Damn mountains. All Daemon had to say about them. Not only were the flatter lands endless, but when they FINALLY stopped, there were damn mountains in the way. How to hell was he supposed to get around all of them? Point is, he couldn't, he had to go over them.

Daemon was tired, his legs ached but he continued on. Hoping to get to the Pridelands sooner then later. But he was tired. He stopped by a small spring from the mountain, taking a much needed drink from the small pool of water that was nestled between rocks, making a sort of bowl for the water.

His tail flicked to the side behind him as he sat in thought. Peering out into the distance. Wondering which way he should go from here. The terrain here was so strange, so odd. If only he could get directions, directions that were actually true and didn't lead him in circles.

Mtima'safi was enjoying a day out of the Pridelands, her wings were spread wide behind her and she was gliding from high on the mountains. Kianga had inspired her to go to the mountains, after their conversation. Besides, it was nice to be out and about in her natural shape. It was so nice to stretch her wings out.

Humming a happy tune, Mtima landed on a ledge of the mountain and took a good look around. There were so many mountains, and it was a great change from the landscape of the Pridelands. It also reminded her of days long past now.

From her ledge, she caught sight of something below her. There was a pool of water, and something alive. She blinked and gave a small smile, deciding to go in for a closer look.

Daemon was still contemplating on which way to go, left, right, straight, which way was it! If only he had decided to head back sooner, then he perhaps would've gotten a better sense of which direction 'home' really was. Sighing he laid his head on his crossed forelegs and gazed out into the distance.

"Think you could send something my way?" he spoke outwardly, into no one particular, though in his mind he was speaking to his mother, who he loved so dearly and missed so much. "You used to give me direction when I was a cub...think you could have something give me directions now?"

He missed his mother dearly, losing her at a young age wasn't teh best for him, especially when he never knew who his father was. He hadn't found out anything about his father on his travels either. Daemon just wanted to go back to teh place he would always call home, find the place where he belonged.

But...He felt like he was being watched. He didn't know if he should turn to look around, so he just sat and waited, and listened.

Stretching her wings out once more, relishing in it for a second, she flew down a level so she was even with the stranger. The closer Mtima got, the better view she got of him- and her smile grew, for she could tell that his soul was a good one. If she was going to run into anyone out here, it was good that it was a good soul. Not that a bad soul would do anything but possibly ruin her mood.

"Hello, stranger," she called out when she was within earshot, folding her wings neatly on her back and keeping her dual colored eyes on the white lion before her. Mtima had a benevolent smile on her maw and a curious sparkle in her eyes.

Daemon sat quietly, still reminiscing of the past. Thinking perhaps of what he could've done to change some things for the better. Thinking that perhaps leaving the pridelands in the first place was a bad idea.

Then he heard someone behind him.

But the voice, the voice was female, and sounded pure and caring. No need to worry, he calmed his heart that starting beating faster, flicking his tail he turned around, "Hello," then when his eyes fell upon the one he spoke too. His jaw merely hit the ground.

She had wings?!

He gained his composure and smiled at her, "What might you be doing out here?" he asked in a kind tone, just curious about what someone like her would be doing in a place like this. "I'm Daemon, may I have the honor of knowing your name?"

Mtima's eyes lit up in amusement when he started out casual but immediately went to shock. It was always a little amusing to see reactions to her wings, which she felt was the only dead give away- especially since she went around without her wings all the time, and nothing else seemed to give away her status.

"I came to see the mountains, and it's a pleasure to meet you Daemon," she replied cheerfully, "My name is Mtima'safi, goddess of souls." Experimentally, she decided to state outright that she was a goddess and which domain it was that she ruled. Others usually got around to asking, perhaps it would save some time.

Daemon was still in a state of shock when she spoke, but he snapped out of it and listened, even though his eyes kept falling on her wings several times. He wondered what it was like to fly, wat the feeling was like. But what did it matter, he wasn't a god, and certainly not a bird so he would never know. Perhaps someday he would dream of it, and get a vague sense of what it was like.

"Such a nice name, its very nice to meet you as well...I must say, you are the first goddess I have ever seen let alone met. To be the goddess of souls, even more interesting..." he wondered if she could read what his soul was. Sometimes in the fit of a nightmare he couldn't tell if he even had one. He hoped he had a good soul, his mother had a pure soul.

"The mountains are alright, but I would rather be in teh place I am heading then here...I miss it, and I wonder what has changed since I was a cub..." he spoke outwardly. Perhaps it was still the same, and he could meet the king and queen when he was older. His mother had told him sotires of them when he was young, his mother spoke fondly of both of them.

