{About a girl}
Iolanthe is a mist spirit, who came about after I was thinking of San Francisco while looking for hotels for a trip to Comic Con next year, even though the convention is located in San Diego.
Yes. I fully admit it. Dumbest idea origin story EVER. xD;

__Name Iolanthe __Gender Female __Spirit Mist __Appearance
Eyes Light blue Hair Long, ash gray and "misty", for lack of a better term - it floats upwards and is cloud-like. (see ref picture) Skin Light gray Special Features Io has small vestigial wings of a dark gray color. And more interestingly, Io is roughly translucent. Her natural coloration is gray, but if she stands in front of a light source or even a colorful background, she takes on aspects of those colors because you can see through her. The ultimate wallflower camouflage!
__Likes Cool weather, water, overcast days, quiet music __Dislikes Summer weather, bright lights, loud music, lighthouses
__Personality Io is quiet and aloof, preferring to keep to herself. She likes to listen rather than talk, and will get away with saying nothing for as long as possible. She's shy around new people but will warm up to them in her own way over time. She dislikes loud people and crowds, and makes an effort to avoid them.
__Abilities Dispersal: Io can take advantage of her half-mist state and disperse herself, making her body lose human shape and sort of roll off all mystical mist like in separate directions. It takes a lot of energy to do it and to put herself together again, so this is reserved for tricky games of hide and seek or emergencies only.
__About Mist
Mist is a phenomenon of a liquid in small droplets floating through air. It can occur naturally as part of natural weather or volcanic activity, and is common in cold air above hot water, in exhaled air in the cold, and in a steam room of a sauna. It can also be created artificially with aerosol canisters.
The only difference between mist and fog is visibility [1]. This phenomenon is called fog if the visibility is one kilometer or less. Otherwise it is known as mist. Seen from a distance, mist is blueish, while haze is more brownish.
Strong superstitious and religious connotations are associated with mist in some cultures.
Mist makes a light beam visible from the side.

__Name Jaye Ramsey/ Blue (haaaha, Blue-Jaye, get it? Get it? ...no? ) __Gender Female __Age 22 __Height 5 foot 5. __Weight A lady never tells.
__Likes Movies, old books, stained glass windows, sweets, retro-rock music __Dislikes Cars, trucks, motorcycles (anything gas-powered that moves on wheels is a big no-no for her), spiders, bitter and sour things, alarm clocks
__Personality Split in two. Literally. There's Jaye, a sweet, somewhat oblivious and ultra-hyper girl who has a lingering delight in conversing with inanimate objects, and Blue, the calmer, far more reasonable and, let's put it frankly, sane half. Blue retains memories going back to early childhood, while Jaye's cut off at a point exactly four years ago. Blue hardly minds Jaye's presence, preferring to take a mental backseat and just making sure Jaye doesn't touch anything explosive.
__History Blue and Jaye's co-habitation are the result of a car accident Blue was in four years ago. She was badly injured and brain-damaged, which in turn resulted in a months-long coma. Her state deteriorated to the point that all conscious brain function ceased, and Blue was declared brain dead.
Enter Jaye.
Blue isn't sure what Jaye is, quite frankly. Neither is Jaye, but that's probably because she's just forgotten. Blue's body recovered from its injuries and brain function returned with Jaye's habitation, but the catch was that Jaye is now stuck. She doesn't really realize this and thinks she is the original mind in Blue's body, with Blue as the nice voice that talks to her and makes sure she doesn't get into trouble.
__Why use Jaye?
Jaye's a character that's been in disuse for a long time. I love her and the mythos behind her bizarre origins, but I just could never find a RP setting to include her in. With the discovery of Incantation of the Spirit, I decided to dust her off, take her out and introduce her formally into my RPing at last.
Besides, with a name like Jaye it has to be good.

