Yea this is seriously a debate on myspace. Is it a good or bad thing to have? Tell the pros and cons, where you stand, do you have one, have you had one, why did you get rid of it. So pretty much answer those quiestions. And this isn't biblical so this is pretty much just standards, convictions, and opinions so don't attack anyone for how they see things. Disagree, that's cool, that's what a debate is. But no attacking anyone, directly or indirectly. I'll post my views after a few people post.

I use myspace as a way to keep track of my friends, and I must admit, I do post in an Episcopal group on it too.
However, I would advise all you young'uns out there to be very careful because there are freaky freaky people on that site. Remember what your mama said about talking to strangers.

I was in Christian groups and I had it to keep in touch with friends. But after awhile I stopped using it really and just kind of had it and would just kinda refresh the page from time to time but never really posted anything. But I don't have a problem with it about the freaky freaky people. Because honestly if people where smarter when on the net you wouldn't have that problem. But I do know more and more people are getting on myspace and spending all their time on it. That's why I got rid of mine. I don't really do anything with it anymore but I use to be on it a lot, commenting pictures, commenting, messaging, and just surfing around myspace. I fasted from the computer before but as soon as I got back it was myspace again. I don't know, I just don't want to spend all my time on myspace anymore. And I know people who are like I never have time to read my bible or to pray anymore, but they'll find time to go to the library to get on the computer and to get on myspace. But they don't have time for bible reading or prayer. That's not cool, so that's why I'm getting rid of it. And all the bulletins that get posted is just stupid. So and so is going to come after me if I don't post this, or I'm going to have bad luck or a nonexisting love life if I don't post this is 0.9 seconds, or I don't believe in Jesus because I don't repost this bulletin and I only looked at it because it said "Free Nude Pics". I think the idea behind myspace was good but to what it is coming to, it's just almost retarded.

thats exactly how i feel, i feel that if people were samrt enough, you wouldn't have to worry as much about the freaks, but the time is just so addicting. i have never had one, but seen it, and all my friends are ADDICTED. they all say "hey, gaia, is just the same" but for me, like sara said, it pretty much has made me want to spend time with god. i don't like to be addicted to the computer, i feel scared when i become to addicted, like im losing my real life. but seeing so many people here that love god, have strong relationships w/ him and stuff, it makes me want to have that too. so i don't like myspace, it isn't what it was meant to be.....

My name is Dean, and I have a myspace... wait. This is a debate, not a 12-step program. My bad.
I have a myspace. I, personally, think myspace is fine, if people have good judgement. Unfortunately, most people don't. Conclusion: most people don't deserve to be on the Internet. You know who you are. Get off right now and go watch anime or something.... hehe. Just kidding.
I have a myspace mainly so I can check out other people's myspaces. If their profile is friends only, I need to be their friend to look at it, and therefore need a profile of my own. I like to visit music artists' spaces and look at their pictures and such, so again: I need a myspace. I have myspace out of necessity because most of the stuff I like involves myspace in one fore or another.
Is it bad in itself? Lord, no. It's just that many of its users don't make the best decisions on there. If you don't have the sense to not give out your address or phone number online, you don't need to be on myspace. Period. They might want to add that to their TOS: I promise not to be a dipweed and give people the means to hunt me down and kidnap me, nor will I post messages advocating the assassination of the President of the United States (since the latter will get you questioned by the Secret Service).
All the bad stuff you hear about myspace has nothing to do with the site itself, just the users on it who couldn't keep personal info to themselves. Myspace is just fine. It's the people on myspace who should be banned.

I wasn't talking about myspace in that sense about the freaks and stuff out there. If they wanted they could come on here and probably find just as easy prey. I was just talking in general about how people spend so much time on myspace and get addicted to. Like so many people do the internet in a whole.

Hah... almost attacked someone because I didn't fully read the first post. XP
I say its a waste of time. Sure, it may be beneficial to some people to FEEL purpose I mean, who wouldn't feel good if someone commented on your life from the journal thingy?
BTW, your post is biased.... the "I was just talking in general about how people spend so much time on myspace and get addicted to. Like so many people do the internet in a whole."
It seems like you've already made up your mind about myspace- the internet in general... although that's a broad statement.
( Gah, I can't help not attacking! >.< I mean after all, that's what debates are. >.> )

People do spend a bunch of time on myspace. How is that baised? I know people who spend 9 hours at a time on myspace. That is not a biased statement at all. I know there are people who do use myspace as a way for business and publicity(sp?). That's a different story but you get 8yrs who spend 5 hours a day on myspace. What does an 8yr old need a myspace for? What does an 8yr old need internet access for? A lot of people spend way too much time on the internet and yes there are a lot of people who are addicted to myspace, that isn't a lie either. And my post was to defend where I stand in the debate, again where's is that wrong? Aren't I suppose to defend where I stand on a subject in a debate and my views on it? Sense when is that wrong in a debate. I could say your post is biased because you say it's a whole waste of time.
And if you can't help attacking simply don't post. What you said about my post being biased in an attempt to attack was completely uncalled for wasn't it? You can dispute you think my opinion is biased then provided proof to back it up but in what you said my sense of my opinion to be biased so would yours, ok so yea long post to just to make my point...On a roll with long post tonight >.<
EDIT: Also in my post I didn't say all people. Just people. And there are people who spend too much time on the net, on myspace, and are addicted to it. Again I can provide proof for this.

Hello- it kinda looked like you skipped over something...
The topic says is it good or bad that myspace blah blah blah...
The statement that she made about myspace to someone, I don't want to look it up... she had already made up her mind about whether myspace was bad.Quote: I could say your post is biased because you say its a whole waste of time. Well, by a strange and odd property we call transitive, then I suppose that your post is also biased... by your defenition. How would that give me a particular tendency?
What's the point of a debate when you aren't allowed to "attack"? It would just become a simple, front general page discussion. Not a debate.
But the quote was from BandFreakJo's post, not yours... she was the OP, and that's what I was responding to- her stance in the "debate".Scratch that- I thought BandFreakJo was the OP. >.> My bad. ( the reason why I scratch is that so I can be accountable of my own mistakes, not for intentional dissings.. and stuff. )

Myspace isn't bad at all, the parents are the wrong ones. They need to teach their kids about internet safety. Now I'm not saying they should know the password to their kids myspace account, but just teach proper safety and it's all good. I mean if people would keep their profiles on private and only talk to friends then everything would be ok, but parents don't teach about that stuff.

I in no way blame myspace for kids being abducted or anything. That's parents and the kids fault for not being more careful like people warn them. I just meant in the fact how some people get addicted or spend all their time on it. And for people who like go to school and then come home and get on myspace then go to bed...Maybe get some tv time in.