"Tell me Mtima'safi...or if I may, Mtima, do you know which way the pridelands are form here?"

"Why thank you, Daemon. Your name is quite fascinating, itself," she commented kindly, meaning no harm by it at all. She smiled at him when he explained how she was the first goddess he'd met, and his comment was a give away of what he was wondering about. Her nose wrinkled in amusement, she needn't tell him what kind of soul he had unless he asked- though her expression while he wondered almost dared him to do so.

"Where is that?" she asked curiously when he mentioned the land of his cubhood, hoping that perhaps she could be of some help to him. She may not be an expert of the lands, but perhaps he was looking for somewhere she knew of. If she felt particularly helpful or curious, though, Mtima might try to help anyway. Wings were a quick way of finding those who could provide directions.

Then he mentioned the Pridelands, and her expression changed to surprise.

"You may," she answered first, then laughed, "The Pridelands, you say? I do know where that is from here, actually."

Daemon eyes widened. She knew where it was? Thank the gods! Well, in this case, the godess. His tail flicked to the side and he had a smile on his face that seemed like it would never fade,
"Could you tell me? Please?"

Standing up he stretched, then stood straight up. Tail flicking back and ofrth as he just watched her for a moment. "I really want to go back...I left, but I want to go back to where I should've stayed...where my life began."

He tried to think of how to say something, perhaps that would have ehr tell him in great detail so he would no forget (though he had a horrible memory).

"Your see, my mother, she traveled there and I was born there. I lost ehr when I was young, I want to start over Mtima. Has it changed much?" he asked, curious if things were the same, if anything drastic had changed.

Mtima's eyes twinkled when he started asking her to tell him where it was, enjoying the enthusiasm. It was nice to see how much it seemed to mean to him to have a way to find where the Pridelands were now. A realization struck her, though. If he went to the Pridelands now, he'd know she was a goddess.

"Maybe," she said in a playful tone, "On one condition.."

She gave a small frown when he explained how he lost his mother, and asked about the changes. She gave a small shrug, "I couldn't tell you. You'll have to wait and see yourself."

His ice blue eyes held anticipation within their depths. He wanted to know so badly! He wanted to go home! His tial flicked to the side as he pawed at the ground somewhat beneath him,
"PLease tell me? What's the one condition?"

Curious.

What would this condition be? She was a goddess however, which could mean an endless amount of possiblities. But he wanted to know so bad. How long would he have to wait until he would finally have a real home?

"When you arrive, don't tell anyone that I'm a goddess," she stated simply, a small smile always on her face. Mtima would explain to him if he asked, and would probably even if he didn't. How unlikely it was that when coming to the mountains she would run into someone who was going back to where she'd left!

"If you agree, I'll do one better than telling you," she continued brightly, "I'd be happy to travel with you, it'd make sure you found your way. I'm heading back that way anyway."

She'd just be gone a bit longer than expected, but she shouldn't be missed too greatly. Though she was sure Kiza and the cubs would most likely notice. Mtima wouldn't be able to give detailed descriptions of landmarks because it was by sky, but she knew which way to go back. And if she did get lost, she did have wings to help find out.

Daemon smiled and understood what Mtima said, she was probably hiding what she really was from others back in the pridelands, understandable. He knew and had heard stories of lions and gods hiding who they really were, for the safety of themselves or loved one. So he didn't have to question it.

Blue eyes upon her he bowed his head to her in respect. Her offer was generous, "That is veyr nice of you Mtima but I fear I still have some memories to deal with and accept before I return, for a little while I will travel on my own. No disrespect to you of course," he said bowing again.

"It would indeed be great if you could merely point in the direction I should be going, for I have sort of lost which way to go." Shifting his weight a bit to give his legs a rest he hoped she would not be mad at him. He hoped she would understand as he understood her wish. "If you grant me that I swear to not tell a soul of your being a goddess."

The goddess let Daemon finish speaking and clarify his request, smiling at him with a clearly understanding expression. It wasn't always easy to go home, and she could understand that. If he was confident that he could find his way given only a direction, then that is all she would provide him with.

"I understand, Daemon," she said kindly, "And I'd be happy to supply you with a direction, if you feel you can keep good track of where I point you to. It's easy to lose your direction in the mountains where it's harder to track the sun sometimes."

His mind was focused on just getting home. Hoping that he would be accepted into the pride and have somewhere to be a part of something. It didn't matter to him if he even had to be a hunter or a guard to help everyone else. He jsut wanted to feel like he was part of something bigger then just caring for himself. Daemon nodded at her.

"I believe I can, if not perhaps I will come across another traveler, I'm sure I'm not the only one out here Mtima. If not I'll have my heart guide me there."
