Background: Lupinus was the son of great Moon Court warrior, Dentatus, and his mate Specus. He was 7 years old when the curse struck, in the midst of his early training to follow in his father's footsteps as Alpha Hunter of the Court. As a teen boy, he is began to develop into the warrior his father was known for being. When he reached adulthood, the true warrior emerged.

Personality: Lupinus was a predatory boy with a love of the hunt and a need to be dominant among his peers. He is not quick to temper, but instead has a cool head in combat and difficult situations. His is calculating and clever when it comes to reading "prey". Although a bit sulky and solitary at times, like a wolf, he seeks others to be part of his "pack" mentality. He has Alpha tendencies.

Dear Angua,

I saw this plushie, and I thought that perhaps Lupinus would be amused by it. I apologize if the gift is a bit presumptuous, but perhaps it'll give him a smile?

Sajhiri
A strange, strange missive was received by Angua von Uberwald, requesting her presence in an odd place. The ancient tower of the Silva Regia in the deep forests of Gaia would have been unfindable by normal folk. Only strict directions to its location could lead another there. And so it was that Angua arrived on the doorstep of Doctor Sajhiri Jihaar.

The doctor explained to the other woman about her possible fey blood, how if she was truly possessed of it she could cross through the fairy ring in the tower's center into Tir Nan Og, and follow the pull of her spirit towards the cursed child's prison whose family blood she descended from.

She told her of the sacrifice of a small bit of soul and a small bit of life essence to break the curse itself, and how should she choose to save them from their dreadful fate, that child would become her responsibility.

So it was that Angua crossed the threshold of the mushroom ring and appeared in the meadow of the Fey realm, and how her spirit was drawn towards the darker of the two castles, Castellum Umbra, the castle of the Moon Court.

From the shadows of the castle courtyard emerged a figure, pale of flesh and dark of hair, with the universe visible swirling in her ebon locks. Star-laden violet eyes looked over the new arrival and Sajhiri with a frightening sort of elation in their depths.

"Another in one day, dearest Sajhiri? Your skill in finding fey Kin is truly astounding." Her iridescent wings flickered behind her in the starlight.

Sajhiri bowed low to the fey woman. "Yes Majestrix...the lady Angua has come to seek her blood."

Nox turned her gaze to Angua and smiled, a cool smile reminiscent of an autumn night. "Then welcome, child. Follow the pull of your blood...it shall lead thee to the prison of thine ancestor."

Angua von Uberwald
Angua approached nervously, temporarily held in place by the fey woman's violet gaze. She took a breath and tried to steady herself as she heard the Majestrix begin to speak, though she felt she could lose herself in this strange place.

Taking her cue from Sajhiri's actions, Angua bowed as well, her eyes lowered respectfully. "Thank you... Majestrix."

Closing her eyes, she did feel a pull. She stepped forward and inside the castle. Once inside, she had to stop and orient herself, but the pulling feeling became more insistant, and Angua kept walking. She turned corners blindly, becoming completely lost in minutes, and finally came to a large room that looked as if it hadn't been used in some time, covered in dust.

Sajhiri
Inside the long abandoned room, which thusfar had escaped the fervent cleaning of the Seneschal, Corvus, dust clung to the posts of iron beds, their linens and straw mattresses decayed away over the millenium.

Against the walls were fallen the metal heads of spears of many sizes and shapes, their wooden hafts having been eaten away by insects and small rodents over the centuries.

Moth eaten tapestries hung between each bunk, the vague depictions of war scenes almost discernible in the faded threads.

At the end of what was obviously an abandoned barracks of some sort stood a stained glass window, depicting the howling head of a dark furred wolf.

Something from within it seemed to beckon, and to demand to be touched.

Angua von Uberwald
Angua stepped into the center of the room and found herself standing in the center of the barracks. Her attention was momentarily caught by the worn and eaten hangings, but then she felt herself pulled toward the back of the room. She walked until she stood in front of a large window. Looking at the image, Angua didn't even notice that she was reaching out her hands. Her fingers brushed against the glass, wiping away some of the dust; her head felt fuzzy as she set her palm against the window's surface.

Sajhiri
As Angua touched the window with her fingertips, inside her head a strange, genderless voice, ethereal and cool, spoke.

"Do you, Angua von Uberwald, give freely of your spirit and essence, to free Lupinus, son of Dentatus and Specus, of his dread curse?"

