It had been long enough now. Long enough since she had seen that horrible gray wolf, the one who had knocked her out and kept her hidden in a cave, having done goodness knows what. Now she was round. It wasn't a heavy, eating and putting on weight round. No. This was the someone did something to me and now something was growing inside of me round. She didn't like it, so she kept trying to convince herself that she wasn't really round. No, it wasn't happening.
She was sitting on the beach now, watching the waves lap up upon the sand. Her belly was nearly touching the ground when normally it didn't do that. Ears folded back, she folded her tail around her body, trying to hide it. This wasn't happening.
Sighing, Echo shuffled her paws uneasily. So far, no one had commented on her sudden weight gain. But how long would that last? Sooner or later, she knew what would happen. But would she be able to deal with it. And what would her sister say, what would Logan say? Oh how she wished that gray wolf hadn't done that horrible thing to her.
Groaning, she rose slowly to her paws. Sunset was approaching fast, and she knew that she should be getting home to Ophelia and Logan before they began worrying about her. So she figured she'd better get a move on, since she could only walk so fast in her condition. But she didn't want to leave. The beach... it was just so serene and peaceful...

Logan was looking for Echo, he wanted to see how she was today. Ever since Croanyl had come, Logan had gotten even mroe protective of his love and her sister. His wound had healed for teh most part, they didn't seem like they would scar very much, his arm still ached though, but he paid it no mind. He was getting better, able to see today out of both his eyes, he was just glad Echo and Ophelia were alright.
Where would she be at this hour?
She wasn't with Ophelia he guessed, sometimes Echo seemed to go out on her own. Logan did that too, everyone did at one point or another. But he loved Ehco, so he ahd to worry. She had been the only wolfess in the world to look at him without a glare or two every minute. Echo was his mate, he loved her dearly.
"Echo, you out here?" he called, he was in the woods along the beach, the sand irritated the botto of his apws a bit, they were still scabbed from his ordeal with Croanyl, so he stayed on solid dirt.
Where did she go?

Echo sighed again, sitting down. Her belly was rather heavy on her delicate frame and she found it hard to stand for too long without any support. What if she couldn't make it back to the den? Closing her eyes, she tried not to think of any of that. Everything would be fine...
Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice. Craning her neck around so that she was looking over her shoulder, she perked her ears and tried to figure out who had spoken out. A moment later, it cliked in her brain and her tail gave a slight wag. Logan! Her mate, her one and only. It comforted her to hear his voice, and for a moment she forgot all about her swollen belly.
"Here!" she called back to him, using his words from before as was her curse.
Raising to her paws again, she turned around and trotted towards the trees. But where was he? Stopping, she figured it would be better if she simply let him come to her. "Here," she repeated, hoping it was loud enough for him to hear and locate her.

He stopped for a minute, adn just listened, he heard her voice, it was faint, so he began to pad in teh direction he believed it was coming from. Why had she gone so far from the den, had he done something wrong perhaps? If he did, Logan definitely wanted to make it up to her. He wanted to make her happy, have her smile.
Logan heard her voie again, smiling, curled tail wagging he bounded off in the direction, louder now, she was close, he caught her scent. "There you are," he said smiling, his voice was still rough and soft all at once, he was smiling, coming closer to Echo he nuzzled her cheek gently, stepped back and smiled. He didn't notice her belly at that moment.
"Are you well Echo? I was worried, I couldn't find you, is everything alright?" he wanted to know, for a moment when he couldn't find her before, his heart ached, he didn't want to have Echo go out on her own, have that maniac come back. He'd kill Croanyl if he ever saw him again.

Echo smiled and wagged her tail as her mate came up to her and nuzzled her gently. It felt warm and comforting to have him there, right next to her and touching her fur like that. It made her forget all of her worries, everything that had been bothering her and weighing down on her mind. She was blissful and happy with him.
Yet when he asked her if she was well, she suddenly froze. Could he be talking about her big belly? If not... how could he not notice?
She remained standing for as long as she could, for it helped to hide her growing bulge. But soon it just got too heavy and she couldn't continue standing anymore. Fearful but knowing what she had to do, she sat herself down, though she attempted to hide her stomach with her fluffy tail. Hopefully he wouldn't notice...
"Everything alright," she repeated slowly, nodding. It was a half lie, and she hated telling him that everything was fine when it all really wasn't. But she couldn't tell him that she was... no, she couldn't. It would break his heart to learn of what that gray wolf had done to her. So, as if to make up for it, she pressed herself against him and nuzzled him under his chin.
If only she could tell him she loved him on her own.

Something had to be wrong, he wished Echo could speak on her own accord, that he could hear her say things he hadn't already said, would be nice, but Logan loved Echo with all his heart regardless of her curse. He dreamt sometimes her curse would wear off for a period of time. Just for a day she was granted her own voice, but that was but a dream, nothing more. But one thin in his dream Logan had, that was her. He had his Echo.
"Tell me Echo?" he knew it was an odd request, but perhaps she could mimic out things that pertained to words, was she hiding something? Or was he just being blind today? Maybe she slept wrong, had a nightmare and didn't wish to share, or perhaps something was really wrong...what to do?
"It's alright Echo, you can tell me," he nuzzled her cheek and looked at her with hafl confused eyes, all of his vision was filled with love for her, he wished he knew what was going on.

