God himself. Therefore, seeing him as possibly anything less than absolute holiness is a great insult to them. No disrespect, but these people are the ones that I call "overlyanalaboutJesus" types. They are usually intolerant of anything aside Christianity, and probably harbour some twisted feelings toward other Christians as well. However, it is completely understandable that one would love Jesus to a point of over-protection.

it was an interesting question.. what was he like as a teen?
all we know is that he ignored his parents in order to stay on vacation in Jerusalem (which i always admored' it seems spunky).
otherwise we just have stuff from thoimas that seems so fake and make-believe, such as hoiw he built birds of clay and brought them to life.
