Rednal appeared in the middle of the arena where his schedule had told him to go if he won his first match. He did not remain standing, which would have made his entrance cool. Appearing out of nowhere and having a cloud of dust fly to the side was a great entrance, after all. Rednal couldn't manage that very well. Instead, because he had been going much too quickly to stay safe by combining one of his spells, Overtaker, with a normal technique, Shunpo, he appeared and went tumbling to the side, barely managing to stop before he would have slammed into the side wall. The red glow around him died out, and coughing slightly, the boy walked back towards the middle of the ara.

The large seven foot tall shinigami walked in from the entrance of the arena. After a moment of walking he reached the elevated floor that his opponent has already stood on. Ugu then jumped up from the ground and onto the wooden flooring.
A tremor shook the wooden flooring the second the man's feet landed. He pulled out his soul cutter from his sheath, gripping it with both of his hands. The man kept the sword in front of himself, loosely bobbing the tip of the blade in front of himself. No words were spoken from Ugu's mouth. He squared his stance, and straightened his back. The man waited for his opponent to make the first move.
Ugu looked down at his short opponent with his lime eyes. Six yards, or so, was the only space between the two fighters. A smile crept onto Ugu's lips.

Rednal stared at his opponent for a long moment, noting the way the other moved and entered. Well, at least the boy had a fairly good idea of how his opponent would be fighting. Drawing his sword, he held it out in front of him in a basic stance. It was time to see how good he really was. "Blood Dancer." the boy said quietly.

Ugu muttered something along the lines of "Red Ocher Renewal, Egeus" and remained fixed in his stance. His sword, beginning to enter its shikai, grew a foot after a glowing light emitted from from its shiny metal. Its rounded katana-like tip turned to a more European shaped edge as it turned into its stronger form.
A then whisper fell from his lips, again, as he awoke a technique from his soul slayer. ".. Chishio Sakurifaisu.." Egeus, Ugu's soul cutter, gleamed from its base to its furthest tip.
The shinigami let out a breath as he remained in his sturdy stance.

Rednal watched his opponent for a moment, then sighed and scratched his head. "What a pain." he grumbled. "Guess this calls for experimenting. Phantom Fly." as he was surrounded by a red aura, Rednal shot forward towards his opponent.
He had already been judging his opponent, from the second the man made his appearance in the area. From the man's physical looks, his blade, and the unconscious feeling he was giving off, Rednal figured that this opponent of his was the sort who used power to win his fights. He probably had other skills too, most Shinigami did, but he really did seem like the type who had powerful techniques. Rednal had chosen his boosts to compensate for that.
The boosts were Rednal's style. A series of special abilities that would help him take advantage of his opponent's weaknesses. Not the most grand style, and by far not the showiest, but an effective one nonetheless.

Ugu let out a small breath. Rednal was roughly five or more times slower than the shinigami that Ugu had just defeated. From what Ugu gauged, anyways. So Ugu remained standing with his sword in front of himself, un fazed by his opponent's boot-jutsu.
He kept his blade up as he chanted a minor incantation. "... Way of Binding No. 12 Chains of Earth, Constrict your soul, Bound by my will, Chains of earth constrict and coil...." Within moments several chains would burst from the wooden flooring beneath Rednal. The twelve-some chains would send several hundred splinters up into the air as they would attempt tp grapple upon Rednal. Each thick chain link sprun up around Rednal, threatening to twist and wrap the shorter shinigami.

Rednal slipped through the chains and out to the side, beyond their reach. That was the effect of Phantom Fly; the ability to dodge much better. It was far from perfect, of course. Some things just couldn't be dodged, and it amplified his body's abilities. Injuries reduced its effectiveness... as well as that of most of his abilities. Keeping his cool, as always, Rednal used the next move he had planned.
It was quite simple. Step one, Shunpo. The boy flickered out of sight and reappeared behind his opponent. Step two, swing down hard with the blade. Rednal usually wouldn't have even tried such a move, but he had also activated Blood Dancer, the spell he had to increase his strength. Even with his normal physique, Blood Dancer let him hit hard.

His eyes watched his opponent just 'pass by' his holding kidou. Then he let out another breath, and he tensed his grip on his blade so that he'd had a better 'snap' action if his opponent showed up at his sides. He let out another small breath from his mouth.
He began chanting, quickly stringing together the words of his next kidou. "Ages remorse, thunderous shallows...."
Focus. Eternal focus. The shinigami quieted himself, centering his mind and spirit energy inside of himself and inside his soul cutter. 'The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered,' he thought to himself, within a heaven splitting flash of thought, as he reminded himself of Confucius.
Ugu's shikai finally entered its full state. Two three foot long pauldrons shaped themselves on the large shingami's shoulders. Rednal's blade then connected to Ugu's left plate and was blocked. A chuckle came from Ugu while he finished his spell. "... evaporating shallows."
"A tree hits harder, Rednal," the shinigami added cleverly. A ground ripping gale then tore from Ugu, bringing up splinters and exploding chunks of wood from the ground. For 21.88 yards the wind road out, pushing away the air and splinters with the kidou technique. With that powerful wind rushing out from Ugu's pores, a flame viciously flowed out for a scorching 10.94 yards.
At the beginning of the fight Rednal was at the center of the 12x12 floor (Post 2: "the boy walked back towards the middle of the arena"). That meant that Rednal was 6 yards from the edges of the arena. At the beginning of the match, Ugu position himself at the edge of the elevated ground (Post 3: "Six yards, or so, was the only space between the two fighters"). That'd meant that Rednal had appeared behind Ugu, in the air or on a very thin piece of wooden battleground.
Coupled with the blast of flame-wind, Rednal would most probably find himself flying into the crowd.

