The tome before you belongs to Inle-Roo and Tybalt. There is a seal surrounding the book, one that allows you to leaf through the pages but prevents you from adding anything. The enchantment is strong and cannot be broken so easily, if at all. So just sit back and enjoy the Tall Tale that is unfolding before you. You can visit the Stationery Store to find out how you can write your own Tall Tale.

Huni was snoozing in one of the shop's plush armchairs, a finance book lay splayed on the floor at her feet. Apparently, the red head had been studying for a test, though she fell asleep before she could absorb any information.

Linneas was busy playing under some of the tables, looking for that something he had seen weeks ago.

It was early--far too early for Inle to be up and out of bed. Insomnia didn't seem to care, however, and its victim had gone on a walk to tire herself out. Perhaps if she did, she would be able to go home and sleep easier. A sign caught her eye; it was for a stationary store. Inle wondered if it was open, as she was in need of paper, pens, and cards. Cautiously, she pushed the door open and peeked inside. All seemed to be well; there was a woman sleeping in a chair, and a child playing under a table. Inle crept into the shop, wondering if they were open for business.

The soft tinkle of bells that hung from the doorframe did little to stir the red head from her sleep. In fact, it even made her snuggle more into the armchair.

Linneas perked up at the sound of the bells however and giggled from where he was. New big person! he thinks, Maybe... the Study called this one in too?

His golden eyes wandered to the Study and expectantly saw the door creak open. He gurlged and clapped his hands quietly in anticipation. Maybe the new Tale would have pretty wings like Angelus! Linny could only hope.

Inle cooed quietly down at the baby on the floor, waving down at him. She wondered if she should wake the woman in the chair, but the child seemed to be alright where he was. It wasn't like he could crawl out of the shop, either.

The creak of the door caught her attention, and she approached the open space cautiously, wondering if there were more items in there. She felt almost compelled to enter the Study, and gave into her urges, after making a shush sign down at Linneas. Inle's entry into the room would be their little secret.

Some secrets were meant to be revealed, but all in due time. At least, that was what the Study and the Tome believed. As Inle entered the Study, the door quickly but silently closed behind her. The audible click of the door locking was loud enough to cause the red head to awaken.

"Hm? Wha?" Huni mumbled, trying to rise from the chair but failing as she groggily settled back down. "Linny, is there anything wrong?" she asked with a yawn.

Even if Linneas wanted to tell his mother, she wouldn't have been able to understand his babbling. But he wasn't lying when he shook his head, there wasn't anything wrong with making a new friend after all.

Huni wasn't the only one whose attention was caught by the door locking. Inle's eyes widened at the sound, and she immediately turned back to the door, trying futilely to open it. "Uh ohhh," she murmured, looking for another exit. Hopefully, she wouldn't be caught by the woman in the chair; she didn't want to get in trouble.

Trouble had always been a relative thing for the Study and Tome. Nothing was troublesome for the pair, though whether or not they caused trouble was a different matter.

The Study had sufficiently spooked their latest potential-author, it was the Tome's turn. The pages began to rustle, as if caused by a draft.

The rustling of the pages caused Inle to freak out more than the inexplicable locking of the door did. The air was still in the room, and yet the pages still turned? This was turning out to be something one might find in a horror or thriller movie.

Inle loved horror movies.

She turned to the Tome on the table, her eyes quickly taking in its details. The pages were still rustling, and upon closer inspection, Inle found that all of the pages were blank.

Blank the pages had been, true, but gradually, as if in slow motion, letters began to appear. It took a good few seconds before the question was fully formed:

How far are you willing to go?

Inle stared at the page as the words formed upon it, feeling somewhat dumbfounded. Now it was REALLY starting to seem like she was in some kind of movie. She pondered the question for a moment before picking up a nearby pen. Her hand seemed to have a mind of its own as it wrote an answer beneath the question.

As far as the seas take me.

The sea, eh? The Study and Tome would have smiled at the response if it was possible. The walls had vanished, replaced by the endless expanse of the sea. The carpet had been changed into sand, sand and more sand. Perhaps the only thing left of the Study was the writing table.

The sound of steel clashing against steel rang through the air, underscored by the roar of the ocean waves. Behind Inle loomed a tidal wave, and at its very peak it paused as if time stopped at the precise moment. Without warning, the wave came crashing down.

But there was no water, no rushing of sea foam, no breaking of wood or anything of that sort. The Study appeared unharmed, unchanged, bone-dry and as dusty as it had always been. Only one thing disrupted the monotonous dark-color scheme.

A little figure that appeared to be perched upon the writing table. He was wrapped up in what appeared to be a pirate flag and had the most exquisite feathers growing from his entire body. He peered up at Inle with beautiful, sapphire eyes as a tome fell out from the flag.

The smell of salted water filled Inle's nostrils, adding to the scenery the Study provided her with. With a mix of bewilderment and awe, she turned to view her imaginary surroundings, and her eyes widened as she saw the tidal wave, now right in front of her. It crashed around her, battering her senses into submission, and her eyes closed. She felt oddly at peace, in spite of the chaos of steel and sea water around her.

When she opened her eyes, it was all gone. But it had been replaced by something much more incredible.

Inle's eyes widened as she took in the small, feathered figure on the table. The large eyes of the parrot boy stared back at her, a fiery defiance within them. As Inle reached a hand out towards him, he clutched the flag wrapped around him tighter. The feathers of his small wings ruffled as he allowed her to touch him.

