It was always about this time of day that Catalyst managed enough time to waltz into the free lands for, what it was normally, a good hunt. Yet, however it was also, at times, the fact that his own pack lands were receding in both glam and numbers; not that there were many wolves to start, that kept him coming back to these unclaimed woods. His family was a scattered mess now, with his close friend Kirra at his sons every need and his children themselves lost in their own wonders. Life did that to wolves, of course, and parents such as he would eventually have had to given in to it--yet this was now good months ago since they'd left him and his mate, and at that time, all three were teens.
So, to bounce topics, Catalyst ruffled his fur and leapt quaintly atop a boulder. This, situated just nicely in a large, circular meeting like arrangement, bringing back memories, yet blurry as they were. Settling down, the male sighed, though unconscious to if it were aloud or not. Today was a rather gloomy day for the male, but he'd make the best of it in time; right after a short nap. Recoiling into a tight ball, Catalyst dozed off, the rest being a well needed one.

Kiros was never a pack wolf, well, not since the incedent anyway. After the occurence he deemed it best to stay far away from a certain red who wished his throat. Consequently it meant the freelands were his home, as the alpha of the pack wished no more than to see his blood spilled. Normally he traveled at night in secrecy, but a day like today was far to pleasant to pass by. Gathering his thoughts together he'd set out, double personality and all, drifting aimlessly to some uncharted territories of the lands.
There was no hunting, scouting, or malevolent plots on his shoulders today so he was free to do as he bode. It gave him significant time to stop and smell the flowers, if you will, but he'd more than likely take the saying to heart. Ears rotated softly on a thickening coat in preparation for the coming winter. Adaptation was key and despite the continuing warm days there was a bite present in the air that foretold harsh climates to come.
His double colored eyes spotted something perched ahead. It was an outcropping of sorts, white quite basically speaking. Yet even these rounded, hardened pieces of earth seemed discolored in a certain spot. Kiros squinted, attempting to focus just what it was. Curious he stepped closer only to find that this strange abnormality was in fact a living wolf. Odd for a wolf to be on a boulder. Even stranger that it was sleeping. He hoped he wouldn't interrupt the others sleep and tiptoed by, but things like that hardly ever worked.

He stirred, ever so slightly, eyes fluttering with the scent of a new face, ears strained with the new movement. The other wolf was fairly close, and only seemed to want to walk on by undisturbed. He was right to think it wouldn't be left unknown.
This was, by far, not his lands. He couldn't claim them even if he wanted to, however his domain was now here, and the inner alpha in him would net let this one, or any, simply slide on by as if he were not there.
Rolling now, onto his belly so as he could lift his rump and stretch his torso, Catalyst glanced out into the open, his every muscle cramping with the desire to move. He tore away at the boulder, claws making his perch a temporary scratch post.
'Do not walk on stranger. Hello.' His voice was, rough, dexterous. His mate had once spoke to him over members to their pack, and whether this wolf had a desire to join or not, he'd most certainly not let his mate down. She was sad, after all, that no one seemed to like the pair long enough to stick around.
A glimpse of hope passed his eyes as he stuck to his throne, stone still, and breathed gently. He was still unaware of the other wolfs appearance, seeing that sleep still clouded his vision.

The crazed wolf cringed when the other spoke. He knew it would happen, but that didn't make it any less dissapointing when he was right. For once he'd like just to walk on in peace, but such things never happened, especially to a wolf like him. He supposed he got what was coming to him, though. Pasts did come back to haunt you, no matter what anyone says. Not to say he was superstitious, he wasn't, or at least he didn't think so. But everyone felt that things were far to coincidental to truly be such, didn't they? He couldn't be the only one.
Thus were the thoughts that were erupting in his head as he slowly turned to face this speaking giant. Kiros himself was a small wolf, certainly fit to be more the omega he portrayed than the alpha status Xan flung around without a care in the world. Still, he lacked social skills, and therefore most found him stupid. Not only that, but he also was severely underdosed in the area of guts. He'd sooner flee from a sitaution or take a Shamanic approach of talking than sit it out and fight. He suppposed that was why he didn't have very many friends. Loyalty was bit of an issue for he and his other half.
He grunted in response and settled onto his haunches, darkened ears flicking about for any sign of danger. He kept his head low, loner fashion. It didn't matter that these were no one's lands, those few alpha's that did wander here felt no remorse in using their prowess against others. Heaven forbid that two of such high flying individuals ran into each other during these territories. Especially two brute males. Luckily this was most definately not the case.
"Yes?" He asked, quirking a brow at the other. He couldn't act to casual, that might provide offence.
Honestly, he doesn't look that bad. Who knows what he is. Look at him. He's not exactly little. Are you worried about getting flattened or talked to? Both.

