Concept

Concept by : Esopha
Spirit : Fungi
Name : Seta Mignonne
Gender : Female

Appearance: Seta has stringy, white hair that she wears long and braided into many small braids. (Think dreadlocks.) Occasionally, she will tie these braids back away from her face with a purple string. This can be difficult, however, because her hair is full of life: they are quite similar to the main structure of many fungi, before they 'flower' into shrooms: long, thin tendrils that move and grow. Her hair dislikes being tied back, and therefore wiggles around quite a bit. When her hair is not tied back, however, it tends to latch onto things and drip acidy fungi digesting fluids all over them. Gross.

Seta's face is full of strong features, from her nose, to her high, pointed cheekbones, to her full mouth and stubborn chin. Her eyes are wide-set and a reddish-purple. Seta usually has one eyebrow cocked and a smirk on her face in a sort of bland, sarcastic contentment. Seta has some pretty funky skin. Her skin is mostly a peachy-pink color, though there are swirls of purple and reddish-orange moving throughout her skin. She also has white freckles on her face, which protrude from her skin. For good reference pictures, check the 'fungi pictures' post.

Personality: Seta is probably one of the most chill people you'll ever meet. Though far from emotionless, Seta basically just goes with the flow, spending most of the going with a smirk on her face and a stick of gum in her mouth. She likes people, and has her own kind of charisma, but she's not particularly talkative. She's moderate in many ways, from political views to how she interacts with people. Basically, Seta is a relaxed, cool chick.

Abilities: One word: Mushrooms, everywhere. Seta has the ability to force any fungus into bloom, and then harvest the shroom. (Can you say, limitless morels?) Seta also has an innate sense for which mushrooms are edible, which are poisonous and which are...ah...hallucinogenic. Seta tries to avoid the latter two as much as possible, however, if she uses this ability too often, she can find little mushrooms following her down the street. (Personaly, I think a little mushroom familiar would be adorable. xP)

About Fungi

A fungus (plural fungi) is a many-celled organism that digests its food externally and absorbs the nutrient molecules into its cells. Along with bacteria, fungi are the primary decomposers of dead organic matter in most terrestrial ecosystems. Many fungi have important symbiotic relationships with many other organisms. In fact, over 90% of all plant species engage in some kind of symbiotic relationship with fungi and are dependent upon this relationship for survival.

Fungi were originally classified as plants, however they have since been separated as they are consumers. This means they do not fix their own carbon through photosynthesis, but use carbon fixed by other organisms for metabolism. Fungi are now thought to be more closely related to animals than to plants, and are compared with animals more frequently than they are compared with plants.

Although fungi lack true organs, the mycelia (plant-like part) of the fungus may become organized into more complex reproductive structures called fruiting bodies, or sporocarps, when conditions are right. "Mushroom" is the common name given to the above-ground fruiting bodies of many fungal species. Although these above-ground structures are the most conspicuous to humans, they make up only a small portion of the entire fungal body. Most fungi form rhizoids, which are underground root-like structures that provide support and transport nutrients from the soil to the rest of the mycelium.

The mycelium is informally refered to as the mushroom's 'brain.' It is impossible to destroy/kill a shroom unless you completely destroy its brain.

Mushrooms can vary in shape, size, color, texture, and whether or not you die when you eat them. Mushrooms produce spores which are released into the atmosphere (a lot like the seeds and pollen of plants) and grow to make new myceliums and mushrooms.

Guardian

Name: Lorinda Mignonne
Nicknames, Variations: Rinda, Minda
Gender: Female

Appearance: Lorinda looks very masculine. She has short, blue hair (dyed!) and blue eyes, square, muscular shoulders and 'assets' of minimal proportions. She is tall, adding to her masculine appearance, and wiry - a jumper's body. Lorinda has a small, heart-shaped face with a pointed chin and a strong brow. Her skin is pale and stays pale, not tanning nor burning, or even getting freckles. She usually dresses in neutral tones like khaki, forest green, dark blue, denim, and (occasionally) fatigues, which only increase the first impression of masculinity.

Personality: Lorinda is quite a go-getter, believing strongly in that if you work hard, you will succeed. Those who are not successful have not worked hard to be successful, and thus should not complain. She is blunt, forceful, and protective, though a bit contradictory. She's strong in her beliefs, but she doesn't really know what those beliefs are.

Occupation: A dealer in illegal substances.