Inle stared at him for a long while, almost not noticing the book beside him. She touched the tome, and the boy shuffled his clawed feet restlessly.

"Yawr," he said, his tone low.

"Yarr to you too, kiddo," Inle said with a smile. The boy shifted once more, seeming almost conflicted. Finally, he reached his feather-covered arms out to Inle, and wordlessly, she picked him up.

And so the tale begins...

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: "Captain" Tybalt Iridien
Birthdate: 2/20/05
Height: 5'7"
Weight: ~150 lbs.
Hair Color: Red, blue, and yellow
Eye Color: Blue
Build: Wiry, leanly muscled, a tad gangly

Favorite Color: Reds
Favorite Food: Fish, fruit
Likes: Treasure hunting, being in control, weaponry, ships, the sea, flying
Dislikes: Insubordination, being bossed around, enclosed spaces, magic, physical contact, ignorance--hell, pretty much everything not on his "Likes" list.

Abilities: Natural flight, slightly enhanced speed, reflexes

Tybalt's general complacency with the world at large has been replaced by the mounting frustration involved in piecing together his past. His trust in others has been compromised by paranoia, and even those he once held close are now subject to silent scrutiny. He's more inclined towards lashing out--verbally and physically--at those who stand in his way, and his sense of humor has taken a turn for the cruel.

Tybalt has learned to leash his often-violent temper a bit, although it's always lurking just below the surface. He's learned to deal with most things through methods other than physical violence, although he still prefers force to persuasion when it comes to getting what he wants. Tybalt is still domineering, and able to take control of the most stressful of situations with the air of a true Captain. He remains distrustful of others and is much better at hiding his true thoughts, keeping them locked behind a facade of laid-back cockiness. He abhors weakness in himself, percieved or otherwise, and often deals with accusations of such through violence, both physical and verbal. Although he won't hesitate to start a fight, he's not fond of being touched otherwise, especially on and around his wings--incidents in his infancy led him to believe that "they can't hurt you if they can't touch you."

His ego is huge, and is one of his weaknesses; one would find that he's easier to deal with through the use of compliments and other such positive manipulations. To those rare few that Tybalt deems trustworthy, he is a loyal, steadfast ally. He isn't well-versed in dealing with the emotions of others, and will often try to cover this ineptitude by getting them to laugh through it or ignoring it completely, causing him to come off as insensitive.

The trouble that Tybalt seemed to have speaking as a toddler has vanished, leaving behind a smooth, clear voice with a moderate English drawl. He will often integrate words and phrases of a time long past into his speech, a wholly unconscious act, making him sound a bit odd at times. He curses freely and is brutally honest; he won't hesitate to say what he thinks, regardless of who it might hurt. He's got a very different sense of humor, and he's always ready with some smart remark or witty comeback. In spite of this, he's got a kind of rough charm about him, although he probably wouldn't be so cute were he not a parrot.

Tybalt isn't very big on authority, rules, or limitations set by others; he, as "Captain," believes only in the rules he sets for himself. He will often do things he knows he's not supposed to not out of spite, but out of insatiable curiosity. He loves to explore, and enjoys being outdoors; very little bores him more than a day spent inside. He's a very active child, and now that he can fly, nothing is sacred. He will try and steal just about anything he can get his hands on, so his speed and agility are a blessing; he's also got excellent reflexes for a child his age, and his lean form and hollow bones enable him to be faster than many, although none of these traits are so enhanced as to be considered unnatural. However, he's not especially strong, and it's not uncommon for his bulky wings to get in the way of his activities.

Powers: None

Inle-roo, which means "little moon" or "little death" when translated into English, left the island of Naylte Flow, the place she was born and raised, at the age of 16. Her mother, completely human, had died when birthing her and her father, completely lapine, never let her forget it. She grew up an outcast, having none of the lapine features that everyone else on the tiny island possessed, and with a cursed name to boot. This made her self-reliant--as well as sarcastic, cynical, and more than a little bitter--at a very young age, and she left the island at 16 for the mainland. There she wandered broke and alone until she came across an old woman in a park who was taking pictures of ducks in a pond; curious, Inle approached her, and they got to talking. The woman eventually took her in and taught her the ins and outs of photography. Inle came to think of her as a mother figure, and her tragic and messy death only gave her a bleaker outlook on life.

Inle plied her trade until she had enough money to buy herself a home in a quiet area near Gambino. The voluntarily solitary Inle remained as such...until she started accidentally acquiring pets, and later children. She never asked for any of them--she comes to find them in the strangest of ways--but she's never turned any away, in spite of their growing number. She's not the world's best mother, having not been raised by one, but she gets along. Her style of parenting falls along the lines of "do what you want, just don't get caught."

Inle has a very straightforward view of life, the universe, and everything. She often comes off as rude or insensitive, a direct byproduct of her antisocial nature. She tends to see right through the acts others put on to garner sympathy or other such emotions, because she herself is largely apathetic and horrible at dealing with other people's emotions. Her biting humor and lack of people skills don't earn her many friends, but she cherishes--for her--the ones that are willing to look past her dysfunctional personality and put up with her anyway.

2/20/05 - RP Recap

Inle wandered into the shop, looking somewhat harried. In her arms were not one, but two infant Tales. One was swaddled in a brightly-colored blanket with a mop of orange hair, the other wrapped loosely in a black and white flag. The former, Olivia, kept making grabby hands at the latter, Tybalt, who was looking fairly pissed off about the whole situation. It had been like this all day, when Inle, in a fit of happiness, had left the shop and ran to Nyxa's, only to have the noisy Olivia thrust at her. She vividly remembered the elderly woman's plea for a reprieve and the slam of a door in her face as she was handed Olivia. The girl had immediately began trying to get at Tybalt's brightly colored plumage, and chaos had ensued from there.