The silence remained, longer then expected for Catalyst as he stood, eyes searching, clearing the haze of fatigue.
He smirked, ebony lips pulling towards his ears gently. Like that of alphas, he came to these lands to find members, if not wolves to simply call friends. He, a wolf of many morals, was fond of having companions, even if they lurked outside his own territory. It benefited him in more then one was, though he wasn't one to use and abuse.
There was one thing he knew of this wolf already, he wasn't a confident one and such wolf as he would run first, think later if he were to be approached by another. Especially if it were in heart wrenching silence. Catalyst's head lowered, and his body moved swiftly off the ledge and onto the floor, were he began to speak as he wriggled closer to the other wolf.
'There's no need to be alarmed, I have no need to harm you.' he breathed, much like how the wind whispered in his ear or rain gently raped the earth. 'Care to tell an old bag of bones like myself your name? It would be the least you could do, waking me up and all.' A small chortle rattled, eyes pinned on that of Kiros.

The last words caused Kiros to relax quite a lot. He was still standing on his toes, so to speak, but at least he knew that the other wouldn't rip his throat out like several wolves. That alone was comforting. However his other half didn't believe in such trusting ways and so kept himself onguard.
Yet Xan was always the inquisitive sort and this strange figure truly intrigued him. Why would such a large, and apparently powerful wolf, want to talk to him. Furthermore, what was such an influence doing outside of his pack lands? Not to mention he said I have no need to harm you, not to say that he wouldn't. Therefore by stopping and offering them tongue he could potentially be setting them both up for danger. No matter. What was life without a little bit of danger anywho?
Kiros was further reassured by the others humorous manner. He gave him a slight wag of the tail to show his uncertainty, but also his trust that he wouldn't be eaten on the spot. There was no need to run away at this point, but always best to be cautious, especially in what was said.
"Kiros. Yourself?" His tail shifted restlesly across the earth, ears fluttering about like some restless butterfly trying to land on a swaying lily. His eyes searched the other for some sign of alarm or danger, but he could find none. Not at the moment at least. Give it some time, some stupid maneuver on his part and there would be blood to shed. Wasn't that the way it always worked?
"Sorry to awake you from such a peaceful slumber. I'm never as quiet as I'd like."

Catalyst paused for a moment, listlessly thinking over the name Kiros. It sounded familiar, very much so, however he couldn't put his tongue on it. Maybe it was just a mistake...Shrugging both lean shoulders, he smiled and replied.
'The name is Catalyst, and no Kiros, we never are as silent as we wish.' A silky grin spread across his muzzle, as he continued to speak quickly after. 'Though no one can escape my sharp hearing. It's something your born with--in the genes, my boy, in the genes!' A rough chuckle rumbled from his throat, head tossing slightly, almost too dramatically.
Catalyst obviously was making time.
His nose flared as he calmed, and eyes kept to the male before him, body relaxed as ever. This time, he wouldn’t forget.

Kiros looked horrified. This crazy wolf was a nightmere! Not only was he huge, but he was also insane, more so than Kiros, the wolf thought. The constant flurry of words from the other's tongue was quite alarming, and the lone wasn't sure he could stand much more of it.
"Genes?" That was all he could take of the incident. He turned and fled.
Coward! Quiet Xan! He can't hear you. I don't exist And that was the end of their conversation.
