Yes, well, summer is creeping up on us, and many of the clothes I have are long-sleeved, and then I have a jacket, stockings, bloomers and peticoat... and it can get quite warm.

Does anyone have any ideas how to keep cool? I really need some help. sweatdrop

That's what I'm trying to figure out too. O.o; *can't stand heat* I'm guessing that, if you make your own clothes, it would help to use lighter, thin fabrics and light colors. I'm planning on making some summer dresses so I won't melt in the summer. >.<

I suppose you could get rid of some of the layers... like not wear the bloomers or the jacket...

Or you could do what I do and always stay in places with air conditioning. xd

I think I should come out with a summer loli line. I have a few loli clothes that are casual and they work out better for summer. I should show a picture of of a top that I wear with my other loli outfits. It ties behind your back and there are no sleeves so it cute and cool at the same time It's hard to wear full loli wear in the hot summer time though.... I live in Florida, sooo it's almost always hot. x_x;

A good idea for summer, if you make your own clothes, is to go down to a local thrift store, they usually have some cute sleeveless summer dresses. They could be altered easily by adding lace and ribbons. Also petticoats may not be best to wear in the summer, bloomers may be good though for protection if they're made out of a light fabric.

Also feet can be very uncomfortable in the summers heat with stockings and closed toe shoes. Mabey you could reinvent some cheap sandals with lace and mabey a bow! ^_^

Also bonnets can protect your head from the sun's rays. Also light colors that reflect the sun's heat, white, light pinks and blues. Whatever you prefer. Floral patterns are cute, and try not to wear dark colors. Thats especially uncomfortable in the sun.

Well I hope I've helped! ^_^ Have fun this summer.

well, a good idea wil be to dress up with short dresses with cherries draws for example ^^ they can be very cute ^^ you can also buy sandals with a lace that goes up in your leg and that you tie at the knees ^^

and then you can use the same complements that in winter but always in bright colours ^^

I think the summer is the time when wearing country would be better with the light colors.
Try to dress in lighter fabrics and colors. The heat also doesn't go well with books. Try wearing some sandals you may be able to find around. I know I saw cute sandals the other day. You might want to stay away from gloves and thigh high socks.
Staying in the shade is also a plus.

im just adding white lace to a bunch of corset tops. a few of them look semi-loli now. short skirts with petticoats work fine in the summer, anyway. i just skip the socks/stockings and wear ballet flats.

Thanks very much, everyone. Very helpful. I'll try to get over to Value Village as soon as I've saved up a bit of money. Then I can look around and see if they have any light clothes. 3nodding

I think probably one of the downfalls of lolita fashion is that it is very hard to be cool in the hot weather... I seem to have a weird sort of resistance to weather, so I never have to worry about the temperature problem...

actually wearing the heavier clothes.. isn't a bad idea if your a little heavy set, just make sure you drink enough water and sweat out the weight..

Actually, it's cooling down a bit now. It hasn't been so hot the past few days.

With luck, Vancouver will have a mostly cool summer.

I could just wear my Lolita outfits on the cool days. surprised

Here's an easy solution, wear sun-dresses. Sleeveless dresses with short skirts, made of thin material, but still Lolita. And Sun Hats to keep the sun off of your pretty faces. Its fairly simple to make Sun Dresses, actually. I can make them for really cheap, too. XD