Inle had brought the pair to the shop, in hopes that some of Olivia's friends would be there to take her attention off of Tybalt. She stopped dead at the sight of the roomful of people and their respective babies, looking at them somewhat blankly.

Huni emerged from the Study, carrying a wide-awake Linneas in her arms. She had been studying her Finance and managed to bore the Tale to sleep earlier. And now that he had finished with his nap, he wanted to play.

"Well, looks like it's a full house today." Huni chuckled to herself.

Linneas eyed the people in delight, he remembered Aido, and Paazi (he still hadn't learned the furry Tale's name was Khia) and at the sound of the door opening he saw Capn Tybo and... another Tale? He giggled and clapped his hands in delight.

Olivia was slightly irritated at the whole situation. All she wanted to do was touch and eat the pretty feathers of the other baby. With wide violet eyes the little orange-haired baby looked around the room, babbling softly to herself as she took note of the occupants. This served to sway her attention only momentarily from the bright feathers of the other baby in Inle's arms.

Tybalt merely cast a wary glance at the occupants of the room, clutching his beloved blanket tighter. Inle carefully set the pair of infants down and plopped herself in a nearby chair with an exhausted sigh. While Olivia babbled, Tybalt remained silent, and almost-scowl on his colorful features. His taloned feet clenched and unclenched on open air.

Khia whailed a little, shifting back from halo to beast, ears drooping, but his tail wagged a bit as if to say goodbye to the other Tale.

Syrie's previously poofed tail smoothed a little bit with Huni there...she had a calming effect, especially since he knew she would be taking care of the people now, and he could be antisocial again, and fade into the woodwork.

Lemonlime stood in the corner, a smile tugging on her lips. But, this was no time to smile. She had found Nalira, that was something to be happy of, but she had changed. She was no longer her bouncing, bubbling baby girl. No, not at all. Lemonlime paused for a moment, placing a finger upon the lip of her fidgeting baby girl, before moving from the shadows.

"Hello, everyone." Her voice was some-what husky, and sorrowful. She closed her eyes, placing the child on the ground, only to receive a hateful glare. She let out a little whine, moving back from Nalira, shaking her head.

- - - -

Nalira scowled, feeling herself fall to the ground with a soft thump. She simply sat there, her eyes in narrowed in a hateful glare. Her suit was some-what soiled, and her hair was hanging out in strangles. She tilted her head slightly, moving her hand to her arm which bore a strange marking - carved into her skin with a knife.

She looked to the ground, babbling softly to herself - but not in jibberish, no, it seemed to be a completely different language all together. She seemed to be repeating the same sentence over and over again.

" Alroita mier fahr ral rintah fir du. "

A little saddened that Aido had to go, Linny cheered himself up by squirming in Huni's embrace trying to get down where the other Tales were.

"Alright, alright, here you go." Huni chuckled, lowering Linneas to the floor before she herself plopped down onto one of the chairs. "I hate Finance." she remarked absently.

Linny crawled to Khia, "Paazi!" he gurgled, patting the furry Tale's head and scritching his ear. His golden eyes turned towards Tybalt and Olivia and he waved his broom plush in greeting.

Syrie's eyes caught the small fanged girl-child, and her strange antics. He moved closer to Lemonlime and murmured quietly. "What manner of speech is this?" The child's aura was tight, purply and red to the kitsune's eyes. Something was definitely wrong with her...

Khia meanwhile was looking over at the new Tales, chuffing and sniffing at them, shifting from ball to beast and back again in excitement. He purrs at Linny, the only one he knew.

Lemonlime bit her lip softly, looking over to Syrie. She looked over to Nalira momentarily, before returning her gaze to Syrie.

"I wish I knew.. She's been talking like this ever since I found her."

- - - -

Nalira looked up at the conversing Lemon and Syrie, before looking back in disgust. She placed her hands in front of her, flat on the ground, and started whispering dark words under her breath.

"Sira mir Lenor shi sah marind der frin."

Tybalt's scowl deepened as he regarded both the furry one and the unhappy girl, although he regarded the female with curiosity. The words she spoke, and the movements she made, seemed oddly familiar to him; he couldn't place it, only having been born earlier in the day, but they stirred something deep within him. With large, sapphire eyes narrowed in determination, he crawled his way awkwardly towards her.

Nalira turned her gaze over to him, tilting her head slightly. His colours were more then beautiful, they were almost hypnotizing, mesmerizing. She narrowed her eye slightly, moving her hand to the air and moving it down in a swirling motion.

"Mira sind ha?"

She asked curiously, her voice carrying a strange accent, allowing her to twist her tongue in unusual ways to pronounce hard to determine words. She may not have established English, but she was speaking this language almost fluently - as if she was born to speak it.

Huni quirked a brow at Syrie then smiled that he didn't retreat to his room. She did however notice the odd behavior that Nalira was displaying and wondered what could have happened. Her gaze ventured to the Study, maybe the Tome would clue her in later?

Linny's eyes widened at Khia's shifting, he found it so amazing that he couldn't help but giggle and squeal in delight.

