He was happy again, very happy. Not only did his emotional break down leave him (or so he thought) but he had told her how he felt and now they were together. Astia, his love...she actually love him back, oh he couldn't be more happier if he tried. Standing under the early morning sun, Bairn thought about Astia, and his family. Now someone cared about him that wasn't his parents or sisters. But now the stallion suddently missed his father, the one he had looked up to as a foal, and still does...but hardly has a chance to show it. Hania was wise in the department of love, Bairn felt he needed his help. Although it had been a while since he went to his father's teepee...and Aruna told him they were moving so the stallion had no idea where to find Hania. Sighing, Bairn stood there eating an apple he had found early.

How long had it been since he last left the teepee? He should have followed Aruna's advice and left a while ago to visit his mate and son, and to meet that new stallion Aruna had told him was named Bliss. He also had wanted to see his other daughter, Artemis, again, but somehow he didn't think he'd ever see her that much. He had hoped he would, but it was obvious it depended on whether or not Artemis would want to meet her father or not.
Right now, though, his father's instinct was telling him one of his children needed him, and he followed his gut, finding Bairn quickly... and eating an apple. He chuckled loudly, and made his way toward his emotional rollercoaster son. "Bairn, my son! How long has it been? I see my boy has grown up well!" He smiled his familiar smile, the one of joy and happiness. He looked around to see if his beloved Mahiri was around, but saw that she wasn't. He hid his slight disappointment and focused on Bairn. "So what have you been up to, son?"

The sudden appearance of the caramel stallion made Bairn jump back a little. Wow, a very unexpected sight. He thought to himself staring wide eyed at this father. Aruna said he changed, and it definatly seemed like it...maybe it was just the way he acted now that Mahiri and him never saw eachother. "Hi...father. I was just thinking about you." The light brown stallion got out quickly, trying to cover up the fact that he got scared. "It's been to long, I think. Far too long. And well, yes I've grown up pretty well but I'm sure Aruna has already told you everything, no?" That smile was something he rarely got to see, but when he did Bairn felt complete happiness, love and warmth...a feeling he had trouble describing. "Me? Um, well our human took the three of us on a trip, so mother, Bliss and I haven't exactly been around lately...and I just got done telling the mare I love that I love her." He spoke in a very matter-of-fact tone, trying to mimic his mother when she teased Hania. Bairn knew he missed her more then anything. "She's not here, she's probably back at the teepee."

Bairn's guess was accurate, for, although his love didn't wane for Mahiri, he was beginning to wonder what would happen if he didn't see his mate soon. "Calm as always, Bairn. You take the fun out of life," he teased, and chuckled. "Just kidding. Oh, were you? We think alike, then; I had a feeling you wanted to see me." He stepped closer to Bairn and nuzzled him. "So what's got you? And yes, your sister's informed me, but she hasn't been home in weeks."
It was true; Aruna had vanished a long while ago, and he didn't know where she was. Miakoda had moved out of her temporary home of living with her friend Krouw, and they were, yet again, moving. He didn't want to relay the news of where they were moving--it was actually quite a bit closer to his mate's home, but he had gone out today to not only find Aruna, but to also see about his other family. His instinct wasn't wrong today, it seemed. Hania smiled widely at his one and only son. "Ah, so that's where you've all been.
"I got worried that you all had left me! Aruna did leave, after all." His eyes spoke the volumes of sadness that he felt for his oldest daughter. "I think she went in search of her mate; she must be planning to live with him." Hania found he wished he had the same courage Aruna did; but he loved Miakoda, and Aruna didn't really care all that much for their human caretaker. She liked Miakoda well enough, but she was at odds with the human race a lot of the time; it was a wonder she made friends like Rahu and that Kalona... what's-his-name... Calamity or somesuch.

He nodded slowly, a content look on his face. If no one else in the family was calm, then whose job would it be to make th family peaceful? If the kids inheirited their parents playfulness, the family would have probably been total chaos. "Well, yes that who I am. And I don't the fun out of life, I just change it around a bit." Bairn teased back. His father's nuzzle comforted him again...they were father and son....but rarely saw eachother. "Ah, that we do. Really? Aruna's been gone?" Wow, that actually surprised him. He knew she didn't spend her life at the teepee like their parent did, but his sister was out and about for weeks? What was she doing? Returning the smile, he spoke, "Yes, sadly. Our human had some issues and had to get away, um...we don't live with Swafi or Artemis anymore though..." Hania's next comment made the stallion laugh. "Haha,! Leave you, father? I think if we were gone another day, mother would have taken Bliss and I and just run away from the boy. She wouldn't let us be gone forever. And Aruna...father she's a grown mare, you shouldn't worry about her. Especially if it IS Aruna. If she plans on living with Delano, then she's safe. I trust her words in that he'd never harm her." Bairn really did worry about his older sister moving away from their father, but he hid it and rather tried to comfort Hania. It was something he picked up from his mother after so many days of watching her do the same. The stallion wondered if Aruna was actually out searching for Delano though...he had a feeling Rahu was still in her thoughts.

