White tipped paws curled up on the ground, the owner having been walking across the earth for so long that day. Of course Khepri was used to it, her paws finally having hardened and gotten used to walking on something that wasn't sand, but all the same she was tired and the sun was still in the air.

"Where're these damn Ela'" the little Firekin growled under her breath, falling onto her side heavily and letting out a puff of breath. Dust kicked up as she did so, letting a small cloud float out over the ground and she watched it lazily, golden eyes blinking gently. "Such a lazy day."

For once her voices were silent, probably due in fact to the seashells she'd found and put over her ears with a rope holding them together. They made the world arond her hard to hear, but it also made her happy because she couldn't here the pestulant voices that plauged her waking and sleeping hours.

The world he knew was fairly far behind him, the landas he had cherished, loved, the family he adored, he had left them behind in search of a dream. Once, long ago a white bird had spoken to him of the sea, of the waves, of the creatures that lived there, of pirates. ith a dream in his heart and a pull on his soul the oddly coloured Nahodha'Kota wa sout in a world he knew little or nothing about.

The pull of the sea yanked at his dark ears yanking him towards the desination he had dreamed of his whole life. Looking up to the scorching sun, the black lion took a deep breath his chest puffing out that pure white diamond on his chest starkly visable against the rest of his coat.

It wasn't those onyx coloured eyes though that spotted the little red femme, it was that pale and twitching nose. Turning his gaze though his eyes fell upon the ruby pelted femme. He smiled, he had met noone yet upon his journy, he could use a friend for a while. "Greetings lassy!" he called, his voice loud cheery, and filled with a strange accent. Ever since he had met that bird, all that time ago the dark youngster had spoken like a pirate, his slang taking over his natural pridelander accent, making him at times, hard to understand. He was a pirate and what was a pirate without the sea?

Khepri lifted an ear up, the white insides shimmering lightly as she made a gentle face and smiled. It wasn't every day that she got the chance to meet someone, not every day that she got to see another lion let alone anything else. Though of course she'd been all over except for at Ela' lands, that was a given since she was still trying to find them.

"Well hello thar." Khepri called back to him, picking herself up slowly and rubbing at her white belly with a paw. "What're yo' doin' ou' 'ere? 'Specially so far from the Pridelands eh?"

Silky and short fur bristled as she moved towards the larger dark lion. Her accent was her own, her fur was her own, her eyes were her own, her soft personality was her own. Here now she was in front of a Pridelander no less and looking over him with the eyes of a Firekin as if there was nothing too special about it, when every Firekin of the past was rolling in their starry graves.

Nahodha'kota looked over the dark rouge female and smiled, a slight chuckle escaped him and he tilted that white marked maw in a curious manner. "Do I really be lookin' s'much like a pridelan'er?" he raised a brow, perhaps the way he llooekd spoke of it. Though he was larger than your average pridelander, his fur shone with good health, he had no marks on his dark fur from battles and the smile on his maw spoke of innocence, of a life of plenty, of trust and happiness. His grandfather was the one that had given him his coat, charcoal black, his rogue mother had also handed down a rather large gene, making him tower above his sisters and even the other adolecent males of his pride.

"I be long wantin' ta see the sea lassy my paws be a follerin' me heart and leadin' me orf to the briney waters." He grins a little sheepishly. "Though sayin' that lassy I do be wonnerin if you can 'elp an ol' sailor an' be a pointin' 'im in tha right direction?" he paused for a moment and licked his partially pale lips "I be almos' fergettin whar ever be me manners? I'm Nahodha'Kota but most be simply callin' me 'kota lassy, aye, so what should I be hailin' ya? or should I jus' be a callin ye lassy?"

Smirking slightly, Khepri nodded her red and white head smoothly, scratching at her white belly calmly. "Ah seen the sea before, Ah can take yo' there if yo' wanna go. It's easy enough ta find after all."

The juvenile sat down on her hind quarters and tapped her white chin for a few moments, wondering what would be the easiest way to get him to the ocean and what to tell him. The sea was many things but not a good place to take someone during this cold time. She'd been there a few months before when it was hotter.