Tybalt stopped in his tracks as the costumed girl turned to him. At her unknown words, the feathers of his wings ruffling irritably. The nerve of this girl, speaking in words he couldn't possibly understand! The unease within him grew, and he found himself responding. "Capn Tybo."

She smiled slightly. Has he understood her? Was this feathered Tale something of interest? She ran her fingers over the ground, in a wave-like motion. She closed her eyes, breathing softly, before looking up at him.

"Tybo, Fahr ral rintah dir du?"

Tybalt's head turned to look out the window as the girl before him spoke. What was she talking about? This wasn't anything like the bigperson who had brought him here had said, and yet...it was not wholly unfamiliar. His lips, still unused to speaking, crudely formed the words, "'Na go. Out. 'N Capn Tybo!" he said, placing an emphasis on his title.

Syrie didn't retreat, though he did move quietly to one of the large armchairs, pulling out his black notebook and scribbling in it quietly; he watched the guardians and the Tales thoughtfully as he did so.

Khia's ears perked at Nalira's strange words, and he wagged his tail at Linneas; making as though the two should move closer; he couldn't speak...but..he could sense things just like Syrie could.

'Not speak..make hard for Khia....' the little fuzzball thought to himself. His intelligence was high, it was just that his form wasn't made for talking at all...perhaps he could change this?

Nalira nodded slightly, tilting her head. She smiled, looking over to the little black-fuzzy type Tale, letting out a small squeak. She scratched her shoulder, before speaking once more.

"Ah.. Carpatin Tybo." Her eyes were still fused onto the fuzzy Tale, a strange smirk upon her face.

Khia's strange gem-like eyes fixed upon Nalira, and his tail swished a bit; the beast shifted slightly, the tissues and fibers making as though to change, though he actually didn't become anything. There was just an over all rippling of the Tale's body. "Auuu?" His head cocked at Nalira - mentally, he made yet another note that he must, MUST find a form that allowed him to speak.

The brightly feathered Tale held some interest for him as well, the scent being strange...though it didn't concern him really.

Syrie just stayed back, writing, sort of dazed...

Tybalt nodded, a thin smile flitting over his black lips. As Nalira's attention turned to the furry creature, Tybalt's own remained on her. Large eyes took in the girl's costume, and the way it didn't quite seem to fit with her more human features. He sat back on his haunches, claws clenched tightly to prevent them from poking his feathered butt. "Yuu dog?" he inquired.

Nalira tilted her head softly, nodding. "Yeu." She moved foward, smiling slightly and running an extended finger over his feathers. She shuddered slightly at the silky feathers, then clapping. Something intrigued her deeply about him, hypnotized her.

Mesmerized her.

What? This girl DARED to touch him without his consent? If his balance had been a little better, he might've brushed her hand away and scolded her for such insolence. As it stood, however, her hand retreated in a timely manner, and she seemed to appreciate his plumage. This mollified him a bit, and his thin smile returned. Carefully, he reached a hand out to pet her suit; if she could do it to him, there was certainly no reason he couldn't return the gesture.

2/23/05 - RP Recap

The door to the Stationary Shop opened with a tinkle, and Brenner slipped inside. She yawned widely, casting about for a place to set down her packages. Spotting a convenient table, she shuffled over quickly and set down a pile of books and a bag of... groceries? with a thump. Her last, most important package wriggled impatiently, snorting. With a weary smile, Brenner set the tightly bundled baby on the floor. She collapsed into a chair, looking around for company, as Ezra crawled around her legs happily.

Moments later, the door opened again, this time revealing a woman carrying a dark object with a brightly colored head. In reality, Tybalt was just wrapped in his flag; he hadn't let the damn thing go since he came from the book not a few days prior. His hat was perched precariously on his head, his large blue eyes peeking out from over Inle's shoulder. Inle sat him down near the other baby, and his clawed feet clenched and unclenched out of lack of anything better to do. Tybalt just kind of stared at the other baby, not having seen a creature like it before. As he pointed at Ezra and said, "Wha?" Inle sat down in a chair across from Brenner.

Brenner smiled faintly at Inle, waving. "Hey, haven't seen you in a while." Her eyes widened as she noticed the funny creature Inle was carrying. "Whoa. That's an... interesting looking little dude! Did you get him from here, too?"

Ezra looked up at the two strangers, curious. One was another big person, not very interesting... but there was someone like him, too! He was wearing some funny blanket and had funny big feet. Ezra slithered closer to the strange baby and settled down a short distance away. " 'ho!" he said cheerfully, waving at the new baby.

Inle nodded. "Apparently I can't leave the house anymore without acquiring a new child. I think I'm just gonna stay at home from now on and have some of the older kids run my errands for me, just to be safe. Pavel says hi, by the way. Is that a snake?" she rushed out, her thought patterns seeming more erratic than normal.

Tybalt continued staring, unconcerned about whether or not it was rude. Ezra confused him; where were his feet? "'Hoy," he said after a moment before pointing once more. "Wha?" he said again.

Brenner smiled at the mention of Pavel. "Say hi to them all for me." She yawned again and covered her mouth. "Sorry, long day. I have that problem with pets... I accumulate them."

Ezra made a face at the brightly colored baby, sticking his tongue out. "Ezzy," he said proudly, patting his chest. He pointed at the other baby, making an inquisitive noise.

Inle made a noise of what might've been assent or agreement, or a mix of the two; in any case, she was certainly in the same boat.