He blinked at the news. "You don't live with Artemis or Swafi anymore? So your human moved away from the other two-legger?" He was glad that Bairn was still with Mahiri, however; he didn't think he'd like it if his mate was by herself without family; it was bad enough that he could never come around and visit. His dark brown eyes narrowed in a teasing, mock glare on his son. "What's so funny, hm? Is it so bad to wish I had family to live with? My grandniece went off to live with her parents--that would be your cousin Nora and her mate Nipper--after Aruna did her part in caring for her.
"After that, Aruna announced that she was going to be gone for a while and left. She hasn't been back in almost three months. We then had a new member to the teepee--Shimshek--our human found as we moved. The Wind mare had no name until Miakoda named her; she's an odd one, but she keeps me company... somewhat." Hania mused that Shimshek would probably rather hang out with others her age, and he suddenly longed for Mahiri again, even more so than before. He smiled at Bairn's comment on the eldest child. "True that. Aruna is Aruna, whether we like it or not. I fear that she is also still thinking of that black stallion... Rahu, or something." Hania's eyes shifted from kind and laughing to sharp and angry.
"She seemed ill to me, almost as if she had left behind reality and was living in a world all her own that only included her mate and Rahu. I hope she's all right." His eyes returned to normal. It was funny that Hania had similar thoughts to his son; but, then again, Bairn did take after him. "So, Bairn, why were you looking for me, hm?"

"No, our human decided it was better if we lived apart, but we are close to eachother still. I will perhaps visit them every once in a while though, because mother and Lalit always do." Bairn didn't exactly understand it either, but it wasn't like he had a choice. Unlike Bliss, who rarely came along to the teepee, he felt obligated to do whatever the human boy did, just because his mother did it too. "No, it's not bad, you're just a grown stallion longing for his oh-so-beautiful mate again." The stallion laughed at his own comment, "Cousin? Oh...really? Well, father we move on with our lives whether you like it or not. I mean, I'm not all that sure I'll stay with mother when I get my own family." Which was a complete lie. Bairn was way to family oriented to live Mahiri all by herself, or with just Hania. "Three months?" Wow, had it really been that long since Aruna had seen their father? "I'm sorry. And Shimshek? Well, it's good she's there I guess..." After this, Bairn knew for a fact he'd go running towards his mother and tell her about his father's 'lonelyness'. She would know what to say. Chuckling slightly, the stallion nodded. "Rahu, of course. She won't be able to forget that stallion, father I knew him...maybe not as good as Aruna, but I still talked to him...and that guy is pretty hard to forget." It bothered Bairn that his father was worrying so much, he knew it was only a parent caring for their daughter, but he shouldn't get so worked up about the whole situation. The three of them were adults now, Aruna, Artemis and him could take care of themselves. "She probably is. If that is the truth, that's just her way of dealing with her problems. When I...when I was...at that 'emotional' stage, I lived in a world where it was only me, against everyone else." "Why was I looking for you? Well, because you're my father for starters, of course. Oh, and you have a mate now I was just wondering how that is because I finally let myself open to those feelings."