Angua von Uberwald
Angua took an involuntary step back from the window as she heard the voice inside her head, looking around as if she thought she could locate the speaker. Returning her gaze to the window, she replied, "Yes. I do. I freely give this to free Lupinus."

Sajhiri
With the words spoken and the will committed, a strange sensation could be felt by Angua...that of some part of her vacating her body and sinking instead into the stained glass of the window.

A black stain began to grow across the panels making up the wolf's head, which poured out onto the floor like an inky waterfall of thick, viscous liquid.

There it pooled, until from it's depths a hand emerged, then an arm, and slowly something crawled from the blackness onto the barracks floor. It was coated in the ichor as it knelt, panting, then in an instant the blackness was gone, leaving behind an exhausted fey child, a thick black wolf's tail curled about himself protectively.

Angua von Uberwald
Angua started at the window as she felt something leaving her. She moved back slowly as the black liquid poured from the panels. Kneeling, she watched as it formed the shape of a small boy. This is what she had come for, to save him... she reached out a tentative hand and touched the child's hair. Then, moving closer, she gathered the child into her arms, lifting him away from the dirty ground, and looked down at Lupinus.

Sajhiri
Back in the courtyard, Nox looked triumphant. "Yes! The first of my warriors is free at last! Soon...soon we shall make ourselves known...soon we shall bring pain to the Sun Court and make them pay for their foolishness!" Her laughter echoed malevolently into the night air.

Lupinus looked around his room and sighed. It looked so... so empty and boring, even with the things he'd dragged in from the close, unused rooms. His bed, now with washed sheets and blankets, stood in the center of the room. The worn hangings over the windows let quite a bit of sunlight in, but he would have preferred a bit more shadow.

A small wooden table was in the far corner, three chairs seated around it. He'd taken some small shelves from the room across the hall, and those Angua had helped him place against the wall. But what he really wanted were some crates or extra blankets, or maybe both.

He had vague memories of building forts and playing in the forests, how he would try to hide when his father was teaching him to hunt, and how his father never minded as long as Lupinus could hide his trail effectively. It was their game... to see how long he could hide himself. His father. Lupinus had thought of nothing else on that first night he had been freed from the window. Where had everyone gone? He could hardly remember that they'd ever existed, though he'd tried hard to recall details. Angua said that he might remember more as time went on, but he wasn't sure. How did he know if they'd ever really existed? Maybe he'd always lived inside the glass...

But he never could brood on things for long; maybe his Kithain would take him outside today. Angua said that there was another child in the castle, with another Kithain, and she wanted him to meet her. He'd been too tired at first, but now he was starting to want to play with someone his own age. Pulling at the top blanket from his bed, Lupinus hung the edge over a chair, creating a small, dark den. He curled up on the floor and fell asleep.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 26, 2004 4:34 pm

Lupinus was bored. He knew there were others in the castle, but he had yet to meet them. Angua said that today or tomorrow he would meet Aranea, and she was still working on finding other Kithain to talk to. He hoped she'd be back soon. He dragged some furniture around his room again, or at least whatever he could budge on his own, which wasn't much.

He gave up and adjusted the blankets and chair that made up his "den". The large bed in his room was just too big for him to feel comfortable in, when all he really wanted was a small, dark space to curl up in to sleep. Looking around, he went and got the toys Angua had given him. The plush toys he piled inside his den. The rest of his room was for playing, the bed for jumping on.

Lupinus looked at the door that led into the hall, which was slightly ajar. He'd tried to explore the castle a little already, but almost became lost. He was determined to find new things to see and do, though he was still sometimes unsure what was actually real. Sometimes he woke up thinking he was disappearing; sometimes he felt as if he were paralyzed, as if he'd turned to glass again. Those were stupid dreams anyway, no one could know about them, they'd think he was a baby. He'd be fine...

Too restless to stay stuck in his room any longer, he decided to give exploring another try and went into the hall, closing his door behind him.

Kamiki walked through the hollow corridors with Vulpina close at her side. The fox fey held a peice of parchment and a tack in her hand, a message written across it in the best calligraphy the young woman could manage.

They got to the heavy door and Kamiki looked down at her daughter expectantly.

Vulpina ran a hand through her hair then pinned the paper to it, looking to Kamiki as if she was doing it okay. Kamiki nodded with satisfaction. "Its due time to meet some of your peers."

Vulpina nodded, read over the note once more, and turned to head back to her chambers, Kamiki following.

