The orange and black rectangular tent that has been set up on the Western edge of the Village is huge, about the size of a dance hall. At around 4pm Halloween afternoon, the surrounding gates are removed and Halloween-themed music begins to play, drifting out to the village. Music Songs vary from classics like Monster Mash and Thriller, and the Ghostbusters theme to more modern things like music from Nightmare before Christmas. Some is less recognizable, but still certainly in the spirit of the holiday. Most of the music is dance-able, though is intersperced with slightly less holiday-themed soundtracks but with a better dance beat. Also intersperced to the shuffling music are songs that have particular animal themes to them, especially reflecting the array of the species represented by the islanders. Decorations Once you step inside, the theme of the Holiday is insecapable. While the basic layout is good for any party: The stereo equipment on a small stage at the far end of the tent, a large open area for dancing, tables and chairs near the edges, buffets lining the left wall, and speakers dotting the perimeter. A black tarp-like material lines the ground to keep peoples' feet from getting muddy on the soil underneath. However, fake spider webs cling to every corner - complete with plastic spiders, jack-o-lantern shaped orange lights provide the illumination. Black and orange balloons litter the dancefloor - and others with helium are tied to the backs of chairs or support poles. Other decorations hang from the edges of the tent - plastic skeletons, cut-out witches, paper spiders, jiggling ghosts, and red-eyed bats to name only a few. Each table has a centerpiece of a carved jack-o-lantern, and a pile of assorted candy. Food Long buffet Tables line the left edge of the tent. At the begining of each table is a stack of paper plates, plastic utensils, napkins and paper cups. Each of the tables has a "theme" to its food: Table 1: Meats! Many of them QUITE bloody. All of them finger-food sized, often with toothpicks in them. From innoculous items such as meatballs and chicken wings in a very red buffalo sauce, to body-part shaped thick slices of ham, to full turkey legs and cubed pieces of raw meat. Near the end of the table is a large bowl of actual toasted insects. There is also a punch bowl on this table filled with a bowl of what looks to all effects to be blood. ((And is.)) Table 2: Various halloween-themed finger foods: frozen grapes in a big bowl, potato chips that are in bone-shapes, Finger-sandwiches (shaped like fingers) - with ketchup for dipping sauce, "Frog's eye salad", toasted pumpkin seeds, red fruit jello (with strawberries in it) that looks like one of the lab gloves was used as a mold, and celerey pieces with peanut butter, dotted with raisens . Table 3: Desserts! Included in the selection are jack-o-lantern cookies, a large cake with a grinning, red-haired mad scientist on it, and piles of various types of wrapped candies. Table 4: Drinks! green punch in a cauldron with dry-ice to make it 'smoke'. There is also a wide array of alcohol that looks like it was brought over from the beach bar, with several bloody mary's already made up in glasses

Activities Available The tent is massive, and the large clearing in the middle provides ample room for dancing. The tables to the side with food also have room to mingle, or to find a table and chat and/or eat. However, there are the setups for other Halloween-themed activities available to anyone who takes the initiative: Karaoke Along with the stereo equipment is a karaoke machine and a microphone, with a MASSIVE listing of available songs to karaoke. When no one is actively karaoke-ing, the music filtering through the tent shuffles between dance music and Halloween-themed songs. Bobbing for Apples A large black "cauldron"-shaped tub is filled with water on the opposite end of the tent from the stage. Inside are all sorts of apples floating, ready for anyone to initiate the game. Other Games There is a table near the stereo equipment that has a small spirial-bound book with a list of party games, instructions, and what materials are required. Also on the table are a few pre-packaged games, like an Ouiji board, Twister, several playing card decks, and a Charades game. Besides the book are a few open boxes of the aformentioned materials. Wrap the Mummy Materials: Toilet Paper and a stop watch Teams group together to make the best "Mummy" from a member of their team and toilet paper. They work under a time limit and deal with tearing toilet paper to make the best-looking mummy. Pin the Face on the Jack-O-Lantern Materials: Pumpkins, blindfolds, and cut-out shapes There are about six plump pumpkins sitting nearby, and different face-parts made out of foam with pins sticking from the backs. Participants are blindfolded and set to make a face. Broomstick Limbo Materials: Broom Two participants hold the broom progressively lower as other players limbo underneath