Tybalt blinked in nigh-astonishment. Did that...whatever it was just make a face at him?! He couldn't be sure, but in any case he certainly wasn't going to drop his guard around a relative stranger. "Capn Tybo," he replied, his tone borderline haughty.

Ezra waved at "Capn Tybo", sitting back on his tail. For some reason, he was getting the feeling that the strange baby was a little ... cold towards him. Hmmmf. Not quite sure what to do, he idly thumped the tip of his tail against the floor. Tybo's feet were fascinating... but he wasn't going to let the standoffish stranger see him get all distracted and silly. Ezra stared back at Tybo, sticking out his tongue once more.

How DID the other boy get around? Did it have something to do with his tail-and-no-legs? Ezzy didn't seem to mind not having legs...and why did that boy keep sticking his tongue out at him? Was it some strange form of communication? With sapphire eyes focused on Ezzy, he stuck his black tongue out as well.

Adrienne had promised Nyxa that she'd try to get Olivia into the Tall Tale shop, and it looked as if today was that day. Slipping inside, she held the babbling baby close to her, catching sight of Inle. "Inleee! I hoped you would be here. I promised Nyxa I'd bring Liv by here." She grinned and plopped Olivia down on the floor near the other babies.

Olivia instantly caught sight of Tybalt and Ezra, gleefully clapping her chubby hands together. Scooting closer on her bum, she instantly reached out grabby hands for Tybo's pretty feathers before her attention was grabbed by Ezra's tail. In a very ADD-like manner, Livvie instantly dove for Ezra's tail, cooing softly to it.

Brenner waved to the new arrivals, calling out a cheerful hello.

Ezra laughed when the strange boy stuck out his tongue. Maybe he would be a funny playmate after all. The appearance of yet more new people distracted him from his new acquaintance. He turned, just in time to squeak out a greeting before he and Tybo were attacked by Olivia. "Weeek!" he squealed, putting his hands over his eyes as she latched on to his tail.

He laughed? Ezzy...laughed at him?! Tybalt played his game and got LAUGHED at?! The pissed off parrot immediately withdrew his tongue and was about to give Mr. Legless a piece of his infantile mind when the ringing of the door bells caught his attention. His already large eyes widened further at the sight of just who was coming through the door, and he immediately began looking for something to defend himself with. His anxiety abated as Olivia's target changed, and he found himself somewhat appeased to see that Ezra was the target of the rainbow terror's attack. Tybalt allowed himself an uncharacteristic chuckle at the other boy's distress.

Inle merely quirked a brow as Dri walked in with Olivia. "Heeey, kiddo. I didn't know your mom was the proud mother of a book baby. We should form a club, or something. Like Operah, only not as dumb. How is your mom, anyway?"

Adrienne shrugged slightly, "She's on some island somewhere, it's cool. And yeah, she's got a book baby, too." Dri's voice lowered to whisper as she spoke, "But this one is a little.. ah.." She twirled a finger in circles near her temple, indicating that Olivia was a little nutty.

Olivia was in heaven. After grabbing a handful of Ezra-tail, she promply looped an arm around Tybalt's foot. "Liv'ya, haha." She spoke to Ezra's tail as if expecting a response before giving Tybalt's foot a stern glare, little eyebrows lowering in a baby-frown.

Though startled, Ezra thought he recognized the wild new baby. He didn't mind her playing with his tail, everyone seemed to want to do it. "Liv!" he said, patting her solemnly on the head. She seemed to be going for Tybo's foot now. Ezra frowned. He wanted to see Tybo's weird scaley feet himself, but he was getting the feeling that the other boy wasn't very friendly. "Oh!" he said sternly to Olivia, rolling his eyes at Tybo. There was no telling what the jumpy parrot might do if she annoyed him!

Tybalt's claws opened and closed, as if they yearned for something to latch onto. Olivia's arm was a bit out of range, though, as it was on top of his foot, so it appeared he was stuck with her for the moment. His wings folded themselves tightly to his back and Tybalt clenched his flag tighter as he looked down at Olivia, saying, "No feters!" in a commanding voice.

Olivia cooed softly at Ezra, rubbing her cheek sweetly against his tail. "Ezra, Liv'ya." She nodded before giggling wildly, turning her attention back to the brightly colored Tale she'd latched onto, blinking wild violet eyes up at him. "Fete, yes. Liv'ya fete," she pointed to her own, releasing Ezra's tail for a moment. "No fete," pointing at Ezra's tail. Finally she screeched at Tybalt's feet, eyes wide. "FETE."

Glaring suspiciously at Tybalt, Ezra swished the tip of his tail. Feet? He looked down at his tail thoughtfully. Even though he knew most people had feet, he had never really wondered why he himself didn't. Oh well, his tail was prettier than feet anyways.

"Fete no!" he called to Olivia, pointing at Tybalt's frighteningly sharp claws. He didn't trust the parrot, and those claws looked painful. Besides, Tybalt was weird. Ezra stuck his tongue out at the boy again.

Feet? Of COURSE he had feet! What kind of person didn't have feet, other than weirdos like Ezra and his sister Delphina? "No fete!" he said, pointing at Ezra's obvious lack thereof. "Haha, no fete." Tybalt returned the tongue-sticking-outage, opening and closing the claws of his unoccupied foot at Ezra.

Olivia didn't like the tone that Tybalt had taken on, and she released his foot as if disgusted by it. A thunderous expression contorted her small features as she shook a chubby hand in his face, standing up for her pal Ezra. "NO. Bad!" Crooning to Ezra, she patted his scaled shoulder, an endearing look on her face. Olivia scowled at Tybalt, promptly reaching out and yanking on his feathers.

