Yay! Intuitive potion making!
This is a little concoction I whipped up the other night for the Summer Solstice. This holiday is good for blessing and protecting things.
This potion had several purposes:
arrow bless the house I'm staying at (1200 miles from home), and protect it.
arrow make the creepy spirit that lives here either go away or leave me alone.
arrow Bring me good health, fortune, etc on my trip (10 weeks alone in a foreign country. Fun! Scary! Please help!)
I grabbed the herbs that looked good to me. I have no memory whatsoever, and I didn't have the volume of my BOS with my herbal reference in it, so I just went with whatever each herb meant to me. Turns out I wasn't too far off the mark.
Lady A's "On the Fly" Potion for Travel, Protection, and Prosperity
Thyme --associated with the soltice
Bay leaf
Mint--I used a bag of mint tea, because it was all that was on hand.
Vanilla--I used extract, but whatever is good. I think even working with a vanilla (or even mint, if you're lacking that herb) candle would work.
Chili--Any form of pepper would work, as long as it's hot.
Ginger--Ginger is my signature scent, and thus one I associate with protection. You can replace this with whatever you so desire.
holy water/lunar charged water--either will work
Sea salt
there are two ways I thought about making this. One is to put together everything but the water, and burn it like inscense. In my case, I added the dry ingredients to the water and a pinch of salt to make a potion. As I was adding them, I was thinking along this lines, a sort of half intention, half incantation
It's Thyme for a change---(Yeah. A play on words. So sue me.)
Bay leave for health
Mint for prosperity
Chili for adventure
Vanilla for meditation
Ginger for protection
I mixed it all up, then empowered it with the elements:
By fire (dropping a lit match into the mix)
By earth (I added another pinch of salt)
By air (Blowing on it)
By water (a few more drops of lunar water)
I dipped the fingers of my power hand into the potion, and anointed every door and window. At the doors that lead outside, I added the blessing, "Peace to all who enter here."
I had a bunch of extra potion when I was done, and being on the second floor, no grass to pour it into. So I went on the balcony and poured it at the corners there. The balcony is attached to my room, and I'm always afraid someone will break in through that door, so I figured the added protection couldn't hurt.
It's been 24 hours so far. I slept good last night for the first time since I got here. No problems, I don't feel like anyone is watching me. I haven't been hearing doors open, or footsteps in the hall. All is well, and I am finally alone.
