Ona'raha confronts them due to curiosity and surprisingly makes friends with them both.

Ona'raha, Rehema and Malik. )

Ona'raha was for once not with his other pride members, for the fact was that though they were of the same pride they were not of the same clan and he could not help but feel a stab of jealousy at the reunions going on around him. It seemed that every other clan had atleast two members there together, or none at all. But yet, to be left alone with not a single familiar face left the adolescent somewhat heartbroken.
He wanted to find a friend, he didn't want to be alone.
Yet for now there was nothign he could do until the spirits aided him and with his newly filled belly the young male got to his feet and stretched his carmel coat beneath the rays of the sun. Tongue curled between his jaws as he yawned, the action ending in a low 'whuff' that echoed around him.
Then tossing back his head to rid his face of the wisps of mane he released a roar to call any close by to him. Shadow clan or not, he just wanted some company.

"Just lil' further, ya?" Malik encouraged his friend, carrying most of the chocolate lioness on his back. She was in horrible shape... they hadn't even thought it a possibility that his own father would turn on them like that. Then again, there was something wrong. Something in his eyes... it was nothing like the lazy oaf that he knew as his father. There was blood, malice, and a burning in those eyes that even had Malik- a goliath of a lion -shaking. He'd gotten away with a few clawmarks to his side and leg, not enough to slow him down but Rehema hadn't been nearly as lucky, "Lookit, dere's some rocks up a'head an' shade. I'll go n' get somefin' tah fill yer belly. Sure dere's water nearby too."
Rehema snorted, walking along with the three legs that would allow it. Perhaps more wounded than her body was her ego... she was supposed to be better than this. She should be able to walk on her own, she should have brought Mwali down for what he did... "I can hunt just fine, I just need a few hours of rest is all. We've been walking forever..."

The scent of blood halted Ona's roar and his jaws clipped shut with a deafening click. Eyes widened in their sockets and his nostrils flared as he drew in that terrible scent. It left a mettalic tang on his tongue and scent a rush of fear through his body. By the Spirits! Why would their be blood of a lion on the wind? His body quivered and in his usual timid ways the lion crumpled to the ground, letting the sea of grass consume him.
It was a moment later that his waiting paid off and on the horizon he spotted two figures. His keen eyes could make out no markings on their pelt but it seemed as if one aided the other. Though in his mind Ona wished to turn and run he knew in his heart he could not. The strangers were heading straight for Ela'wadiyi territory and it was his duty to approach them. By the scent he could already tell that atleast one of them were wounded so that might give him the edge he needed to escape if things turned bad.
So with this in mind the stocky lion rose and moved towards them, his ears forward, head held parrallel to his shoulders and movements cautious. "H-hello?" He greeted them cautiously, prepared to run if the need arose.

Rehema snarled, looking forward as the stranger approached her. She'd heard the roar before and dreaded that it had been Mwali coming to finish them off. Seeing the stranger she relaxed slightly though she still had her teeth bared towards him. A wounded lioness did not like to appear weak.
"Chillax, Reh." Malik paused, looking down at the lion. He was younger... likely smaller than he was. Even wounded Malik had quite a bit of punch to him still, "'ey dere kiddo, mind tellin' where we got ourselves tah? We been lost fer a bit. Never been outsdida' de pride lands ya' know?"

Seeing as Ela lions were naturally smaller than most others it was doubtful that Ona'raha would ever be able to look down on outsiders and as he drew closer to them he did indeed find his eyes being drawn upwards. At the male's strange accent the lion put on a strained expression as he tried to understand what was being said.
His eyes darted to the female who was snarling and he took a nervous step backwards, his tail curling around a hind leg. Then swallowing he tried his best to reply without a shake in his voice. "You are in the lands of my pride; the Ela'wadiyi." He glanced again at the wounded female and released a small, low whuff sound. "Are...are you okay, miss?" She certainly seemed like she'd been in the wars.

Rehema growled, pulling herself off of Malik to stand on three of her legs. The fourth was curled up against her chest. Badly wounded, bittten around the paw and clawed around her shoulder. Her hind leg didn't look so hot either but by her upturned head and stubborn stance- she was a proud creature. "I just got the wrong end of an angry lion is all."
Malik rolled his eyes, leaning back against the lioness before she could teeter over, "We got in a fight, ya? Didn't see it comin' fer miles. Never thought it. Real dangerous though, ya? Dunno if our pride'll be too happy wif us. Is there some'ere we can take a breather fer a bit? Didn't mean nothin' bad comin' 'ere. Never been outsiddah da pride lands."