The Note
Dear Sir Lupinus,

My name is Vulpina, Fey of the Moon Court. We have just started to emerge again from the curse, and I do believe it would be appropiate for us to meet, and perhaps become allies. If you feel the same way, I extend the invintation to have to you come by my chambers.

I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Vulpina

Roleplay Session Summary

Plot: Lupinus meets Aranea
Participants: Lupinus and Aranea

Angua von Uberwald
Lupinus had been exploring hallway after hallway, and he'd finally circled back toward his room when he saw Aranea's door. He remembered it, because he'd gotten his Kithain to show him where it was; he was good at creating mental maps, he'd discovered, something that was proving useful already. If he knew his way around better than Angua, she wouldn't be able to follow him when he wanted to explore. He walked up to Aranea's door and knocked once, thinking of how long it had been since he'd seen another Fey as he waited.

Sayuri_Nitta
Aranea looked up from where she had been coaxing a spider into a glass jar, and at her movement it scuttled away. She put the jar down on her armoire with small bang, walking over to her door, Opening it a mere crack, she peered out, then pulled it open more when she saw it was another Fey.
'Yes?' she demanded, brushing her fine hair out of her face.

Angua von Uberwald
Lifting his chin, Lupinus regarded the girl in silence, wondering why exactly he was here anyway. His tail lashed impatiently, and he replied, "I'm Lupinus. Heard about you the other day. Got nothing else to do." He stepped forward, peering over her shoulder. "Can I come in?"

Sayuri_Nitta
'I guess so..' she said, opening the door enough to let him in. She regarded him coolly, shutting the door behind him and walking over to the tall oak bookshelf that dominated one side of her bed-chambers. In front of it were two carved chairs, with thickly stuffed cushions on each seat. They were arranged by a table, it was covered in papers and books on alchemy. She hurried over to the table, tidying things from prying eyes. Turning back to him, two hands on her hips, and another entwined in her hair, she watched him with crimson eyes.
'I am Aranea.'

Angua von Uberwald
Entering the room, Lupinus watched as Aranea rearranged things on her table, mostly papers and books from what he could see. She was looking at him with the same, cool expression he'd been attempting, he noticed; his left hand traced the fur lining on his collar, and he stared back at her. When she told him her name, he nodded, and pointed to her now-tidied table.

"What's that stuff for? Books and things." He paused, then thought to ask, "And where'd you get books anyway? I couldn't find any."

Not that he'd looked very hard... in fact, he hadn't thought of looking for books at all until just now; he had a vague memory of someone trying to make him read, and himself arguing he didn't want to.

Sayuri_Nitta
She sat on one of the seats, giving him a little motion that meant he could do the same if he wanted.
'I'm - studying,' she said simply, not entirely sure how much she should tell him.
'My library was stocked by my Kithain.'

Angua von Uberwald
Seating himself in the other chair, Lupinus wrinkled his nose. Studying meant sitting at a table for a long time when all you really wanted to do was go outside and run... didn't it?

"Oh. What are you studying? Is it boring?"

Sayuri_Nitta
'If you must know I'm studying alchemy,' she said, sounding peevish.
'It isnt boring at all,' she went on.
'I'm doing this for the Majestrix - my work is of great import.' she said, a trace of pride in her voice.

Angua von Uberwald
Lupinus grinned. "Well, it sounds boring," he remarked, having only a vague idea of what alchemy was. "Would rather be hunting any day, instead of stuck inside." Shrugging, he shifted in the chair, folding his legs under him. "So what's so important about it? And when did you see the Majestrix?"

Sayuri_Nitta
'Majestrix said my work would be used to overthrow the Sun Court or something,' she said, idly swinging her legs. Plans, and subterfuge were all a little over her head still.
'And she gave me an audience a few days ago,' she nodded, a faint blush colouring her cheeks. She didnt mention that whilst exploring she had blundered into Nox's chambers.
'What do you like doing thats so much fun then?' she challenged.

Angua von Uberwald
An audience? Impressed in spite of himself, Lupinus had to ask, "What else did she say? Will there be a battle?" Battles sounded exciting, he thought.

To her question, he thought a moment and replied, "Like to hunt. Outside. And tracking," he added as an afterthought. "Guess I study that. Sounds more fun than books, though."

Sayuri_Nitta
'Just something about how we would eradicate them when our numbers were strong enough,' she said, thinking back to the meeting.
'Just because you dont understand something, doesnt make it boring,' she huffed. Then she gifted him with a tiny smile;
'Are you - a good hunter?' she appreciated the act of hunting, simply because of who her totem was, and the affinity she felt with spiders.