"Call meh Khepri, It's nice ta meet yo' Kota." She grinned and swished her tail. "Ah'll take yo' to the ocean, if yo' promise to stay with meh for a bit. Ah been alone for a long time."

The dark males ears tilted forwards and he smiled "Aye lassy I'll be gladly joinin' ya, I don't be havin' much 'o' a crew ya see. Bein' a pirate an alls I don't much be fancien' loosin' me anchor without a first mate." He grinned. Truth was the dark youngster had never been alone for any amount of time and though he longed for the sight of the sea he didn't much fancy travelling in to the unknown alone.

"tis a moighty foine name for a first mate." He grins again, he didn't want to sound desperate after all. This seemingly world knowing female though seemed to be a good companion, there had to be alot of places she could show him beside the ocean. He remembered fondly his home lands and glanced backwards only for a moment with a slight smile. "Lead the way Kheperi" He smiled his charcoal grey eyes dancing with thoughts of the sea and perhaps beyond it.

Grinning at the thought of being someone's right hand girl, Khepri shook her red and white head lightly as if to laugh and trotted up next to him playfully. She batted at one of his ears and turned on her white pawed heels and swished her tail for him to follow her.

Here she was leading a pirate to the sea, the last place she figured that she'd wind up again, not that it was a bad place. She had rather liked it the time she'd been there. It was calm and serene at times and then rough and harsh and killer at others. It matched her personality quite identically to be honest, her gruffness despite her sweet demeanor and pacifism.

"Well then yo're luckeh eh? Yo' got yerself a ferst mate tha' kno's where she be goin'." Her golden eyes winked and she started at a run towards the direction she knew the ocean to be in.

Nahoda'kota grinned broadly as he swatted playfully at her tail. He was still a young male after all, carefree and swift of paw, but none the less young. He was pleased to have gained a member for his 'crew', somone to travel with "Aye lassy, it be a good job you're here ta be a steerin' the tiller!" He laughed heartily as he caught up to her those charcoal black eyes fixed upon the direction they were travelling in.

At last he would see the sea, it was his dream to travel to the waves, to leap between the salty foam, to taste the fish and smellt he briney air. he could only imagine what he would see when he got there. Tales of the sea braught to him by the gull when first he had discovered about being a pirate. Tales of adventure, of men, of strange things he didn't understand, but always tales of the sea.

"I'm glad you're comin' with me lass, A captain is always in need of a first mate yanno?" he smiled charmingly, perhaps he was rather taken with this deep ruby red furred female. He was certainly glad she was with him, the world just wasn't very fun alone, a pirate always had a crew after all.

Waving her dark red tail at the larger male, Khepri grinned back at him playfully and laughed to the wind. Kota seemed like a nice enough male, she almost was amuzed when he suggested half of what he suggested and it earned him a wiry smile.

"Ah'll gladly be yo'r ferst mate, mah boi." Khepri said to him as he caught up with her. She'd seen others around the ocean and she saw no reason why he shouldn't go with her. Besides, it would be nice to be able to travle with someone for a good long while rather than to be traveling all alone like she had been for the past few months.

"Now, how far yo' been from 'ome eh? Nevah this far? Or 'ave you?" the large female asked brightly, her smile plastered on her soft muzzle.

"Nay lass, this be me first venture out in to these story waters. I'm a pridelan'er born an bread on the calm shores of pride rock. My toes they be a leadin me out on adventures though an' me body aint about to dissaggree." He grinned sheepishly his coal black eyes dancing happily.

"I be bout pleased I aint havin' ta travel these shores 'lone miss, tis lonely out ere on seas ya don't be knowin'"

He was silent for a moment then before he spoke again, "whar were you headed when you foun' me lassy?" he tilted his head curiosity apparant in those dark eyes. Perhaps there were more places than the sea, to see, though that was his first port he had to dock at, he could perhaps see more of the world before he returned home.

Khepri almost stopped running when he asked her what she was heading for. She knew what it was but it was hard to explain, mostly because she didn't know what exactly it was, or where exactly it was. She just had a name and that was what she'd based this entire crazy quest on, this whole trip was based off of a name and the suggestion to go find them.

