is it bothering anyone else that people are saying that gerard is trying to be mainstream? personally i think his hair looks great and just because he felt he wanted a change does NOT mean that he is not himself! i just had an argument about this....he is still gerard....right?

The change of hair has something to do with the new identity My Chemical Romance is pursuing in/as The Black Parade. Check the interview on their myspace.

Verbal Discrepancy savetherainforest is it bothering anyone else that people are saying that gerard is trying to be mainstream? personally i think his hair looks great and just because he felt he wanted a change does NOT mean that he is not himself! i just had an argument about this....he is still gerard....right? The change of hair has something to do with the new identity My Chemical Romance is pursuing in/as The Black Parade. Check the interview on their myspace. Yeah, he says he wants to look(and maybe feel?) more like the Patient, the main character of what their writing about. But, I mean, doesn't Gerard do that often? He cut his hair to shoot the Ghost of You video, I think it was that one. I think he's pretty enthusiastic about getting theatrical and all that. I suppose he likes it. But I don't get why it'll be mainstream. They are pretty much doing their own thing.

I think his hair looks awesome, Though I will admit when I first saw it I thought he was Eminiem sweatdrop I think it's great he's trying to get into character. It makes the songs more emotional.

I think this CD is less "mainstream" than Three Cheers was. But that's just my opinion... And I've come to love Gerard's hair, as well as everyone else's new looks.

To be honest its gone past being funny (i found peoples stupidity funny to start with) and now kinda annoying. People don't realise that you can change your whole body and your still the same person. But most people who go on about how main stream they are listen to s**t bands like aqua just because they think its cool to listen to uncool crappy music. Or maybe its just all the kids I know who are like that.
People feel he changed because of his hair and make a big deal out of it but i see a huge upside to it it weeds out all the fair weather fans who only liked them because Gerard is hot and because they were the in band everyone loved.

Daisukii Why are people still talking about his hair?! GET OVER IT! yeah that was my whole point i guess right there. people need to learn to leave him alone! yes, it is HIS hair! and its theatrical, not mainstream. im glad so many people dont think he has changed though. and even if he did, it wouldnt matter because he is still him and my chem is still my chem!

Just because a band changed their look doesn't mean they are mainstream. Nothing has changed, just the outside. MCR will remain MCR no matter what Gerard's hair may look like. People will find any kind of crap just to make MCR look bad and try to expose them as all the other bands out there. Some people are stupid, really. rolleyes

I agree with the smart woman above.
I haven't seen any lead singer of a "emo" styled band (I know they aren't emo! And I know emo is a genre shesh! Its a stupid stereotype) have their hair practically shaved and bleached blonde. If anything he's coming OUT of the mainstream. So what if Gerard is "not as hot anymore". He's Gerard, and we love him. I think he's still gorgeous, and just because he hasn't got black hair anymore shouldn't be a reason to dislike his decision. Im sure there was a well thought out reason behind it.

Ya know what, I realy don't care what anyone says about his new look.
Haters are always going to find something to b***h about. First it was "oh my god he's so emo! Long black hair and he wears make up?!" Now that he bleached and cut his hair they're bitching about him going mainstream? It's just stupid.
