Chloe landed in Pastoria, immediately sloshing in the middle of a puddle. Alkaid burbled her amusement as Entreri literally was rolling on the ground laughing at her misfortune as Chloe grimaced, looking at her now-muddy boots with distaste.
"Just great. Get out of one thunderstorm, and land in a puddle... Just my luck..." she muttered, sighing as she took a glance around.
She had never before been to Pastoria. And, truth be told, she wasn't sure too many people frequented the town. It seemed quiet enough, although there seemed to be some big to-do at the Great Marsh. There seemed to be a grand opening of some kind, but Chloe had enough of mud for one afternoon to slosh around in the marsh for a bit, as tempting as it sounded...
Note the sarcasm.
Smiling faintly to herself as she tried in vain to wipe the mud from her shoes, she trekked her way across town, seeking the local gym. She didn't know too much about the place, so the gym's location was completely beyond her. And Chloe always did have horrible direction sense...

After many wrong turns, misdirected attempts to right herself, Chloe found herself in front of the gym. Entering the building, she gulped.
"That's.... a lot of water..." she observed, looking to the precarious pathway across the gym. Logs lined many of the pathways, barely strapped together. It didn't look to safe...
"I'm here to challenge the gym leader!" she declared, hoping to high heaven that she wouldn't have to try to balance on one of those stupid logs while battling.

Which continued to spin, and dropped Chloe in the water unceremoniously with a splash. "You'll have to work on your balance a bit if you wish to fight me!" Wake declared with a boisterous laugh, as the former wrestler hopped easily onto a floating platform as his Gyarados arose to challenge Chloe. The sea dragon let out a defiant roar as it crashed into the water, unable to continue. Wake recalled his Gyarados, a bit startled, but still grinning.

"Oh you'll be taking me seriously alright," Chloe muttered with a confident grin.

"Cael, use Dragon Rush!" Chloe called, as the Dragonite dashed forward, slamming into the Quagsire, earning a bit of payback for the earlier Slam.

"Crafty we may be, but we're taking you down," Chloe grinned, glad to see Wake on his toes. She still had plenty of back-up for Cael, but wanted to see how far the Dragonite would get on his own. She had little doubt he could make it through the remainder of the battle.
"Alright, hang in there, Cael," Chloe advised, "Use a Roost to restore a bit more energy!"

The Slowking used another Zen Headbutt, as Cael threw a Thunderbolt his way, the two attacks collided, creating a miniature explosion that wracked the gym with an aftershock.

The Slowking Struck with another Zen Headbutt, as Cael finished the job, a quickly placed Dragon Rush knocking the Slowking from the battle.

"Well then, that was a very fun battle!" Wake laughed, passing over Chloe's desired badge. She took it gratefully, but honestly didn't have that much fun with the battle as he did. Getting plopped in a pool wasn't her idea of a gym battle. Cael has gained +48 exp!