Ona'raha blinked and shifted from one paw to the other, making sure to keep his distance from the brown pelted female. She was definately larger than him and the fact that she wasinjured had probably fuelled her temper. Instead he let his ears droop a little and returned his attention to Malik, noticing the roll of his eyes. "Well I'm no Alu'ladi but I'm sure no one will mind if you stay for a while, as long as you didn't bring trouble following you..." He gazed at the land behind them. "We are a small pride and wish to live in peace." He smiled a little, "but you're wounded and it is only fair that you rest here..." He set his eyes on the female again, peering into her strange-coloured eyes. They were from another pride but they definately didn't smell like Darkfire, plus the male seemed friendly enough. "There is water not far from here, though perhaps you'd prefer to lay in the shade?"
Thalion
"See?" Malik glanced over to Rehema who still seemed a bit doubtful, "They gots wattah' for us tah rest by. Maybe we can soak dose scratches n' bites fer ya. Where dere's wattah dere's somethin's tah hunt. I can bring back somethin' for everyone n' it'll 'elp ya get yer strength back." He looked down at the smaller male, ducking his head in a grateful bow, "Ya dat'll be nice. We didn't bring nuffin' neither. We lost 'em a few days ago n' I think 'e was tryin' tah get somehwere else."
Rehema snorted. "...yeah thanks...." She leaned her paw back on Malik's back, obviously still suffering from her bruised ego... she'd been so strong in the pridelands. Now she could hardly walk on her own. Damn Mwali for everything.

"That's good to hear. Let me...lead the way." He turned his back on them though kept his head canted so that he could peer at them out of the corner of his eyes. He was still a little nervous of them and it was clear in the jittery movements of his paws against the ground. Luckily the water was not far and the scent soon caught at his nostrils as he neared it's edge. Then coming to a halt by it's edge he craned back his head to see where they were.

Malik walked after the young male, careful to go slow enough to allow the lioness what comfort he could and keep her leaning against him. They were a little behind the stranger but eventually caught up. "Dere, see? Watah. Good for ya...." The golden lion slowly laid himself down to allow Rehema to do the same.
"I see it..." She muttered, laying herself down on the ground. She didn't drink just yet. It felt wonderful to be off her paws for once. They'd been traveling with very little rest since the incident. "...thanks again kid."

Ona tilted his head curiously at the pair and couldn't help but smile. The male's accent was so strange that he had to concentrate to understand him and the female seemed strange in her ways. Weren't females supposed to be the more calm and placed ones? He gave a shrug and nodded before sitting himself down. "You're welcome." Then he continued, "I am known here as Ona'raha Subiani." He spoke his surname only because he was proud of the name his mother had passed down to him. "Of the Shadow Clan." He added, as far as he was concerned, all lions should have surnames and clans! He didn't know any different.
Thalion
"I'm Rehema." She said quietly, laying her wounded paw over the other. "We came from the pride lands..." The question would be- would they be allowed back? They'd been with Mwali when it happened, when he turned on them. She wasn't sure and frankly it might not be worth going back to find out. The king was dead... gods only knew what was to become of the place now. Of her parents and siblings. She went quiet after her introduction, slowly licking at the bite on her paw.
"An' I'm Malik." The male said proudly as he sat himself up. "An' like she said we come from da pridelands. We were goin' tah th' firekin place to look for mah bruddah. Dey took 'im 'way when I was still a lil' bugger. Hopin' 'e's still alive wherever dey took 'im. He looks more red den me, 'as kind o' a pink mane- you seen 'em?"

He listened to them quietly and nodded where appropriate, flicking his ears towards them. "Nice to meet you both." He was curious as to why they did not give surnames, but decided it wasn't an important factor at this time.
He looked somewhat surprised at Malik's story, and from the details he managed to scrape together he came to realise that something bad had happened between two prides he did not know of. "I am sorry, but I have lived a somewhat sheltered life. All I know of is my own culture and the only outsiders I have ever known sought to destroy my life. We have had no lion of that description here I'm afraid...though I do hope you find him." He nodded solemnly. "I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you."