Angua von Uberwald
Lupinus nodded, trying to appear knowledgable. "Sounds like battles then."
Though the conversation had turned to a topic he knew something of, he didn't quite know how to reply. "Guess I'm good at it," he said at last. "M'dad was the best hunter ever. That's how I want to be." An idea came to him then, and he asked, "You think if I get really good at it the Majestrix would want me to help her, too?"

Sayuri_Nitta
She nodded a little. Truthfully she didnt know for sure, but from what she knew so far it seemed likely that all their skills would be useful.
'I would think so,' she said. She looked at him for a long moment.
'You remember your father?' she asked delicately. Alot of her past was still a thick fog to her.

Angua von Uberwald
"I don't know... a little. No one else, though." He only had vague memories of his father, and how he'd looked up to him. Lots of people had looked up to his father, he thought, or they should have, he thought.
"Is there anyone else in the castle, 'sides the Majestrix?"

Sayuri_Nitta
'I dont remember anyone,' she mumbled softly, her face darkening as though a cloud had passed over her. She brushed strands of hair from her face, and shrugged a little. She didnt want to fall into self-pity and she looked at Lupinus again.
'I have seen no one but yourself and the Majestrix. We can't be the only ones though can we?'

Angua von Uberwald
Not remembering anyone would be strange, he thought-- but then, he wasn't much better off himself. If remembering someone he'd never see again made him better off; maybe it did, though, because it was something.
He shrugged in reply to her question. "Dunno. S'probably more here somewhere. I was exploring, but I didn't find much yet." He tugged on one of his braids as he looked around the room. "Want to come along next time I explore?"

Sayuri_Nitta
'Did you find anything interesting in your exploration?' She had not done much exploring after stumbling into the Majestrix's chambers, and she only tended to leave her chambers to visit the laboratory in the basement. She nodded;
'Why would you ask me along?' she asked, tugging on her hair.
'Sure I'm not too studious to hang around with you?' she said, a faint smirk on her face.

Angua von Uberwald
"Nothing that interesting yet. I want to find the armory." He'd been a little wary of returning to the barracks, where he'd been freed from the curse, if only because the windows there still made him somewhat uneasy; but, he did want to prove to himself he could do it, and there ought to be some sort of weapon cache there. "Also want to explore the forests," he added, and raised an eyebrow. "You don't have to come, then, if you don't want to. I'm sure I can find someone else."

Sayuri_Nitta
'I could go I guess,' she hadnt ventured outside of the walls either, so maybe seeing the forest would be - interesting? Besides she might be able to find a fresh supply of Deadly Nightshade.
'I havent seen the armoury. Are you good - with weapons?'

Angua von Uberwald
"Oh, well... I'll find it soon enough. He nodded in response to her question. "I think I am. With a bow, I mean. If I can find one, I'll find out. And maybe we can find someone else to explore the forest with us." He had a thought, then, and added, "But maybe I should talk to the Majestrix first." He wouldn't want to get her angry with him already. Not that he'd stay indoors anyway, he thought; he didn't think he could stand that.

Sayuri_Nitta
'That might be a good idea.' she nodded, closing her eyes a moment, her long lashes touching against her pale cheeks. She opened her eyes and looked at him thoughtfully.
'I can make you something that will help you with your hunting.' she said, leaning forwards and speaking in an undertone.
'Something for your arrows.' she smiled wickedly.

Angua von Uberwald
Lupinus leaned closer, intrigued. "Something to help with my hunting? What kind of thing?" He glanced at the table; he was speaking quietly as well, and raised his voice a little.
"Is this something to do with your... your alchemy things?" He smiled. "Maybe that isn't so boring after all."

Sayuri_Nitta
'Well,' she said, interlacing the fingers of two hands and leaning on the table between them. Her cobweb thread fine hair fell about her face, casting shadows so that her eyes seemed to glow.
'I'm working on a way to en-venom spiders that dont have a deadly bite. Giving them deadly poison, poison that merely renders one unconscious - that sort of thing. I could let you have some of my extracts for your arrowheads. That way even if you merely only graze your prey they will still have fallen.' she pushed her hair from her face, sitting back and looking away.
'It might be good that you use them - for me anyway. I have yet to field test my toxins. Well except for when I sent my Kithain to sleep but I could not test anything deadly on her. She did release me after all,' she said, a wrinkling appearing on her forehead. She turned to him again.
'This interests you then?' she hoped he would agree.

