Well, I don't think I am the only one here who plays an instrument. I am very heavily influanced by Iron Maiden. How many of you are as well? Also, what do you play?

I play Bass, I also play a tad of Guitar for fun, and so I can write melody to my basslines. I play Keyboard from time to time, but it's not that great. HAHA I am terrible at it.

Other things to diguss:

-How long you have been playing.
-Are you in a band?]
-Ever covered a Maiden song?
-What Maiden songs do you know?
-Worst Maiden cover you have ever heard.
-Lots of other things along those lines. smile

I play bass and guitar, and I sing. I've been singing for nine years, playing guitar for six years, and playing bass for three years. I play bass the most though, since I'm in Concert and Jazz ensembles at school. (I also play the upright bass at school...the big one that looks like a violin.) I'm not in any bands; I just get together with random friends to do random gigs and we cover tons of different songs from various bands. I've done songs from Maiden, Iced Earth, Metallica, Judas Priest, Europe (haha), Children Of Bodom, Nightwish...like I said, tons.

Damn, the both of you have been playing for a while! Looks like I'm the instrument n00b here. I have been playing bass for almost 3 years now, guitar and keyboard for less.

@ Eddie: Dude, The Prisoner is a great song, and it's so much fun to play. The same goes for Running Free, but not many people know The Prisoner. biggrin Awesome stuff.

@ Foxtrot: That's cool. And Europe is awesome. I love playing the Final Countdown. Unfortunately, their other stuff wasn't as good as that song (in my opinion), but still cool. I play a lot of stuff myself. Everything from blues, to metal, and classical to disco. I love it all, as long as the bassline is fun.

As for me, I now know a little over 80 Iron Maiden songs on bass. I have a cover I did of Murders in the Rue Morgue in my profile. I love playing my bass.

What kind of guitars/basses/keyboards do you guys play?

I play a crappy Squier. Though, I ripped out the pickups and put in some nice Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound prescision pickups, so it sounds alright. I just need a better rig. My Ibanez amp is a lump of worthless crap. I am saving up to get a Fender 100w.

I'm totally sick of The Final Countdown. I permit my brothers to play it once a year, and that's on New Year's Eve approximately four minutes to midnight. (2 Minutes To Midnight, on the other hand, is my birthday song. I was born two minutes to midnight.) I prefer to play Rock The Night when I'm in a Europe mood.

I know too many songs for my own good. Not that I'm bragging or anything; I just spend a ton of time with music. Jazz band twice a week, Jazz Combo three times a week, symphonic/concert band three times a week, music theory and history three times a week, and practicing at home every day. After a while everything just sorta piles up, and you start mixing up lines. Like sometimes I'll be, "WTF was I just playing; The Evil That Men Do or The Trooper?" on a bad day :p

I have a Fender Jazz bass and an LTD B-50 4-string, as well as an upright bass (^^); my guitars are a Jackson Randy Rhoads V and a Jackson Warrior smile Plus this piece o' shite acoustic that accidentaly-on-purpose gets knocked around so that I have an excuse to get a new one.

I've been a guitarist and vocalist for 2 years.. I am not in a band, however, I wish I was.

I also haven't covered a Maiden song yet.. There are countless songs I want to learn and cover.. definitely should do a Maiden one sometime soon.

I have a Fender Telecaster and a crappy amp. smile

I only really started playing bass this year, I can almost kinda play Run To The Hills. I'm really not that good.

I'm a much better singer, I see a vocal coach and I've done some stuff with a friend who was a pub singer a while back. I completely drowned him out when he asked me to do a duet with him

-How long you have been playing: guitar, 3 years, also sing.
-Are you in a band? Naw, just play with friends
-Ever covered a Maiden song? Yeah, I taught myself all the songs from AMOLAD yesterday, and can play several other Maiden songs, mostly the ones from Bruce's early career. Covered Phantom of the Opera with a friend on a talent show.
-What Maiden songs do you know? See above.
-Worst Maiden cover you have ever heard. Cradle of Filth, Hallowed be thy name
-Lots of other things along those lines. Ummm, nope, sorry

yepp, i play lead guitar in a metal band. iron maiden is one of my biggest influences, along with avenged sevenfold and dragonforce. im pretty damn good, as far as people tell me. my favorite maiden song to play is run to the hills, because its so simple yet so fun. i love the whole galloping sound. and the solo is pure genious. i want really badly to do a cover of it with my band.

if anyone cares, i currently have an esp ltd viper-400... its black with grover tuners, emg 81/85 active pickups, tonepros stoptail bridge. right now it has elixir extra light nanoweb strings. but i want to switch them out for dr extralife blackbeauties. cuz black strings would look awesome. ohh, and it has a coheed sticker below the bridge. just thought i would mention that.

i use dunlop tortex .75mm picks, monster cables, and my amp is a line 6 spider II 75watt. i freakin love that amp.

My bro and I use the Line 6 Spider II as well, but we've had ours for years and the distortion has deteriorated. sad
