Alright here's how its going to work. There's going to be a total of 10 ranks (we may add more if we think its necessary) The following ranks are used to help players around Koi High, to give like an 'upper hand' in RP battles, and a sense of power levels in other users. Please however don't take ranks too seriously, we still wish you would give everyone a winning chance now and then. Now each ranks effect will be something like...
-=Freshman=-
0 Stars: FRESH MEAT XD
1 Star: OH BOY!! your first star! what can i do? Well with 1 star you can create your own dorm room inside the massive dorm building. When doing so you must state in the Title [Ryoko] (boys dorm) or [Kiomi] (gurls dorm) before you list your and room no. Something like:
[Ryoko] No. 004
or something like that XD
2 stars: Now you can create one thread on the off-campus thread! This can range from your hometown to your own Restaurant!
-=Sophomore=-
3 stars: Now you can create 2 more threads for the off-campus thread!
4 Stars: You can create your own thread, inside the On-Campus thread. When doing so You must state in the Title the area that your hideout is linked off of. Like [Courtyard] or [Church] and so on so on. For example:
[Church] Issac's Room
or something like that XD
-=Junior=-
5 Stars: Nothing really. Just look kewl.
6 Stars: Now you can create 3 more personal off-campus threads!
-=Senior=-
7-8 Stars: You can now host your own events! Just make sure you PM Phoenix with the details! Your own event on whatever occasion! be it so your own characters religion or just general fun! Such as a sleepover and such!
-=Teacher/High Senior=-
9 Stars: You look super cool! xD
10 Stars: You will be asked if you want to become a Crew member ^^. ::applauds:: You can become a crew member without gaining ten stars, but only under extreme and rare curcumstances, such as non-active crew members etc.
arrow Now how do we gain stars?
There are 3 main ways to get em:
Every now and then (probably every few months) The crew members will Host an RP Test which will allow you to earn stars. There will be a limit of usually 10 people per testing (So each mod can consider each test very carefully). Basically you will Rp as your character going into a unique training room where he/she will be watched by some teachers. (the Mods XD!) They will then release unique training monsters/bots and your character will have RP out a battle against them. After you defeat the monster (Or when the Mod had enough of your pitiful Rping XD) The Mods will rate your test and decide whether you past or not.
Now however, When a crew member recognizes you for 'good behavior' and 'excellent display of RP skill'. They will pop into your Thread and grant you a Star. Each crew member is limited to giving out 2 stars each week, and must record their star given out to Phoenix ^^. This will make it more fair to everyone. Since... Star Tests are rather hard to get into with 10 slots limitation.
Also When Koi High hosts an Event, If your character succeeds in doing something in the Event, there will most likely be a Star or two to hand out ^^.
arrow What do you look for when giving out stars?
- Well, each crew member has a slightly different idea of what an excellent roleplayer is. But we are all aware of the main points that make a good roleplay for the most part.
- Originality and Creativity is one of the key points in roleplaying. I'm quite sure all of the crew members are tired of seeing overly cliche`d characters, and I'm sure they'd readily give out stars to roleplayers who have original, amusing characters with a well thought out background. Original powers and weapons are always entertaining too! The smaller things like the character's names help as well.
The ability to entertain readers is also a key point. It doesn't matter how lengthy or how well the paragraph flows, if it's boring nobody wants to read it! Be sure to keep this in mind!
Character development and personality; I'm sure this comes hard to some people; whether your character doesn't seem to develop at all, or he/she develops so unreasonably fast it just seems you lost sight where you were going with it and forgot to keep in mind your character's personality (this happens often between two characters as well). We also want reasons and motives for the changing of your character.
Length and Pacing; a well thought out sequence of events also helps the roleplay flow and is another important part of roleplaying. It's easier to pick up a visual picture this way, especially of the post flows and is well descriptive. This is important, especially in battle sequences, people!! Yes, I am fully aware that part of roleplaying is making things up as you go, but having a basic idea of where you're going won't hurt! wink Things like having seven days over the course of four posts does not impress us. And don't pace things out too long if you just plan on rushing it at the end; it makes everything seem too long and dragged out.
Use of Environment; Using the five senses is a basic rule in not just roleplaying, but writing as well. It strengthens the image in the reader's mind, and creates an atmosphere that is more enjoyable to read. Take in mind both time, place, surroundings, weather, and wildlife. Using those five things to your own advantage makes the roleplay more interesting. The smallest details can make a great impact and lets your partner have more to work off of. To see an example of this, look at the five teams in the Past Events subforum (also take note on how they're judged).
Although some people seem to simply overlook this, a sense of reality draws in readers. Though some people like to write what they wish they could be, others just want to relate with their/other roleplay characters. Though they have magical powers, they're still human (and for those character's who aren't, be reasonable!). Characters must display imperfections, it's only natural. Along with their abilities comes weaknesses, flaws, and even general things that get under their skin. No, I do not mean your character needs to have an overly melodramatic past (this is also referring to the overly cliche`d characters, as explained above). This is a fantasy roleplay, but don't go Mary Sue/Marty-Stu on our asses. talk2hand
Proper grammar, flow, and length also are important. Nobody wants to read a sloppily put together paragraph. I'm sure by now all of you can muster up more than one line, people. Be more descriptive!!
arrow Who will give out the Stars?
Crew members, Vice-Captains, and Phoenix
arrow I have more then one character. Do I have to earn stars for my second character too?
No not at all. Star's reflect your RPing abilities, not your Character itself ^^; . So if you have a character that does well say in an event, and want to build a house in the off campus thread for your 2nd character. As long as you have enough stars for either character you are free to do so.
arrow How do I know when I have received a star?
- The crew member that has appointed you a star will inform you through PM that you have received a star.
In Final The Star System is made to try to improve the Rping Community.
I hope this will improve our RPing Environment!
Full credit for this idea goes to Ria High.
