so like i was going through all my old writtings and i came across this one that i did... and it got me thinking... so im ganna post it cause i think it will get everyone else thinking as well... dunno i might add on to it
How real is magic? Its in every religion no matter how you look at it, from the miracles of Jesus to the voodoo of the medicine man. There is magic, weather its making the blind man see or curing another man to a strange disease. In some cases its evil to use this “magic” in the wrong deities name. in others it would be evil to use this magic for personal gain, yet others see it as a loaded gun and that it is not that magic that is evil, but the wielder of it that is. In Christian religion to use magic would be evil, but to perform a miracle would be some divine intervention from God. But how much do the two really differ? In one you are casting a simple spell which by your will it will work, mixing potions for love, hate, and jealously. And in the other you are asking for Gods help to perform a some great feat in which you will cure the sick

i heard magic defined once as "effecting a change" i reckon that covers just about everything from getting dressed to taking a poop, to making dinner, to wish magic etc. for me magic is an ongoing daily activity. i have to realize that life is change and magic is at the heart of it, making magic and life interchangeable words. i try to be positive etc in order to produce good changes. everything in my life is magic. (anyone seen the fellows in white coats yet???)

Aaaw Kimiko that is such a beautiful point of view!
To me magic is often that force you cannot explain. I know thats a really broad view but I think that helps to keep magic a personal thing...which is really what it is.

Magic, to me, is anythign that mooves me greatly. This could be a friend of mine playign the piano (and holy crap is he good at it!) and seeing the joy that he gets out of it, or playing my flute and experiancing that same joy. It could be dance, art, poetry, math, garbage, or a lightening storm in a book that I read. It could be being in that lightnening storm! What I'm saying is, if I feel it, it's magic. And I agree with Kimiko and Iryn. Magic is just so much to so many people!

Harnessing (unseen?) energy and focusing it towards a goal to aid in making changes.... that is magic.
That said, birthing my son was magical, not magic specifically, but magical.
It is the difference between specifically directing it yourself or something wonderful that seems to just happen.

Magic, to me, is will. If you will something to be so, it can be. Magic is all around and very common to me. Magic is the air we breathe and the words we speak.

I've heard it described as "probability enhancement." Or the actions that you perform to enhance the chances that something will happen. That could be just about anything...*shrugs* I dunno.

I believe in different kinds of magic:
white: basically healing
blue: basically weather and trickery
red: basically destruction
green: basically nature
black: basically death decay and necromancy
what is called miracles is actually magic
now the magic i practice doesnt come from me it comes the earth it self i have the ability to do that i dont know if anyone else does but if ur cuious pm me

How I define magic is many layered and it can be hard for me sometimes to lay that out. I often use the general Crowlean definition of course, as it is a common standard among Neopagans and occultists alike. In the broader sense, though, I actually don't distinguish too much between magic, the divine, and the sacred.

Roranvosegras: Those classifications sound a lot like "Magic: The Gathering". Coinsidence or did you coin it from that? Why must black be death/decay/necromancy/"evil"? The black side of a Yin-Yang is female energy, so does that make Woman evil? I think not! Even if Pandora did open the box...
Red. Fire. Fire can be healing. Ever heard of the Pheonix? True, its flames do destroy, but doesn't all healing magic? You "destroy" the affliction in order to heal yourself.
AmyFry: Oh! That's an even better way to put it. The little things hat make life so enjoyable are magical not magic its self. I like that. ^_^ So, does that mean that magic is something you bring onto yourself?

roranvosegras Hey Ever try what they discribe? I don't doubt it could work as a system, but I have no plans on using it. I use an elemental system more accurate to the original Greek model and ascribe colors based upon both personal correspondences and reserach into color theory and color psychology. For example, I could never see white as just healing or black as just decay. Those colors mean so much more than that! wink