The word of a firekin.

"Ah'm.... lookin' fer the Ela'. Ah haven' been able ta find 'em yet... they ain' so easy ta find yo' know? A Firekin's word Ah guess." Khepri shrugged meekly as she slowed down to a trot and looked at her white paws. "But it's nice.. ta 'ave someone else ta come with yo' on long journies, eh?"

"Ela?" the young black male twitched his head a little confusedly, he had never heard that word before. "What are they lass I aint never heard nothin' o them." His dark eyes watched her questioningly as he followed beside her enjoying the run, his paws were strong and he was a firm creature, larger than your average pridelander because of his mothers blood. No doubt when he was fully grown he would be a giant of a lion.

"Tis good ta be havin' a companion atcha side lassy an' I be thinkin mah paws would be mightly lonely ifn they din't at least foller yer after ye kindness ta me."

"Ah think they're lions.. Ah think. Bu' Ah don' know much more than tha'. It's kinda sad really. Ah shouldah known more 'fore I wen' an' started ta search fo' em." Khepri shruged her slanted shoulders as she ran, her tail whipping out behind her like a flat as she ran. Her body curled up almost like a cheetah's, but she was so much larger and stockier that it was nearly akward the way she ran.

Yet when she ran she floated, her stocky body being nothing but muscle and no fat at all.

"Ah'd bee alone mahself if ya didn' wanna find th' ocean. Ah'm glad ta take ya anywhere yer little 'eart wants ta go mate."

'Kota chuckled lightly watching her form, she must have been on the road for a long time, she seemed to be very fit, while he on the other hand, though large and with alot of potential to be mucely when he grew in to his 'big fluff' as he used to call it, right now he was quite pudgy, he was after all a pridelander, born on the healthy lands, well fed all his life, he was fit to say the least but certainly a little pudgier than any rogue male.

Still he managed to follow her closely, his thick frame and growing mane falling over his shooulders and occasionally in to those charcoal eyes. He knew full well that his fat would fall away with time and travelling, perhaps when he returned to the pridelands he would be completely different? Perhaps. It intreagued him to think that any way. What would he have seen by the time he rejoined his birthplace?

"Wull I'd be a lovin' ta travel with ye mate, I guess thar be more t' th' worl' than jus' the sea, prolly lotsa ports I can bout be dockin' me black sales at." He grinned cheekily at these words, so many words, so many beleifs, so many dreams. The pridelands would still be there when he got back after all.

His stomach gave a low rumble then and he chuckled "ey lass you got some scurvey and biscuits wit ye? cause ifn' ya aint I think we'll be needin' ta stop and catch some grub ne?"

Khepri was actually impressed that Kota was able to keep up with her at all. She'd grown for months out on her own, learning to hunt and scavenging for food when none was around. She'd lost weight and gained it back in muscle and pure strength. She was already twice the size of any firekin and nearly three times the size of any normal rouge, she stood out when a lion was around her and she could fill an area simply by being there.

That was her other strength, the fact that her skin was pulled so tight over nothing but muscle and bone showed other lions that when she made a threat she didn't bluff. Her scars along her side must have told them that as well, but the fact that they were large and shone in the sunlight where her fur should have been... Denahi had done his job on her when she'd been a cub. Her only markings shone brightly and rippled with her muscles, marking her with the abscense of the weakness gene a few of her siblings had inherited through some strange act of the gods.

"Oh good, cuz we'll be stoppin at a good many o' those ports." Khepri winked over at him with a grin. "Ah need ta stop an' ask aroun' ta fin' wha' Ah'm lookin' fo'."

Of course he was hungry, Khepri hadn't eaten in a few days but she could go about a week without eating anything now. She'd learned how to do that from being on her own, another bonus. But if he really was that hungry there were two of them, between the two of them they could probably pull something down a lot easier than just she could by herself.

"Well... we can stop an' check ta see if there be anythin' aroun'? Wit' th' two o' us Ah'm sure we can down somethin'."