"Wo!" Ezra exclaimed unhappily, startled by the sudden twist things had taken. He might not like Tybalt much, but he didn't want everyone to get in an argument over feet, of all things. He pulled at Olivia's elbow, hoping she would release Tybalt.

Tybalt's jaw dropped, more in shock and anger than in pain. That traitorous little wench! Pretending to be friendly and then immediately turning on him. Pah, this was why he didn't like other people. And hadn't he expressly told her NOT to touch his feathers? His blue eyes took on an icy tone as they narrowed at Olivia, and his arms flailed out, one managing to smack her right upside the head. "NO FETERS!" he screamed in a very angry tone. It might have escalated from there, but Inle moved quickly from her chair to the pile of babies on the floor. She managed to detach Olivia's hand from Tybalt's feathers with minimal damage before scooping him up.

"Say sorry!" she said to him.

"No!" he replied stubbornly, looking at her as if promising grave consequences if she dared to press the issue.

"You little..." she trailed off with a sigh. She needed to get out of there, so she could burst out laughing at her technicolor terror. "We're going home guys, sorry." With that, she settled Tybalt against her and walked to the door. Over Inle's shoulder, Tybalt stuck his tongue out at the group once more, and remained that way until they were through the door and out of sight.

Tybalt smirked in a satisfied manner to himself. If nothing else, those babies would learn NOT to mess with the dread Captain Tybalt.

Adrienne watched the goings on with a mix of humor and horror, gaping after Inle as she left with Tybalt. Slowly she turned to watch Olivia, stunned for a moment before picking the baby up and moving for the door. "Night, you two. I should probably get Liv home and make sure she's okay."

Olivia was slightly taken aback after being decked upside the head, lower lip wobbling as she fought tears. Before Dri scooped her up, she pressed a wet, sloppy kiss to Ezra's cheek, waving 'bye-bye' to him as she was carted away by the Kuatalmot girl.

Bewildered and upset, Ezra watched the two Tales and their companions leave. "Nyy!" he called after Olivia, waving. Brenner called goodbye to the two women and their charges and then scooped Ezra up onto her lap. "Mamaaah," he said sadly, not sure how to explain what had happened.

"It's okay, kid," Brenner said bracingly, hugging him. "I'm sure you guys will get to be friends." She glanced at her watch and sighed. "I guess we should be getting home ourselves, Ezra!" Brenner bundled Ezra up once more and carefully hefted him in one arm, her books and packages in the other. Ezra wrapped his arms around her neck and looked over her shoulder as they left the Store. Oh, well. It was nice to see Olivia again. He would find a way to make Brenner take him more often.

3/02/05 - PD with Olivia

Olivia knew what was going on, and she simply wasn't pleased. At ALL.

Adrienne had woken up and after speaking with Avis, wrangled the uncooperative Olivia from her bed, forced her into a godawful pink dress and carted her outside. Livvie had shrieked until Dri had allowed for her to bring the blanket she was never without, the small demon baby pacified for the moment.

Dri wandered up to Inle's home and knocked on the door loudly, a surprisingly quiet Liv clutched in her arms. "Now be nice this time, Livvie, or else I'll tell mommy that you've been a horrible baby."

Olivia merely shot Dri a horrid glance and her chubby fingers clenched as if she'd love to tangle them into Dri's curly pink hair and simply pull.

The door was opened not by Inle herself, but by Caduceus, the star-child's eyes narrowed. He sported a bruise on his cheek and a cut on his arm, both courtesy of the squirming Captain Tybalt. Deuce held the struggling baby as one might a football, and the feathered beastie looked none too happy about it. His claws clenched and unclenched behind him on open air. His wings were pinned down by Deuce's arm, but his arms were flailing. Tybalt's black lips were curled into a snarl, and his struggles doubled as he saw who was at the door.

Squeezing his bundle a bit tighter, Deuce peered at the pair on the opposite side of the threshold. "Can I help you?"

Adrienne peered at the youth, eyes widening slightly. Oooh boy, he was a cutie. "I'm here for a playdate with Tybalt. I know it's a little sudden, but I wanted Livvie to get out of the house and have an opportunity to play with another Tale for a while."

Olivia glared at the baby that Deuce had clasped in his arms, a nasty look in her eyes, which had darkened considerably. It would seem that Olivia was a grudge-holder, and a bad one at that. She suddenly snapped her teeth at the other baby, a slight snarl on her lips. She looked between Dri and Tybalt, unable to decide if she was caught between a rock and a hard place, because quite honestly, she couldn't stand Dri, either.

The babyish growl that ripped from Tybalt's throat was neither birdlike nor human, and Deuce blinked down in surprise at him. Feathered arms flailed outwards towards Olivia as if he meant to repeat the smack he gave her the other night, but she was too far away. With a noise of irritation, they dropped, and Tybalt contented himself with glaring at her. "No feters," he ground out in a tone that clearly meant a swift and painful retalitation for any who dared to disobey such an order.

Deuce's eyes rolled; he was well used to the Tale by now, but it didn't make the brat any easier to live with. The emerald wings at the side of his head drew closer to his temples as he stepped aside, opening the door wider. "Play. Right. Hope you brought a first-aid kit with you."

Adrienne blinked at the hostile feathered baby, stepping inside after tossing a slight smile to Deuce. "Ahh, no need. Olivia is sturdy, aren't you, kid." Looking around the home, Dri glanced over her shoulder at Deuce before waving a free hand. "Lead the way."

