Okay, I was in this Penacostal church, which was kind of weird, if I offend someone Sorry. But everyone was speaking in Tongues, I mean "shun da lalalallalala" it was something like that. But I was thinking and told my girlfriend that if someone where to slow this down and add some kick a** guitar rift it would make a good metal song or at least a cool chorus. What do you think?

I think it would be a particularly good idea. Any form ov desecration to Heathen Religions is a good idea for a Hymn. The speaking in tongues has been done for a long time, however. But, it never tires, especially if you make it a very potent and powerful rift. I would love to hear it, if it ever finishes.
If you need a good idea, listen to the Nile song" In Their Darkened Shrines: I. Hall ov Saurian Entombment", or, for a particularly well blended song from Nile, "I Whisper in the Ear ov the Dead".

Being a guitarist in a "metal" band, (yes "metal" because my dumbass friends are like no black, death, thrash, heavy, or power s**t just metal), has got me thinking about ways to get us known and this poped in my head in a church...lol...so I just wanted some opinions.

Death_Rift Being a guitarist in a "metal" band, (yes "metal" because my dumbass friends are like no black, death, thrash, heavy, or power s**t just metal), has got me thinking about ways to get us known and this poped in my head in a church...lol...so I just wanted some opinions. It'd be good for one song, but not a whole band style. :3 And your band can't avoid all of those lables. If your band doesn't fit any of those, there's a good chance that it's not metal. 3nodding

I will put it under my Devil Metal if no one else accepts you....
But, honestly, if you have a CD store that carries imports then I suggest you look at album "Beyond the Veil" and the song "Heretique". Maybe that would be a good suggestion for incorporating metal into an awesome chant.
They do it to the Vatican Hymn that is very famous. Try it out!

The entire church of hell thing has always been a part of sinister/dark metal ever since Venom's "At war with satan" (Great album) so I have to say hell yeah!

About that "riff" thing, my translator puts it like that, but I catch it as so every now and then.
You should incorporate the actual hymns into your songs as well! I like it whenever that is on my CDs. It sounds so beautiful, and more blasphemous.