Angua von Uberwald
He listened intently, very interested. He was becoming more comfortable with interacting with another Fey, and his thoughts were coming together more clearly. Working together, they could be much, much more dangerous, and would be of great use to the Majestrix, he was sure. If he helped to test these poisons, they could be perfected and used in battles--for surely the Sun Court didn't have anything like this, did they?

Nodding, he tried not to sound too eager as he replied, "Yes, it does interest me." Noting her expression as she mentioned her Kithain, he added, "Does your Kithain realize you put her to sleep? Not that I imagine it would be difficult to keep her from realizing it."

Sayuri_Nitta
'She thought she had simply passed out from fatigue,' she said with a mirthless little grin.
'Well if you come with me to the laboratory I can give you some small phials of the stuff I've already made.' she slipped off her chair, her feet making soft slapping noises against the stone floor. She turned back at the door to see if he was coming.

Angua von Uberwald
The ability to make another pass out and be none the wiser as to what had happened... that was impressive, he thought. Nodding, he said, "Sure," and jumped off the chair. He hit the floor almost silently--he'd have to work on that-- and padded after her. "Do you also study antidotes for your potions?"

Sayuri_Nitta
'I do, in case one of our Court were to inadvertently be given the toxins. Plus I need them for my Kithain, in case she reacts badly to something.' she pulled open her chamber door, and slipped outside into the corridor, leading the way to the lab.

Angua von Uberwald
"Yes, of course." He paused a moment. "It must be useful to have such a convenient test subject," he added, watching her as he followed her into the corridor. Closing the door behind him, he quickened his pace to match hers as they headed for the lab. He thought about poisons, and resolved to find a bow and arrows at the next possible opportunity.

Sayuri_Nitta
Aranea nodded, leading the way down the stairs to the basement. Their footsteps echoed about them, and the air was cold. She showed him into the laboratory that she had started clearing up. A great deal of the dust had been cleared, and the broken tubes and containers had been replaced. Going around the largest table she sorted through the labelled vials placed there.
'Lets see,' she mused out loud, pulling out the small lab journal she had started.
'Just working out what I have the most of, and what I'd like to see results on.' she explained to Lupinus.

Angua von Uberwald
Lupinus waited, impatient to find a bow and try out both his hunting skills and the poisons. He made mental notes of the way to the basement and the laboratory for future reference as he watched her sorting through her vials. "Ought to be going soon," he said.

Sayuri_Nitta
Aranea nodded, picking up three black glass vials. She rounded the table and showed them to him;
'These are each labelled. One is a paralysis toxin, one is a sleep and paralysis, and the other is a slow working poison. The poison kills so be very careful with it!' she admonished.
'I have antidotes for all three but still.' she turned the vials around.
'The poison is clearly labelled so you cant really get them mixed up. The other two wear off after a time so if you accidentally administer them to yourself - or your Kithain its not such a tragedy. I need to know how much poison kills. Say one coating or two? I think the least amount might only make a person very ill - so I really need to know that. I also need to know how quick acting the paralysis and sleep-paralysis toxins are. I've adjusted the measures since I last tested them and cant really risk using them on my Kithain again.' she held them out for him to take.
'Come back to me once you have had chance to use them and let me know how you got on.'

Angua von Uberwald
Taking the vials, he checked their labels and carefully tucked them into his belt. Yes, he'd definately have to begin experimenting as soon as he could... this would be interesting once he found some test subjects. "I'll be back later, then," he said, and he turned to leave, heading back to his own chambers.

Lupinus returned to his chambers to stow away the vials of poison. He'd stopped by the armory and managed to find a small bow and some arrows, and he brought those back with him as well. Angua was in his room he saw as he entered, and she was holding a small note. "What is that?" he asked, moving his arm slightly so the vials in his belt were hidden.

Angua turned and held out the note. "It's from Vulpina. She'd like you to visit. He looked different, she thought. More sure of himself, somehow, and less like a little boy.

He snatched the note out of her hands and read it quickly. "Don't go through my things." Her expression changed, and he changed tactics, aware that sometimes kindness was a better manipulator. He allowed himself a smile. "Please." He waited until she nodded and then continued. "I need to change." When she was gone, he took a stuffed animal and carefully slit one of the seams. He slid the vials into the stuffing and set it back down. He'd go and meet Vulpina soon.