"Did he? Well, Miakoda made a good human friend that one time, and now she's decided to move again," Hania said as casually as possible. "In fact, we should be much closer to each other's teepee than the last few times, but I'm out here searching for Aruna in case she wants to visit us... and so I can tell her where we are. We did just start moving recently."
He had hoped to keep that particular information a secret until after he'd found Aruna, but, as they were on the topic, and he hated keeping secrets from his family, he decided to give it away. He could trust his son to tell Mahiri about this as well, though he felt terrible that he couldn't stop by to speak with his mate at least once. A thought crossed his mind, a fleeting, albeit amusing, one. "I just realized something that may seem oddly funny..."
He cleared his throat. "Yes, that's true, and yes, I know you're both adults now, but I'm a father. I always have this want to protect my family, no matter how old they are. It's a parent thing." He winked, and then he spoke his random thought. "I just realized this, but you know that your mother is colored like the red fox, yes?" He felt a wide smile tugging at his muzzle. "Aruna's choice of a mate is quite red as well. Perhaps following a small family tradition?" he was teasing, but it was a revelation to think about.
"Aye, Shimshek. The girl seems to be growing a bit more, in the ways of the mind." He chuckled, having accepted Shimshek like a daughter, though he would never say it aloud, much the same that Aruna would never claim aloud that she thought of the pearl golden mare as a sister. "Perhaps so." He could tell Bairn needed a serious moment of guy talk, and he was there for him. "Did you? Really?" He was happy for his son; he'd heard the things Bairn had gone through, and he could only hope for the best for his youngest, Artemis.
"Now, what could be bothering you about this? If you (and that lucky mare) are having problems, what could it be?" Other than the fact that you grew up with parents who lived apart, that is... and you're afraid of that happening with you as well... Little did Hania know his thoughts might have been on the right track.

"That's good you have a human friend, I was never found of the boy, but mother loves him dearly. Won't ever leave his side to go out and try to find me, Artemis, Aruna or you." Bairn sighed, he still wished there was a way the whole family could be together again. "Really now? Well, if our teepees are close, then perhaps you and mother could visit every once in a while." Bairn was very curious though, as to why Hania or Mahiri never actually got away and tried to find eachother. The two of them always complained, but neither did anything about it. Was there a bigger reason behind that they were keeping from their children? "Oh? Tell me." "Well, perhaps you're right, I'm not very good at the whole parent thing, I don't think I'll ever understand it either." The stallion laughed at his father wink. "Yes? Hahaha, well I can tell you that I've already broken that tradition, seeing as Astia is gold. But perhaps Aruna's children will follow that and it would continue with her? And Artemis? I do believe mother told me she hasn't found anyone yet." Rolling his eyes at Hania's sillyness, Bairn never actually put that fact to thought. It seemed too...rediculous." He slightly wondered how Shimshek was with his father and Aruna, being they were a family. "That's good, right? And yes, I have...which is rather strange to me." "Astia? Well, we're not exactly having problems anymore, because I apologized, but I can't help but want to escape from what I did to her. But I just don't want what happened to you and mother to happen to me and Astia. You know, having parents who lived apart from eachother all your life. If I become a father, I don't want them to be split up, I don't want one to go through what I had to, what Artemis HAS to and what Aruna is dealing with."

"I suppose so. I feel terrible about complaining about not seeing your mother; there's this feeling in the back of my mind that says the humans are keeping us apart." Hania knew it to be true, but he denied it... and he didn't know why he denied it. "I'm sad to hear Mahiri wouldn't do that." He was sad, but it was also understandable. Did his mate love that human boy more than him? Hmm... there was something to think about... "Yes, I think I'll start doing that." He supposed he could... Miakoda took care of him and whatever Soquili happened to drop by the teepee, but she was always secluded or doing something rediculous...
Outcast. That's what she was, and she didn't seem to think she could do something about it... which probably drained over to him, making him think that, although he had the ability to go and visit Mahiri at any given time, he never did, thinking about excuses that kept him at his human's side. A light flickered on within his mind, and now he understood why Aruna and Bairn hated the human race... or rather, just didn't like them. "Ah, you did? Astia, is it? Excellent! Well chosen..." he grinned. Well chosen, indeed. It wouldn't have been fair to either Soquili if they'd chosen someone else besides the one they really loved.
"Perhaps Aruna's children will, but I have the funniest feeling she won't bear Delano's children first." Hania's gut instinct screamed at him something had happened between Aruna and Rahu before she ever found Delano, which was causing him to worry, but he didn't need Bairn to know that. The stallion worried enough as it was. "No? Ah, that problem... son, as you said, you're a grown stallion. If anything, do as you want. You have my permission." He closed his eyes, sagging slightly with his sadness and frustration. "I understand. It's impossible to really do anything different.
"I mean, if that's your worry, I'll leave my human and come see your mother more often. Epona knows how much we both need it." He straightened, and returned to his normal, glowing, cheerful self. "I feel horrible that Artemis didn't get to know either mother or father very well... especially me or Aruna, but some things cannot be helped. Perhaps we should visit Artemis sometime, to see how she's doing? And Bairn..." He smiled at the younger stallion. "Don't feel like you've abandoned Mahiri if you do plan to stay with Astia. Your old stallion's here to keep an eye out for her. It's time I actually did something, anyway."