OOC RULES, INFO, and GUIDELINES Please Read this Section! The Event will last from whenever the thread opens Friday evening till whenever activity peters out Tuesday night, October 31st. This relates to time in-character from early Halloween afternoon till early morning that night. ANNOUNCEMENT! Monday, October 30th, at 6:00pm CST, Sabin Duvert will run an IC mini-plot event-y thing. This will coincide to being 12 midnight at the party in-character. So take that into account if you are setting times. I hope that many of you can be there for it smile You are welcome to come and go as your time allows, but please, if you are going to go, temporarily write out your character for the scene for the sake of the other players ((pull them off to the side, send them back to their duplex for something, etc etc etc)). There is NO SET POSTING ORDER. It might be best to let things flow naturally - it's a party, and like at any party, there might be a few different conversations going on at once. Don't forget that Gaia now has dice rolling as an option for if you want to implement the games biggrin Keep in mind thread and character rules. They all still apply. The tent IS being monitered, etc. Have a Good Time!

The music was the first thing to draw Sayuri, rythmns, thudding beats and the occasional echoing 'spooky' sounds of Hallowe'en 'tunes. Then as she followed the sound, the strange boots allowing her to move soundlessly for once, the boots that were part of this costume - if you could call the collection of garments that barely covered her flesh that! - were surprisingly comfortable to her webbed feet. A breeze tugged on one of the flaps of the skirt, and she hastily brushed it down, moving towards the vast orange and black structure that she could now see. A path of sorts led to the entrance and she followed it, the music getting louder as she approached. Pushing between the flaps, she let out a small noise of astonishment at the size of the tent, the decorations and the tables groaning under the weight of food. She went in further, the whole place was empty of people so far, but she knew she had the right date. Well the less people the better. She had never felt so exposed, and had the costume not been sent to her by Sabin; well it was something she would never have ever considered wearing. She wandered over to the stage area, and peered in the large water filled cauldron, poking the floating apples. What were they in there for?

The large orange and black tent could hardly be missed, even from the window of Oz's duplex. After a mandatory shower - the tropic climate was making him sweat like a pig, not to mention smell like one too - Oz clambered into the gorilla suit sent over by Dr. Duvert, wearing only his boxer shorts underneath.
He hadn't bothered to unpack anything yet, since he expected to have a late night at the party. He had all the time in the world to make his duplex messy tomorrow. He found the lack of pockets in his costume annoying though, so he hooked them onto an old chain given to him by his sister. It was a touch tight now but at least he wouldn't lose his keys in the punch bowl or on the floor.
The mask was the last thing to be applied and then he shuffled out of the door and down the steps. He hadn't yet met his downstairs neighbour, but he imagined he'd meet them at the party. What a way to get acquainted! He could barely see a thing through the mask though, and thought maybe his vision was obscured when he entered the party tent and saw hardly anyone there.
Oz felt a little...well...stupid. But Dr. Duvert hadn't mentioned a start time, so he'd just ambled over as soon as he was ready. He was probably just early. But the other guest caught his attention immediately.
Wow
A Leiah outfit. He was gonna like this place. A lot. Thank heavens the mask hid the wide grin on his face. He walked over casually, watching the young woman inspect the cauldron.

Despite his seething hate for this place and what it stands for...he couldn't just pass up a Halloween party. Ever since he was a kid, it had been his favortie holiday. With a grin, he dons the hockey mask, tattered trenchcoat, and lifelike bloody chainsaw he had ordered a little while ago. He walks inside the large orange and black tent and winces some from the loud music.
Goddamn, I hope my hearing adjusts to this...
The first thing he notices though, is the smell...the smell of food. He quickly gravitates toward the large punchbowl filled with red liquid, not caring who else is there at the moment.

Sayuri's tail flicked, moving from side to side as she poked the apples, watching as they bobbed back up again to the water's surface each time. The novelty of that soon wore off and she turned away from it to be confronted by a giant..hairy - thing! She backed against the cauldron with a squeak and looked around to see if anyone had come in who could help her. Was this one of the Islanders in an advanced change? Her heart was beating fast in her chest, and she started to sidle around the apple bobbing cauldron very slowly..