Indeed, Rednal was quite impressed with his opponent's move. Working like that had been an impressive display of thinking. However, Rednal was usually a step or two ahead of his opponent for one simple reason: He never assumed that what he did would actually work. Hence, at the moment his blade connected with his opponent's strange armor, the boy had assumed his opponent had a counter ready and had dodged forward and to the right.
The flames were most impressive. He had never seen anybody use a technique that way before; he'd have to remember it. It seemed a different set of tactics were required. The red aura faded away a moment later, and shrugging, the boy chose a different pair. "Heaven's Tracker. Heartbreaker." he said quietly. The red aura flared up again.
That done, Rednal launched forward towards his opponent, going no faster than he had before. He might try speed later, if this didn't work, but the boy rather thought it might. Unlike Blood Dancer, these two were effective no matter what.

"See?" We aren't late," Okuni smiled as she walked int from the gates for the audience.
Zenmaru-kun seems to be doing well isn't he?" She smiled as she looked back at the following Bukotsu whom was behind her. Taking a seat she watched as Ugu faced his opponent. She looked to see if Bukotsu was still behind her was well before she sat down.

Ugu let out another breath, and began focusing more so on his inner self. Flames covered the wooden floor of the 12x12 yard arena, crackling and sending small bits of flame off its edges. Cracks, splinters, and other pieces of hurricane-like damage also was present on the battlefield, adding to the destructive effect of Ugu's jutsu. The shinigami remained still, unmoving, and stalwart against his shorter foe.
Rednal wasn't pushed away into the crowd or wounded. Ugu's opponent seemed to have escaped by some weird invisible technique or have done some sort of flash step to move out of the 12x12 radius in order to dodge the AoE kidou. Ugu then let out another breath of steady air as his opponent rushed toward him.
The shinigami noted something. His opponent, Rednal, was saying words before his changes in appearance. That meant that Rednal was probably doing spirit energy draining techniques to boost himself physically. Probably. So, through that observation, Ugu deduced that his opponent was using his spirit energy to boost himself while using up spirit energy. Rednal was most likely using techniques that'd drain himself to exhaustion before an hour was up.
He sighed and kept his soul cutter in front of himself.

As Rednal neared his opponent, he used Shunpo to finish the distance and reappeared only two feet in front of his enemy. It was entirely unnecessary, but a dash forward at the end succeeded in putting others off balance mentally nearly ninety-nine percent of the time, giving it good enough odds for Rednal to use. He was not worried about a counter this time.
His first boost this time around, Heaven's Tracker, was a nasty little kidou. Against the name, it did not allow him to track targets through umpteen miles of wilderness. Not by far. Instead, the technique sent information to Rednal's subconscious mind, telling him exactly what the weak spots in anything were. For the first time around, it was getting through his opponent's stance.
That was not enough, however, to be of true use. So he immediately went onto stage two and located the points on his opponent's shoulder guards where it would break if struck correctly, his technique allowing this to be done at the speed of thought. Everything had a weakness, after all, you simply had to know what it does. Having located that, the boy twisted his blade around so he was holding it in one hand and brought it up to hit both of the guards simultaneously.
This was the reason he had chosen Heartbreaker as his second. Heartbreaker, surprisingly, did rather what it sounded like it might. The technique allowed Rednal to shatter things that ordinarily he would be unable to. As an integral part of his blade, Rednal's boosting spells were of a high enough level to be effective even against Shikai, and possibly Bankai. That second part, however, had not yet been proved, and the boy had no intention of testing it anytime soon. He was confident, however, that his opponent couldn't withstand the less-flashy aspect of Rednal's precious Ein Sou.
The entire move had taken approximatly half a second.

The shinigami's right hand fled the hold of his soul cutter as his opponent neared him. His trunk-like left hand snapped to his left to whip his soul cutter toward the side of Rednal's oncoming sword. Flat edge pushed against flat edge, as he applied a force to move his opponent's weapon/arm to veer off toward the sky.
A calm and unexcited breath exited his lips.
Ugu's right hand, which had separated from Egeus, now pointed at his opponent's exposed chest. His hand opened up, palm facing the quite near the chest that belonged to Rednal. "Way of Destruction Number Four White Thunder, Byakurai." A spurt of lightning spewed from Ugu's finger tips in the direction of Rednal, sending a bright white flash through the two feet distance separating them.

"Alright alright," Bukotsu said taking his seat and observing the match. His eyes hadn't left the match when he had heard from Okuni that Ugu was doing well.
Ugu could not be psyched out mentally, his mind was very fortified, and a very powerful body to add onto that. The opponent however, was using spells to boost his power, and clearly seeing that he also used reistu draining spells to give him that power.
The only thing that Bukotsu had sought about that the shingami named Rednal was that he was relying too much on boost or bonus stats from his spells. Although, to him Ugu was also very technical with his style of fighting, and that was what gave him edge with his match before. But Ugu did have some weaknesses.
Bukotsu had been sitting there with an observative look on his face. In his mind, power is not what makes you powerful, it is how you deal with other power make you powerful. One of the many ideas that Bukotsu had learned from his previous match.