Olivia cringed slightly when Tybo lunged towards her, though she spat, "NO. FETE," at him, as if agreeing with his remark. Little chubby hands formed threatening fists as Olivia was carried by Dri into the house, and Liv's cheeks turned a frightful red. Her next babbled words were likey obscene, the smile she gave to Tybalt sickeningly sweet."

Tybalt stuck his tongue out at Olivia before Deuce turned with him, revealing sharp baby talons. The star-child carried the baby through the maze-like house, deftly avoiding wayward sprockets and underfoot pets. Occasionally he glanced back as if to make sure Dri and Liv were still behind him. Eventually, he wandered into what was obviously a playroom; it was cheerily colored, with toys strewn about the floor. It was unoccupied, for once, save for a little winged, catlike creature that was curled up on an overlarge teddy bear.

Deuce bent and placed Tybalt on the floor, where he immediately began to crawl away. To remedy this, Deuce merely plucked the pirate hat right off of Tybalt's head, causing the baby to blink as if struck. He looked up at Deuce with murder in his eyes, and the older boy merely chuckled and waved the hat in the air. "If you behave, you can have it back. If not, it's going to the sprockets for target practice, understand?"

Dri giggled at Deuce's antics, plopping Liv into the playroom, as well. "They didn't get along too well last time, I thought maybe we'd have better luck this time.. doesn't look that way right now, hm?"

Olivia was pissed. A slow-starting, keening cry rose from her throat, growing louder in volume until it was a nearly ear-splitting shriek. Her little cheeks grew even redder in a mix of rage and exertion, fists clenching as she forced that scream out for all it was worth. As soon as she had begun she was finished, ending with a quiet glare at the evil bird-like baby.

Deuce scratched the back of his neck in an almost sheepish gesture. "Yeah, he's...really not much of a people person." Tybalt looked almost proud at that statement, and his wings rose behind him, making him look bigger. He had settled himself onto his rump, clawed feet outstretched before him. He looked unimpressed at Olivia's scream, his arms crossed over his chest. Tybalt crossed his arms over his chest and matched her glare for glare, his sapphire eyes darkening.

Adrienne nodded, gesturing towards Olivia. "Yeah, she can be a real pain in the butt sometimes, too, I swear." Dri's eyes had widened at the little baby's scream, an almost horrified expression on her face.

Olivia huffed slightly, more than a little irritated. "Tybo no-nice." Nodding vehemently, Liv crossed her arms over her baby chest and eyed the toys that decorated the floor. Spotting a ball that caught her fancy, she eyed it longingly before deciding to finally move closer to it. Problem was, it was right near that dastardly baby.

Tybalt's glare darkened further at the insult. "Livya wench!" he retorted, proudly using the word that Eki had taught him not a day before. His talons closed eagerly as their desired victim approached, and he was about to give into the desire to scramble closer and knock the very horns from her head, but a stern glare from Deuce quashed that firmly. Well, if he couldn't actually harm her, he would certainly do his level best to intimidate her, and he set about doing just that, an evil smirk growing across his lips as his claws clicked together. Hang morals and not hitting girls, this traitorous brat deserved it.

Olivia was aghast, and it was obvious that she was running through her limited vocabulary in an attempt to come up with a horrible name to call Tybalt. There was a word that Avis said almost fondly when she was watching her soaps, and now Olivia parroted it back proudly. "Sheeting bass-urd." PWND. With a gleeful look and a low growl in Tybo's direction, follwed by an animalistic biting motion, Olivia moved towards the ball that caught her attention previously.

Dri was too busy staring at Deuce to notice that Olivia had just proclaimed Tybalt to be a cheating b*****d.

Tybalt's jaw dropped in shock at Olivia's bold proclamation. He was at a loss as far as insults went, but that hardly meant he had given up the fight! He picked up a nearby Nerf-like arrow and smacked the ball Olivia was intent upon away from her. Now it was HIS turn to look smug, and he did so wonderfully, brandishing the foam toy as one might a club. Sure it wasn't a sword, but it would do...for now.

Olivia growled at the other baby, her temper rising. "Dummy." She belly crawled over to the ball, promptly picking it up and chucking it right at Tybo's ugly head with a maniacal cackle. Dumb ball, she didn't want it now that Tybalt had tainted it with his cooties. Her next words were straight out of the mouth of Nyxa, usually spoken after Olivia had dirtied her diapers. The only difference was that Nyxa would speak them lovingly. Olivia spat them out, her tone acidic. "'tinky baby."

Tybalt used the arrow to bat the ball away, and he mocked her show of temper with a sadistic chuckle. "No fer yuu. Yuu ugly scabers dog!" Clearly, someone had been watching too much Pirates of the Caribbean. He seemed to enjoy getting under her skin, apparently moreso than pummeling her.

Deuce couldn't help but burst into laughter at the interaction between the two babies. Tybalt looked at him smugly before looking back at Olivia. "Haha at yuu."

Olivia shot a bonafide death-glare towards Deuce before her angry gaze turned back to Tybalt. Her tiny baby-nostrils flared in anger before she merely went expressionless and just stared vacantly at Tybo. Jaw went slack, eyes void as she just.. stared. And stared. And stared some more. No more name calling, no throwing toys. Just an uncomfortable silence and an inscrutiable stare.