Malik's ears lowered with disappointment. He hadn't expected Azize to be this far away from the firekin boarders but there'd been a thin chance that maybe he had. "Naw, ya let us come 'ere n' stay fer a bit. We been walkin' fer long time, not sure 'ow many days. We was runnin' so much we kinda lost track ya know? Don't wanna get killed an' leave mah bruddah out dere all 'lone wiffout someone tah look fer 'em ya know?"
Rehema's ears rotated back at the mention of outsiders, she hated them as well. It was an outsider that took Azize, an outsider that killed the king, outsiders that were forming the hunting parties now. Bunch of giggling twits the lot of them. "Well we don't mean any harm. When I can walk we'll be on our way. Never meant to bother you anyway."
She looked to her paw with a wince... when she was able to walk that was. It might be a while. She could't even feel her toes at this point.

"Of course, I can understand all too well how it is to lose a family member. You must do everything in your power to help him!" He nodded firmly and grimaced as a harsh breeze whipped stray bangs of white and silver mane into his face. He paused to let the shrill cry of the wind die down and shuddered, lowering his head a little.
"I trust that you won't do anything bad. I think that we seem to understand one another pretty well considering we are strangers." He smield and wiggled his toes cheerfully. It was good to talk!
"I'm glad I got to meet you both, I was feeling awfully lonely until you came along. My clan is all but wiped out and the other clans seem to stick together quite a bit. We're all very friendly though so don't worry about that, I'm sure you can stay until you feel well again."

"Mmm sounds like the gaggle of prissy gals back home to me." She snorted between licks. Those lionesses....always playing favorates, ignoring anyone that wasn't a part of their little social group. Whatever, the boys were more fun, more willing to get dirty if a good brawl came right down to it.
Malik nodded, "I'm sorry tah hear dat. Our pride's very big no? Lotsa new ones come outta no where, lots of lil' shitlins runnin' round too. Take a step an' ya squish one. Gettin' crowded, don't know who no one is no more. Guess it's kinda lonely too. Lotsa faces but none you know, no?"

"Sometimes being in a crowd is just as lonely as being by yourself." He nodded, "but to be honest, since moving to these new lands I have the feeling all our clans will merge somewhat. There are few of us now so until our numbers grow we'll need one another to hunt aswell as other things." He laughed at how Malik reffered to cubs and grinned, "it'd be lovely to see cubs around here, not been any Ela'wadiyi births for many days now."
It was his dream to see his clan reborn but he knew the only way for that to happen was to take a mate and for that he'd need an outsider....and for that he'd need courage. He sighed and found himself sinking into depression again. "But I think that is all going to change soon, cubs are on the way and I can't wait to see them!" It would be amazing to see the bundles of fur running about carefree. They would be an inspiration.

Rehema chuckled, flexing her claws, "That would mean the males would have to get off their back ends and help out I'd imagine. If you're the only one in your clan you're in for a long tradition of frusterating and disappointing hunts. Even a skilled lioness fails most of the time- even if she's got a hunting party." She shrugged, "Might have to live off of the little pickins for a while."
"Rehem c'mon 'e's just a kid." He snorted, shaking his head, "I can help out fer a while. Told ya I'd get somefim. Boys can hunt just fine. I bring down lots. Ya just gotta not get disappointed when ya don't get it the first seven times ya?"

He grinned sheepishly at Rehema and Malik, his eyes sparkling as he laughed quietly, his sides quivering from the action. He was definately under-nourished, but since coming into contact with other members of the pride he had been getting food. "To be honest I was seperated from my parents as a juv so I've never been taught how to hunt very well. I've only ever caught a rabbit in my lifetime...poor I know." He dipped his head in shame.
"I've been trying to teach myself though and it's going quite well! I'm sure if you wanted to help you would be most welcome to!"
"I've been trying to teach myself though and it's going quite well! I'm sure if you wanted to help you would be most welcome to!"
Thalion
"Psh... you'd be better getting hunting lessons from a meerkat than Malik." She lifted her head proudly, "I taught him everything he knows. It's about getting close as you can. At first he'd just jump out and roar, thinking that would kill them." She shook her head. "It was kind of pathetic."
"Ey I got better. Brought down a gazelle m' self once. Snapped its legs right in two I did." He slashed at the air to demonstrate. Malik was a beast of a lion, firekin royal blood giving him the bulk of his father. His mother had been a fine huntress as well, beautifully colored for it and slender. Both Malik and Rehema looked well fed enough, perhaps a bit thinner thanks to their trip but healthy none the less.