___2nd Flatsale Entry
It was the rain that had kept her up all night, but it was the aftermath of the storm that interested Iolanthe. She had sneaked out of bed early and stayed up late, watching the storm in utter fascination. It had been frightening and amazing to watch, to see the trees in the yard writhing in the wind as the rain beat on them, stripping them of their leaves and breaking branches. Iolanthe had been interested to watch the destructive power of the storm, and now in the early morning as it finally dissipated, she watched as the early summer sun burned away the lingering clouds and warm the rain-chilled world.
It was the mist, that steaming, whirling mass that rose up from the ground as the cold air of the night mixed with the warm air of the day that had caught her attention most. Iolanthe had sneaked out while Jaye slept, and she had gone out into that mist, past leaf-stripped trees and battered underbrush of the forest that bordered the house. The mist rose far above the small girl, and she found after awhile she had disappeared into it completely. This suited Iolanthe fine – she was content to sit on the sodden ground and simply watch it rise, feeling more at home outside here and now then she ever had in Jaye’s house.
--
Jaye was in a panic. She’d woken to find the house empty, devoid of spookily-silent mist children. She’d found the child’s bed unmade, the front door wide open, and immediately thought of the worst.
“Crap, crap, she’s gone! Kidnapping, murder, slave trading, aliens….murderous hillbillies, oh my God! Io? Io!” Jaye called, rambling wildly to herself in terror. Dreadful images of Iolanthe being dragged away screaming in the dead of night, being stuffed into a sack and carried off, beamed up onto a flying saucer played in her head…. Jaye, to put it bluntly, was hysterical.
“Iolanthe! Honey, come on, this isn’t funny! Where are you?” she said frantically, searching and researching every room in the house. Every room was empty. “Oooh, this is so bad. Io? Io! IO!”
Jaye stumbled back into the living room and gave it one last look-around before facing the front door. It had been the sound of the door creaking on its rusted hinges that had woken Jaye in the first place. She hadn’t thought to look outside yet…
“Please, please please don’t let me find a body,” she said to herself.
Aw, come on, Jaye. You’re overreacting.
“Overreacting! She’s gone! Oooh, god, this is just like the hamster all over again. Why do things I love keep mysteriously disappearing?” Jaye wailed in response to her thoughts, heading out the door. Trudging across the soaking lawn, Jaye stumbled and slipped on the beaten-down grass and gaping slicks of mud, still muttering worriedly to herself.
“Iolanthe?” she called once and a while, circling the house slowly and searching for some sign of the child. “Io?”
--
Iolanthe distantly heard Jaye’s voice, and decided to ignore it. She was in a comfortable place and darn it, she wanted to be left alone to enjoy it. She failed to hear the fright in her guardian’s voice as the woman called for her again and again, marking it off as a simple annoyance that was spoiling Iolanthe’s pleasant morning.
Again and again Jaye called for her, and Iolanthe beat her wings in annoyance. Mist roiled and drifted further upwards at the movement of her wings, and the girl watched in sudden delight as the mist coiled and twisted into nothingness, tinted gold by the morning light.
“Pretty,” she said, her rarely-used voice barely above a whisper.
--
“Iolanthe, please! Come out!”
Jaye, having circled the house for the third time, paused and sucked in a deep breath that rattled as she tried to keep herself from crying. There was no sign of the child, none at all, and she was becoming deathly afraid.
“Io, honey, come on,” she called, terror in her voice. “Just come out now, huh? Where are you?”
--
Jaye was closer now, and Iolanthe could hear her a bit better. Wings beat even harder in annoyance, but the girl paused and listened after a few moments of silent cursing for Jaye to just hush already. Her guardian, that annoying, strange woman who talked too much and too loud, sounded funny…sad? Scared?
“Uh oh,” Iolanthe said, getting up and dusting herself off. Her nightgown was muddy and wet, and she became keenly aware that she’d been out in the mist much longer than she’d first intended. The sun was much higher in the sky now, and the mist was almost all gone.
Oops.
“Jaye,” Iolanthe said, her voice small at first. Clearing her throat, Iolanthe looked around uncomfortably before taking a breath and shouting the name louder. “Jaye!”
--
The hysterical woman jumped and whirled around, slipping on an ill-placed patch of mud and slamming down to the ground on her knees. Ignoring the unpleasant squelching noises as she pushed herself up out of the muck, she took off at a run into the thick patch of woods that ringed the house.
“Io? Io!”
Iolanthe watched Jaye run into the woods, and right past her. She had to force herself not to roll her eyes as Jaye plunged deeper into the woods, and whistled to catch the woman’s attention. Jaye skidded to a halt and fell again, but jumped up instantly.
“Iolanthe!” she said, a world of relief in the word. Io choked back a squeak as she found herself suddenly being hugged tight by the muddied woman, and resisted the urge to squirm out of her grasp. She hadn’t meant to scare Jaye, she’d just wanted to enjoy the morning. She considered briefly trying to explain this to Jaye…but then shrugged off the notion. Jaye was too busy scolding and hugging her to do much listening, anyway.
So Iolanthe stood still and let Jaye hug her, tolerant of the overly-protective woman and watching the remnants of the mist dissipate into the bright morning light.
