In rereading New Moon, I came up with a question.
Werewolves aren't immortal, are they? After all, Jacob's great-grandfather isn't around anymore.
But they're not exactly mortals either. That much is apparent.
So, what's the story? How long does the average werewolf live? What kills them? And also, just because, who's your favorite werewolf?

They do have immortal powers but they age normally. Perhaps their lifetime is a little more extended than the average person.
No idea what kills them. I assume vampire poison would, and things ripping them apart.
My favorite werewolf, is, of course, Jacob. xD

I was on a walk with my friend, and we saw this husky dog, and started arguing about which of the werewolves it looked most like. :B And from that, we somehow came up with this question... I noticed in the book that Jacob said, 'I'll be a warewolf all my life. Maybe longer.'
That gives some hint of immortality... But Maybe just longer lives

 hmm..I would think that they lived longer then normal... ninja
I would think only vampires could kill them...
hmm...the werewolves annoy me slightly...Jacob was kind of stupid at the end.... stressed

I don't really think they are immortal. I think I remember Jacob being worried about Billy... Afraid that he'd die? Or am I making this up? I don't remember--part of the reason for rereading Twilight.
Sadly, I have no evidence to back up my opinion. sweatdrop
But yes, I agree with Desert_Moon. Vampires being the only thing that could kill them would make sense. And I also agree that Jacob was pretty stupid at the end. Can't help but love him anyway~
Jacob is obviously my favorite werewolf. Though Sam is cool.

I'm pretty sure werewolves have normal lifespans. ^^ Also, I believe it was said that this will be discussed in more detail in Eclipse. So I guess we'll just have to wait until then.

I went to a panel where somebody asked a question about werewolves. Stephenie said that there would be lots more about them in Eclipse, and that she hoped she didn't get in trouble for the background, because she really enjoyed making it up!
