Sorry that I wasn't on for the past 2 days and I probably won't be on tomorrow. I've been at A-kon; I saw the Gaia thingy with DN and Jakabo, and appearently Jakabo is a fat man. Anyways, I've got news.
Within a week Gaia Casino should be up. You give gold, you get tickets, you use tickets to gamble, you exchange gamble points for items.
Gaia Towns should be up soon too, but I don't know how soon. In that you should eb able to place houses in a neighborhood and make your avies move around. You can basically IM people on it (same as fishing multiplayer). There will be animated emoticons too, which include a new "PAWNED!" emoticon.
A shop for tattoo's has been drawn, NPCs, tattoos, and all. They just need to program it.
Also, soon they will have a new form of HTML servers. They new servers will be faster, won't crash as much, and just generally better.
In upcoming months some very cool items will be released so make sure to get those donation letters.
Update:
Eh, sketches of new items were shown and they looked fancy, I assume some of them are fish masks and helmets. But there were some other things that just look too cool to be commons.
Pictures were shown there, but I didn't have a camera so none here. You can probably find some in the FeedBack forum though.
Most of the items that I saw were hats. In the Casino part I saw 3 pairs of items sets. Here they are:
Jester Set
Lace Set
Royalty Set
These are just guessed names, but they give a good idea. I saw pics of them briefly and I know the Jester Set the items look cool, not very cool looking items in the Lace Set I didn't get a good look at them though. Oh, the Royalty Set will have a Crown and a belt with jewels, which will be called the Family Jewels.
Update: Yay! The Casino is up. (I will no longer be updating.)

To clarify, yes it starts with only slots I think.

I hope that in the future that they add other games to the casino. I love Texas hold'em and Seven card stud, it'd be awesome to play on gaia.