Oz didn't see Tommy enter, but he was aware of someone else in the tent now and could just him moving straight for the food table. He glanced over. Aaaah, food. Oz hadn't eaten since lunchtime. Maybe after a few introductions, he'd go stuff his face.
That gorilla mask did him no favours by masking his friendly smile, but his eyes still said more than his smile would.
"You never played bobbing for apples before?" he asked Sayuri, but his words were heavily muffled. Her somewhat terrified response to his approach went un-noticed, or at least not qualified. Afterall, Oz was a big fellow and could be quite intimidating.

She was a far cry from the dithering child that had hidden under the table at last years halloween bash. Not only in looks but in confidence. When it had been announced there was to be a halloween party, she knew it, for a start this was of course an upside. A large package filled with silken fabric and lots of ruffles was quickly revealed to be a beautiful princessly dress, with a hole for her tail and everything. The little cheetah girl had recently found out how to place her hair up and more to the point how to create little ringletts by wrapping a few strands around one finger, holding it then letting it go. Her hair took well to a little curl.
As the coup de gras she had placed the tiny princessly tiarra upon her head and headed out of her duplex without a second thought. The door shut lightly behind her and she giggled lifting her skirts, as any princess knew how, before running towards the large orange and black tent excitedly.
Baby blue eyes took in the open tent happily, admireing the balloons, the decorations, taking in the scents of the food tables, her ears and tail twitching in time to the music. She couldn't help but smile her bright eyes sparkling happily the grin on her maw spreading ever further, if that was possible.
Halloween, how long ago it seemed last halloween was, how long ago it seemed that she could hardly bear to be around people. How long ago it seemed since she had been rescued. This was paradice and she could smell cake.

She stopped moving when the beast thing spoke to her, mutely shaking her head, the plait dancing along with her nerves. She figured it was words...or maybe he was saying in beast language that he was going to eat her! No - she had to calm down. She was being silly. Gripping onto the cauldrons edge so spoke, her voice quavering a little. 'I am sorry. I not understand.' She had yet to notice Tommy, but given her current state, that was probably for the good.

Tommy fumbled with his distended fingers to manipulate a cup into holding the blood for him. It takes him a moment, but he finally gets one filled. A lift of his mask and a quick move from his hand soon empties it though, and Tommy is left with a large smile on his face.
Oh God...this is so wrong but...goddamn it's so good.
He looks over to the two other occupants of the tent, and after hefting up his chainsaw, heads over in their direction.

Bobby was walking next to Pyroth in her skimpy dress. Her hair was disheveled as well as the coyote's fur. It wouldn't take much imagination to know what they were doing before the party. Add to that that Bobby had gone to his duplex early in the morning with costumes in hand... in hoof, that is.
She was proud to be walking next to him, a hoof tangled in a loose party of her dear Antony's robe. Once they got to the party, however, the pig immediately stepped back, her eyes wide in fear and embarrrassment. Bobby only saw one familiar face, even though that face was much more cheetah than before. She didn't want to be seen like this, how could she have been so stupid?
Her nostril's flared and a few frightened snorts could quietly be heard. "Pyroth...." Bobby mumbled, in need of comfort. She was looking around for a place to hide. Even the table of food didn't look too enticing.

Oz chuckled lightly and then removed his head-mask, although whether his crooked nose and excessive facial scars were any better than the mask was debatable.
"I said, have you ever bobbed for apples before? You seem a little...lost," he said more clearly now, with a mild British accent.
His accent was a little muddled at times, an influence from his time spent in university where he mixed with people from all over the country, and indeed the world. So he hadn't expected Sayuri to be either fluent in English or her native language. He took things as they came and she seemed to speak English quite well.
Oz edged a little closer to the rim of the cauldron, extending a furry arm to the water and poking an apple.
"You have to dunk your head into the water and try to grab an apple with your teeth. Watch, I'll show you," he said with an eager smile, thrusting the gorilla head-mask towards Sayuri and then promptly throwing his head into the water with a splash.
After whooshing around for a few moments, he flicked his head back up in victory, displaying his apple for all to see...only to be greeted by Tommy in his mask and wielding a chainsaw.
"WOAH!" he spluttered and spat the apple onto the floor.