Kimaria]He chuckled again at the pair and their friendly bantering, lowering himself into a lying position with his forepaws stretched out together. "I'm sure Malik would do just fine, but it is true that females are the better hunters. They're built for it! I loved watching my mother hunt, there was something quite graceful about it, almost like a dance. I'd tell stories about huntresses and their amazing feats!"
"I'm sure I couldn't get any worse at hunting anyway, so any advice either you two could give would be welcome. I really want to start providing for everyone here, I don't want to be useless."
"My mother wasn't much of a huntress herself... Malik's mother was the king's half-sister and a wonderful huntress. One of the best. She took me out now and then with the other girls in her and my mother's litter. She was the nanny of sorts." She chuckled fondly, her expression softening with the memories of her childhood, "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to teach you how to make a lion of yourself."
"Das th' spirit." Malik chuckled, getting himself to his paws and shaking his mane out, "I think I'll take a look 'round. See what kinda critters ya got kickin' an' see if I can't get us somethin' tah eat. Don't wait round. Good hunters take long time a'times no?"

Ona'raha watched as the large male got to his feet, finding himself awed by how huge and strong he looked. He must have looked rather pathetic to this pair, for even Rehema looked stronger than he could ever be. Yet through his shame he knew that his size and stature could allow him to move quicker than lumbering giants and that was atleast something to be proud of.
"There's plenty of food around since the lands are new for the pride, they're very difficult to catch though!" He laughed and turned to the female. "It sounds like you led a lovely life, truly, it sounds quite different from my own. Do you not have clans like my own pride? It sounds like you all just join up together!" He knew nothing of kings for in the Ela'wadiyi there was no such thing.

"Naw, we don't got no clans or nothin' like that. Jus' one big pride ya know? Wif a king n' queen tah watch over th' others n' all their lil' shitlin's though..." He grimmaced a bit, "Our king was murdered by an' outsider. We 'eard on our way out 'ere from a white cheetah wif a red back. 'e was in a big hurry somewhere though.... Jus' keep an eye out fer any pink n' white lions."
"Ooh scary." Rehema couldn't help but laugh, "I have to question our pride if something like that got in... poor Mufasa was on his last leg though. He wasn't looking good."

Kimaria
"Oh, I'm very sorry to hear that." He looked somewhat upset by the news despite the fact he did not know the king. "Does someone so important as a king not have people to protect him? If the pride is as crowded as you say, surely someone could have caught the culprit?" He stretched his body and sighed, shaking his head sadly. "There is so much pain in the world, so much wrong doing..."
"The loss of a leader must be terrible for a pride, we have lost many but we still have authority alive here."
"The loss of a leader must be terrible for a pride, we have lost many but we still have authority alive here."
Thalion
Rehema shrugged, "No one in that pride seemed to care much. It got so large that they became lazy... Lions stick to their friends and ignore anyone else from there pretty much. I don't know how it happened, that's all we heard from the cheetah. He seemed kind of odd... I've never heard an accent like that." She glanced to Malik who was making his way off to find something to eat, humming something to himself... silly oaf. "Of coruse, no one knows why Malik talks like that either. No one had an accent like he has."
Kimaria
Ona'raha chuckled, "I've never heard anyone talk as strange as him! Though it does make conversation a lot more interesting...if a bit tricky." He flicked his tail and glanced over his shoulder at Malik was had taken his chance to leave, "is he a friend?" He was still unsure of the relationship between the two, they seemed close, but to him it could mean anything from siblings to lovers. He was unfamiliar with any sort of relationship so to distinguish them was difficult for him.
"The members that remain in my pride are wise and we know each other well. Such a strong community would never let anything like that happen. So you can rest easy knowing you are safe. I will watch over you until you are well if you like...though I expect Malik will want that duty too."

"Malik and I grew up together... our parents were close. his dad was always talking about their escape from the firekin. He was a prince or something like that." She waved her good paw a bit, "Malik's my best friend. A lot of our siblings have left the pridelands but we stuck together... the stories I could tell." She smiled a bit.
Kimaria
"A prince?" Ona'raha shifted, paying note that the word was probably another that represented class. "So Malik is of important blood?" His ears twitched, "I wish I had siblings, but my mother only had me so I've never had the blessing." He sighed, "having a sibling through hardships would have been wonderful, or even a friend as good as Malik is with you." He smiled, "I'm glad you have one another in any case."
His ears perked up at her last words though and he tilted his head curiously, "stories? I love stories! Back when I was youngster I was known as the storyteller you know!"