"Well, that 'feeling' is 100% right, father. They are, which is probably why Aruna and I dislike them so much. And it's not your fault you complain, you just miss someone you love so much. Mother has her priorities mixed up, I believe. She thinks that if she leaves Lalit, something will happen to him, and she knows you can take care of yourself, so she doesn't worry." Bairn spat all of that out really quickly, it was strange talking to his father that way. It was almost like he was a messenger for his parents, and it hurt him inside. "Good, I think the two of you need it, badly."
The stallion shook his head at Hania, it seemed both his parents didn't know what they truly needed in their life, perhaps that was where he got his strange personality from. Well, he knew he'd never understand the way they think anyways, so why bother asking. "Really? Yes, Astia...there is something about her that attracks me more then any other mare did. She's opposite of me, almost...it's just...I don't know..." Bairn stuttered, trying to find the words to describe how he felt about Astia, but realized there weren't any that would even begin to.
"Rahu? If that stallion ever touches her in that way I swear I will kill him." Bairn spat out, glaring at the ground as he thought about the black evil stallion he hated so much. Forgetting completely that Hania was there, the stallion continued to talk to himself. "I swear, he better not touch her if he knows what's good for him. Children? Poor Aruna would be stuck taking care of them, he wouldn't care."
Snapping back into reality, he looked at his father and blushed. "Sorry, tiny rant. Anyways, really?" He laughed at the thought. "You're giving me permission to basically live my own life?" Bairn teased, nudging Hania a bit. "It's just, we live so far away, and rarely see eachother, like you and mother. I just fear that it's going to happen, no matter what you, mother or I do to stop it. But seeing her would help, I guess." Bairn grinned, this talk was really doing wonders for his 'inner thoughts'.
"Artemis has her own life too. She's always out doing other things with other soquili...she rarely came and visit our teepee. Mother is the only one who sees her now and then, but she doesn't speak of what goes on when they see eachother. But visiting her would be great." Bairn grinned back at his father, having no idea what was coming next, but going along with it anyway. "Really now? Haha, you'll stay with Mother if I leave? Or at least, keep her company? It's only me, her and Bliss, and he's never around so I feel bad if I'm gone too long, you know?"

"Well, that's good I know my 'feeling', then," Hania agreed, laughing. "Yes, I think mine are mixed up as well... but then again, I'm a messed up old stallion, pining away for his mate." He winked. "It's why I mated with your mother! She kept my spirits up!" And so Mahiri did; Hania missed the days they spent together; things seemed to have drifted out of their grasp as their children grew and moved on; they couldn't seem to find time (well, they did have time) to really see each other.
Hania was slowly beginning to understand his offsprings' hatred of the human race, though he knew they were all raised in ways that they more tolerated the controlling two-leggers, and he himself? Well, he was born into it, and grew up wild... so he could understand. He wasn't sure about Mahiri, his mate... but then again, he'd have to visit her to see, and ask. "Hm... having a little trouble there declaring your love? You don't have to describe it, just say it." He smiled. "Not that your mother and I are the opposites of each other, but you and Astia could probably be better off than me and Hiri ever were."
He chuckled, and shook his head. "Ranting is good, just as long as it's around me and not around Rahu. He'd have bitten your head off, I believe..." Hania's eyes lost their glow as they grew cold at the thought of the black stallion. "Children? Aruna's pregnant with his children!? Did he rape her!?" Hania demanded. The last of Bairn's words had just hit him, and not he was furious. "How can that be!? Aruna seemed perfectly fine! And she has a mate who's certainly not Rahu! How is this possible!?" He saw red for a moment, and then calmed himself.
He knew that his eldest had the ability to take care of herself; all his children did, and their personalities seemed to have sprung from having to deal with hyperactive parents so they learned how to be serious and responsible since they got out of their baskets. "Artemis does, yes. I'm glad about that." He nodded, determined. "Of course I will! I'm supposed to be with her after all! I know you feel bad if you're not around for a long while, but I promise that I will. I can't break a promise to my son, now can I?" He smiled, though he still raged inside about the sudden news that Aruna might be pregnant... with Rahu's children.