Tybalt took joy in this, thinking the battle won. As Olivia stared at him, he pulled faces at her, all the while waving his mock-sword in the air proudly. He grew bored with the lack of reaction after awhile, and stared back at her. "Wut rong?" he asked, breaking the silence.

Olivia kept the same expression for a few moments after Tybo spoke, eyebrows lifting in question. "Tybo mean. Whyeeeee." She really was genuinely curious, but it didn't matter if he answered the question honestly or not. Livvie's fist itched to make intimate contact with any reachable part of his body, but she refrained. Unless, of course, he was going to continue being mean to her.

Tybalt's flailing stopped at the question, and he regarded Olivia with a serious gaze, a petulant look crossing his face. "I not meen. Yuu meen. 'N Ezzy meen firs."

Olivia shot him an evil look, shaking her head. "Fete." She shrugged, as if her request was so, so simple. That's all she'd wanted to do, she liked feet. His feet, in particular. "Ezzy fren, Tybo so meen. Meke Livya sad, ok, yes." And sad she was. She inched closer in an attempt to be congenial, though she knew he wasn't likely to let her get too close.

Tybalt shook his head as well, multi-colored strands of hair falling into his eyes. "Yuu sayed fete n hurted feters n das MEEN. I sayed no feters n yuu hurted feters n das MEEN TOO. Traders BAD," he said with a child's conviction, arms crossing over his chest once more. If he noticed her moving closer, he didn't show it, so intent was he on getting his point across.

Livvie scooted closer until she was pert near perched on his leg, though one fist was clenched and tucked away out of sight, ready to beat Tybo's face in if it was deemed necessary. "Nooo, Livya not hurt fete, ok." Olivia shook her head vehemently, brows lowered in an ominous scowl. "Livya NOT trader, Tybo mean, 'tinky baby."

"Yes yuu trader! Meen tradery scabers dog wench!" Tybalt's feathers ruffled irritably as the girl before him denied what was obviously the truth. He huffed, eyes narrowing at Olivia's proximity. He pondered her pseudo-request for a moment before unlenching his claws; he figured it was safe enough. If she dared to turn on him again, he would merely cut her arm up, and THEN she would learn, oh yes. "Yuu hurt feters n I smak yuu gain," he said.

Olivia guffawed, waving around a fisted chubby hand, "You hit Livya, gon' pull out fehthurs, watch." She narrowed her eyes at him, grunting. "Tybo nev' gon' meke no friens if he gon' be meen." Oh, she was busting out with her long sentences today, little Miss Olivia was. Chubby arms crossed over her chest, mimicking Tybalts posture as she glared lividly at him.

Tybalt snorted haughtily. "Tybo dun wanna be frens wiv tradery dummies an'way, 'n I dun care if yuu a girl, yuu be meen n I run yuu thru!" And he would, too. With his foam arrow-sword. Just you watch.

Olivia growled at him. "Lil wan-kur." Ahh, another one of the British Avis' words. Olivia used this one with relish, shaking her fist around aimlessly in front of Tybo's face. Hah. She wasn't afraid of him.

Tybalt dropped his sword in favor of smacking Olivia's fist away. His eyes regained that cold, hard look. "Shuddup. Yuu talk dumm." Her uppityness was beginning to irritate him.

Olivia tired of Tybalt, instead deciding to merely stick her tongue out at him and scoot away from him towards the door. On her way, she was muttering under her breath random grumpy phrases. "'tinky baby, dum fehthrs, sheeting bass-turd." A hearty scowl turned her features into a frightening sight, visible to Tybo when she turned to glance over her shoulder at him.

Thinking this game won yet again, he sat back, arms crossed over his puffed-up chest. The cocky grin he offered her scowling face was too cute to really be classified as rogueish. For once, he looked like nothing more than the adorable baby he really was, rather than the stern pirate captain that lurked within.

Adrienne picked up Olivia, suddenly jerked from her open admiration of Deuce. With a chuckle, she moved her head ruefully towards the exit. "We'd better go. They really don't like each other."

Olivia smiled smugly at Tybo over Dri's shoulder, lifting her chubby hand in a wave until she was sure nobody was watching. In a move she'd seen Avis (such a BAD influence that woman was) do to the television when someone on her soaps pissed her off, one chubby baby finger rose in a very obscene gesture. Olivia didn't know what it meant, really, but she'd learned from Avis that it was obviously done to people that pissed you off. So with a cackle, Olivia waved her chubby hand, that middle finger stuck up in the universal sign of 'piss off.'

And of course, Adrienne was oblivious, waving goodbye to Deuce and Tybalt as she carted the demon child out of the house.

Deuce couldn't help but snort in amusement. "I'm just glad she's leaving here with all her limbs intact. It was touch and go for a minute there." At Olivia's handwave, Tybalt stuck his tongue out, although he looked a bit confused at her gesture. Surprisingly enough, it was one he had never seen Inle make; she was a bit more verbal than that, although she had been careful to keep her swearing to a minimum around Tybalt. She didn't want him swearing like a...well, like the sailor he portrayed.

Tybalt turned towards Deuce as the pair walked out of the room. "Hat," he commanded. Grinning indulgently, he plonked the hat down on Tybalt's head, chuckling as the parrot baby's hands darted upwards to adjust it. "Up," Tybalt said, raising his arms towards Deuce, who picked him up. The baby was still smiling as he was carted away; he had succeeded in getting under the enemy's skin, he had gotten to try out some of his newfound vocabulary, and in his eyes, the day belonged to him. Ah, yes. Life was good.
