who: DracoXK's Aki & Trelweny's Topanga
where: clear waters around a coral reef (I may go into more detail on this later. biggrin )
when: midday; sometime when Yunalesca is still a baby.
what: *shifty eyes* That's what we'll see, isn't it?The sun shone through the clear water, sparkling like liquid light all the way to the brightly colored reef. Topanga swam alone, basking in the warmth & light. Elanorriel had suggested that she spend some time alone -away from her two tank sisters. With the little one's precociousness that was indeed a tempting offer. Her sister was better equipped to handle Yunalesca's rebelling. Neither adult understood the little one's aparent need to buck the system, but Topanga would get so dumbfounded at it that she was little good for anything when it came to "parenting" their young tank sister.
So it was that she happened to be swimming here alone. Topanga searched out the warmest patches of water-fractured light to swim through. Sometimes she made a game of it & tried to swim only in a particularly bright shaft all the way up, then all the way down. Mostly, she was leisurely & simply enjoying her day away.
However, it was quite lonely on her own & Topanga found herself hoping someone would come along to ease her boredom.

Aki swam around. He was looking for some new friends to make. He was zig zaging in the water of a new place to in the big tank.
"hello?" he called out wondering if he was alone

The female had been about to start humming to herself when she heard an unfamiliar voice call out. Sure, most voices were unfamiliar to her. Even though she was the eldest of her tankmates, she was still quite young. Dropping her "games" with the sunlight Topanga swam in the direction of the voice.
"Hello!" She called ahead cheerfully, excited that she would get to meet someone new. "Lovely day for a swim, isn't it?"

Aki fallowed the voice and saw a pretty clown lady. "why hello! and yes it is a pretty day for a swim!" he smiled at her. "would you like to join me? Or i could join you!"

"Were you going anywhere? I wasn't. Not really." She giggled a little. What a silly thing to say, 'Panga!
"I'd be delighted to swim with you." The clownfish swam closer, her smile warm. "By the way... I'm Topanga."

"No i was not going any where... i was just trying to get some company..." he smiled at her. "oh yeah! I am Aki! Do you know anywhere here for a good swim? i am not familar with this area to well. Or we could jsut explor, togther."

"I think El wanted me to have time alone, but I prefer company." Her eyes smiled, showing how pleased she was to have company. "Pleased to meet'cha, Aki!"
"And no.. I don't really know any of the areas around here." Topanga looked a little embarrassed at such a lack. "I've been enjoying my swim so far, but exploring together... that sounds exciting!"
She looked around through the clear blue water & down at the reef below. "But where shall we start?"

"The pleasure is all mine.How about down my the reef first? i like to swim by them." he offered his arm to the other. "well for me time alone means time with people other then my tank mates, so maybe that is what they ment?" he said. he swiled at Topanga "I am not big on time alone, just time with people i do not see often"

"That sounds great!" Blushing a little, Topanga accepted his offer with a light touch of her fin. Except for Kumori, she had only physical contact with her tank-sisters & blood family. Of course, most everyone she had met seemed to be family. "Maybe..." She pondered the possibility thoughtfully as they swam closer to the reef. "I don't really like being alone either. Comes from being the first fish in my home, I guess. So maybe El was thinking about that. Elanorriel can be pretty wise when she wants to be. Normally when I leave our tank I run into family." She chuckled & her eyes twinkled a little. "I seem to have a lot of family... & I've not even run into my da or my sisters since I hatched."
Topanga realized she was chattering again & blushed even more. Maybe it's not just family... maybe it's just being around others that gets me talking. "um... do you have very many tankmates?"

Aki was smileing and nodding the whole Time Topangs chatted. "I have no direct family, though i would love one. I do not get out of my tank much, it is normly pretty hectic and i am one of the people in charge." Aki was smiling and enjoying Topanga's chatter. he though on a moment about his tank mates, "yes i believe i do have a lot... We just had a few babies and have a few eggs floating around now as well. i believe around 33? give or take a few. What about you? you have a lot of family, but what about all who live in you tank"

"33?" Topanga stopped swimming for a moment. If her fin had not been on Aki's she might have forgotten to start again. "Wow... I don't even think everyone in the house adds up that high." She gave a shaky laugh. "I can imagine being in charge of that many would be hectic. And I can hardly deal with one headstrong baby!" She shook her head, both in wonder at Aki's ability & shame at her own ineptitude. "You've 11 times as many in your tank as I've in mine. There's just me, Elanorriel & the baby, Yunalesca. She's a fin-full but..."
Again she shook her head as her words trailed off. "33?"
She smiled in awe. "You sure you want family on top of all that?"

"Oh i am not the only one in chagre, that would be just crazy. Most of the parents watch over thrie own children. Us others just watch after things when it gets out of control. Most know to behave." she smiled at Topanga sweetly, "yes i would want a family to call my own. Though our tank has quite a few in it, i know there are fuller tanks out there. So there are only 3 of you? we have never had less then 6. It just grew from there."
He took her closer to the reef swimming around what looked to be a garden, "wow this is beautiful!"

"Only three." She nodded, looking away for a second wondering at the sweetness in his smile. Was it coincidence that he smiled so talking of a family? She laughed & thought little more about it. "Actually, I was alone for quite some time then Trel got Yun as a spawn from a friend one day & El the next & that's how it's been."
Topanga gasped joyously at the colors before them. She had been paying more attention to the conversation than their goal, & had missed the changing intensity of the reef's colors. Now they practically pulsed with vibrant hues. And the garden... well, it seemed very romantic to Topanga. "Very! I didn't expect anything like this." She soaked in the sight as they swam around. "It looks remarkably like the gardens Trelweny keeps outside our window, in a way. I never knew... "
A pleasant little sigh escaped her.

"At least you have a few to keep you company now. I know I love having others around. I think alone time can be needed, but i like haveing a few around at some time. Which is why i do not mind so many in my tank. I wish my owner kept us by a garden. Though our tank is big enough we should just grow one in the tank. But this, it is beautiful." Much like you he though, but as he just met this one he did not want to say it out loud. He was enjoying talking to this one very much.
Aki reached down and pick a beautiful piece of flowery plant and offered it to Topanga, "A pretty for a pretty?"

"The window was the safest place... so her son couldn't reach us."
Topanga took the flower gingerly, admiring its beauty while at the same time... "Thank you, Aki." She blushed, looking from the flower to the beta before her. "Do you.. do you really think so? That I'm pretty?"
