Above the coffee shop on the corner of the street is a series of apartments that the owner gives and rents out to various anthros in need of a place to stay. The apartments stretch out behind the shop, as the owner's home is occupied on the first floor behind the store front as well. For those who consider the smell of brewing beans and the whirl of grinders and expresso machines to be comfort, perhaps the rooms above the coffee shop are the best choice of residence.

Personality: Quirky at times, she can be incredibly compassionate and serious. She's not very open about herself, but seems to be able to know exactly what it is others are feeling at times. It is rumored that she is an empath because of this knack of hers.
Situation: Kara owns the coffee shop as well as the house behind it and the apartments above it. It seems that she's made it her business to offer jobs to those that walk in the front door, or are dragged off the street, looking half-dead and confused. She never asks questions about where they came from or why they're in that state, simply throws one of the mint green aprons at them, shows them how to brew coffee, and gives them a set of keys for their new room upstairs.

~-Kieran-~The Room: Kieran chose one of the smaller rooms in the apartments for himself. It's only a twin bed, with a small bedside table with one drawer and a lamp on top of it. The covers are a muted mint green color, and he keeps his area very tidy. The only bit of personalization in the room is a framed piece of art on the wall. It was a raven soaring over black landscape with a red sun in the background - a rather depressing piece with grainy paint. Paint that was more ash than anything else. There was a story to it, that Kieran wouldn't tell.

Kieran comes off as one who holds back a lot in his social interactions. The Known Past: Kieran showed up one day in the late fall, when the chill was just enough to start destroying the old crops and bite through clothes. He'd been living in a run-down apartment in the downtown area, and it was obvious he wasn't exactly prepared for the winter to come. Kara had been behind the counter when he ordered, and before he had left he had a new place to stay and a job to pay for it on top of that. The Unknown Past: He never attended college, and instead moved into an apartment with his brother to get away from his parents while his brother worked part-time and attended classes. Their relationship blossomed once allowed to, and moved into something less platonic. Once the rumors started, Maka was forced to quit his job. His grades dropped as he stopped attending classes for the taunts. Slowly, the older brother that Kieran had grown to love as a mate withered under the pressure. Kieran attempted to hold them together by trying to find a full-time job, but it was difficult when no one in the small town would hire an incestuous, gay little brat. He eventually got a position as a receptionist for a tattoo parlour, and was able to keep the rent paid and food in the fridge. Maka, however, never really recovered from his own emotional entanglements. Kieran suggested moving, but it fell on deaf ears. Within three months of them living together, Kieran came home from work one evening to find Maka dead in the bathtub. Utterly shattered for one day, the other men that Kieran worked with at the shop took care of him until he could get his feet under him and move out again. Maka's remains were cremated, and Kieran had a small amount mixed into black ink for the first and only tattoo on his back - the single, black wing of a fallen angel represented his brother, who would always be his own guardian angel even if Heaven threw him down. Kieran mixed the rest himself into the painting of the raven, giving his brother the wings he never had over a desolate landscape that Kieran couldn't bring himself to paint any other way. ~-Iniko-~The Room: Iniko's room is spacious, with a walk-in closet. There are heavy curtains over the two windows, almost always pulled closed. His comforter is black, and he has a dark colored rug as well. There aren't any pictures hanging on the wall, but he does have a desk on one wall that's covered in papers. He isn't very tidy, but there isn't enough in the room for it to even look disorganized.

He's quiet when he does talk, and tends to not look anyone in the eyes. He does his best to cover his scars, hiding a lot from the people that tend to walk into the shop by ducking behind the counter. It's hard, at times, to get anything out of the timid rat. Once he's cornered though, or if it has something to do with his writing, he seems to be a completely different person. He has confidence about what he writes, and expresses it freely. The Known Past: Kieran helped Iniko in one evening, having found the other sitting rather dumbly on the side of the street outside the shop when he was getting ready to close everything up. The rat looked to have been beaten up, but Kieran soon learned that the scars were much older than that. When introduced to Kara, the young fox ushered him into one of the rooms upstairs and into his new job without any questions. The Unknown Past: Iniko was in an orphanage since before he could remember until about the age of twelve. From eight and above he was in a few simple grammar, spelling, and reading classes that were offered where he was staying. At the age of twelve, he was adopted by a man with less-than-savory plans in life. He was taken in as more of a servant-slave than another member of the family, tending to the three sons in the family - the two oldest of which took out their frustrations and angers on the young rat. The scars that he now tries to hide were gathered since he was twelve years old until his early twenties when he finally managed to strike out on his own. The most interesting scars are the ones around his ankles and neck that marked the heavy chains he bore on and off during his time. In his new home, he wasn't allowed to learn anything in regards to schooling, but Iniko snuck behind everyone's back whenever he had the opportunity. His favorite place in the whole house was in the vents above the library, where he could listen to the real sons' lessons.