Bairn rolled his eyes, his father really knew how to cheer others up, guess he learned that from Mahiri. "That's for sure. Haha, mother knows how to keep everyone's spirit up. All she has to do is-" The stallion paused and twisted his voice to make it sound girlish, and started jumping around. "Oh my! Hehe! Today is such a wonderful day, isn't it?" He stuck his nose in Hania's face and stopped coping Mahiri. Laughing, he shrugged. "That's what I got from spending so much time with her."
"Don't say that father. You and mother are well off, you just don't know how to make it better then it is. Astia....I don't know. I just won't let myself talk about the way I feel or anything. I'm not a mushy-touchy-feely kind of guy." The younger stallion sighed, he just didn't get it either, no one did. The only one to seemed to ever understand was Aruna. But she wasn't around.
"He would have tried too, I wouldn't have let him touch me. I swear though, that stallion is so dang evil." Woah, his father scared him with his next few words. Backing up a few feet in case he was going to attack out of rage, Bairn stared wide-eyed. "Hey there, calm down! I never said she was, I said IF. She's not that stupid, she'd never mate with Rahu."
Now, a thought came into his mind. What IF she actually was planning on having his children or something like that? It was a love that was destroyed, yes....but somehow, it still existed. Bairn growled, if Aruna ever did that....he'd have to have a serious talk with her. "Good, I think I'll hold you to that promise, then. When grand-children come, or perhaps even more siblings. And no, you cannot break a promise to your son, he'd be pretty heart-broken." The younger stallion joked.

Hania blinked at Bairn's imitation of Mahiri, and shook his head. "I don't know which is worse, your mock-mother high pitched voice or you jumping around. It doesn't seem you..." He grinned mischieviously. "However, that's something your old dam can do, and something your great father can also do." However, instead of a high-pitched voice, Hania merely circled around his son in a hyperactive manner, nipping at Bairn every once in a while. "Indeed, that's what you get, but what do you get when you spend time with your old dad, eh?"
He soon calmed down and came face to face with his second child. "I guess neither of us do. I probably should've taken your sister's example and left my human a long time ago to stay with your mother. Then you, Aruna, and Artemis wouldn't be having a problem right now with the seperation of how our family is. I'm sorry you all grew up without both parents together." He laughed at Bairn's description of himself. "A musy-touchy-feely kind of guy? You hardly have to be that to prove it! Just be yourself... that's what your mate loves the most about you, after all."
Hania's dark brown eyes shifted from warm to cold and back again as Rahu was mentioned. "Aye, evil... quite evil," he agreed, somewhat embittered. "I'm fine, Bairn. You're my son--I won't attack. I am upset though. Just that thought worries me... and hey!" He mock-glared at Bairn. "When are you three going to give me grandchildren, hm? I haven't heard from Artemis in a long while... have you heard anything from your sister?" Hania wondered if any of his offspring would give him grand-offspring that he could play with and teach to have fun in life instead of being all serious like his first three were.
"Hold me to it, and if'n I break it, I hope to die... because it'd hurt me terribly to know I not only broke my mate's heart by my son's as well... oh, and not to mention the whole family. Hahaha!" He joked back.

Bairn only grinned, he wasn't ashamed of his mother-imitation, it made him feel like he could go hyper when he wanted too but chose not too. "Well, that's good then. Cause it's not me, it's mother." When Hania started imitating Mahiri, it made the younger stallion only laugh harder. "Hey! Don't bite. And spending time with you makes others feel more manly and mature." Bairn paused, and glanced at his father, hinting the fact he was only kidding.
Nodding, he listened to Hania, "It's not your fault, you cannot do anything about it now. But yes, taking Aruna's example in the beginning would have been good for the both of us. Sometimes I wish I was Bliss, he comes and goes whenever he wishes." Bairn laughed at the fact that his father found that funny, and shrugged. That was the honest opinion, what was wrong with that? "Yes. And how can you be so sure? I want to be myself, but I'm afraid of what might happen." The younger stallion just sighed again.
He noticed how Hania's mood changed whenever the black stallion was mentioned, it was good they shared the same hatred. "I understand. Don't worry, none of your children are stupid, we understand everything." Bairn smiled and his facial expression changed instantly at the mention of children for himself. "What? Ummm...I don't know that's kinda up to Astia. I'm not sure how good of a father I'd be, either. That's Aruna and Artemis's job first, they're the females."
"Good!" Bairn laughed, trusting his father enough to visit Mahiri. Hania was a very reliable guy, you couldn't not-believe him. "Haha!" Trying to get off the subject of children of his own, he asked, "What about you and mother? More kids?"