Echo folded her ears back against her skull. Logan knew that something was wrong, there was no doubt about that. But did he think she was just sick or had he noticed her bulging stomach now? With no way to tell and no way to ask him herself, she simply frowned.
"Echo.." she began, unable to explain what was wrong with the small amount of words he had spoken to her. Darn her curse! One day she wished it would simply fade away and she'd be able to say whatever she wanted whenever she wanted, instead of being confined to repeating others' words. The only one she could really talk to was her sister. That was great and wonderful, but sometimes it wasn't enough. She wanted to be able to tell her mate that she loved him every day, and she wanted to be able to tell someone what was wrong if anything was wrong...
"Tell.." she tried again, growing slightly frustrated with herself. Frowning again, the small female shook her head and glanced at her stomach quickly. Should she try and tell him? The only thing was that she was fearful that it would break his heart to learn of her situation...
Struggling to make the right choice, she lowered her head and whined. Things were so complicated.

Logan watched Echo struggle with her words, seemign frustrated with herself, it was probable, he watched carefully as she glanced at her stomach quickly. Did she not feel well? "Does your stomach hurt Echo? Want me to go find you something good to eat perhaps? Different then before?"
His eyes met her stomach for only a moment, he hadn't noticed it was larger then it should be, she was sitting in a strange position that he wouldn't really be able to tell either.

Echo blinked at her mate. Did he not see?
Shaking her head, she spoke, "Eat." She meant that she didn't want to eat, though she wasn't sure if he would get it. She hadn't been exactly clear, after all, being as she didn't have a 'no' to work with from what he had said to her. Sighing, she attempted to move on without feeling too frustrated with her curse. Why did she only have to be able to repeat others' words?
"Echo... different than before," she hesitated, her tail curling around her body uncertainly. Standing up carefully, she turned around slowly, giving him hints as to what was up. He had a clear view of her large belly before she turned her back to him and looked at the setting sun.
"Different," she repeated, glancing back over her shoulder to peer at him. Would he get it now?

Ok, she was different. How? Echo was the same loving wolfess Logan had come to know and love, what could be different? Physically perhaps, that could be it. Logan tilted his head and walked a circle around her, looking Echo over, to make sure she wasn't hurt, he didn't want her to be hurt at all.
Then he noticed something.
Her stomach?
He leaned forward and pressed his nose to it softly and pulled back, smiling at her, "Is that it Echo?" his tail was wagging. Was it really possible...were they going, to have a family?

Echo folded her ears back as her mate circled around her. He was checking her over, seeing if there was something physically wrong or different. She knew that he would figure it out. Her belly was too big to go by unnoticed now, he had to see it.
And then he did. She knew because he had leaned forward and pressed his nose against it. Her tail tucked between her legs as he pulled back. But instead of some sort of distress or some other bad expression, she saw a smile on his face. What... a smile? But she was pregnant with... did he not know? That had to be it, otherwise he wouldn't have been smiling at her because she was pregnant.
Shaking her head, she whined to him. "That it," she said, but unable to find the words to tell him that she didn't think he was the father. "Is.." she sighed, hanging her head and sitting down again.
Damn her curse.

Logen tilted his head at her, "What's the matter Echo, aren't you excited nad happy?" he asked, his tail wagging from his own excitement. They were going to have a family! He was going to be a father and his mate that he loved with his whole heart and soul was going to be a mother, why wasn't she excited?
"We're going to have a family Echo, I couldn't be happier, I'll take care of everything, make sure you're comfy and have enough to eat, I'll still watch out for your sister as well. She will be excited too won't she?" He sat next to ehr and curled around her and nuzzled her cheek gently, "I promise, I'll take care of you. If it's him that you're worried about," him being Croanyl, "I won't let him near you, I promise Echo...I love you.."

Echo frowned at her mate, wishing that she could just be able to talk straight out and get through to him what she wanted to say. But this damn curse! Would it haunt her forever, keeping her restricted for the rest of her life?
But then Logan said more, giving her more words to form sentences from. It was bitter sweet. She was glad that she could probably tell him what was wrong from the words he had given her, but then she was devastated that she would tell him the truth about her pregnancy. But she had to tell him! He had to know the truth about it all. His happiness would fade as soon as she told him, she knew, and so she hesitated slightly.
Flicking her ears back, she whined to him. "Worried... it's him," she stated simply, her eyes watering up a little.
This was perhaps the hardest thing she ever had to do in her whole life.

He watched her silently, she seemed, uncomrtable, nervous, had he done something wrong? Did she...did she not want him to be aorund anymore, hated him for doing this to her, his own ears fell back, not understanding what was going on anymore.
What was him?
"Ehco...did I do something wrong? He won't come back, I'll protect you I swear, I won't let him hurt you, I'll protect you and the pups, his paws won't get near you again I swear..."
His tail fell lower, ears flat against his skull, an ache in his heart, what had he done that was so bad? That made her whine that small phrase.
What was going on?

Echo lowered her head. He just really wasn't getting her message. But she had to keep trying. Logan looked so heartbroken now, he thought that all of this was his fault. But none of this was his fault, nothing ever could be. She loved him and would always love him forever. He had to know what was going on before she ultimately crushed him.
Shaking her head, she quickly rushed to him and snuggled hereslf into him, letting him know that he hadn't done a single thing wrong.
Pulling away slightly, she looked up at him, ready to give it another shot at telling him what was going on.
"Him... pups... him hurt I..." she whispered, looking sadly into Logan's eyes. That was probably the best she could get to telling him what was going on unless he gave her better words to work with. For now it would have to do. She hoped it was clear enough.
