~Christopher: 50%~
------------------------
Using the remote to his video camera to start recording, Christopher began to perform his act to the song The Zookeeper's Boy by Mew. The video he was now filming was going to be his present to Minna in celebration of their engagement. The idea had been in Chris's mind for a couple weeks now but finally decided to act on it since she agreed to having children with him someday soon.
As Chris performed his routine, he allowed himself to just be submerged, losing all sense of the reality around him. As far as he knew, he was the only one there. The way he moved, behaved, and lipsynched to the lyrics was very spectical. At that moment, it was as if he really was the person who invented the song.
However, that was soon shattered when Chris opened his eyes and saw someone standing in front of him. He froze into place, like some kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar. His ears flattened to his head and his tail immediately went limp. Christopher let out a few nervous chuckles and just stood still. This is what he should have expected for shooting this video in the open, on the outskirts of the jungle.

Alex: 25%
Hey, it was just one of those days. He was just going about his business, deciding to spend some time outside, instead of couped up in the duplex, and maybe try and relax. Thats why he was walking along, trying to take his mind off of all the stuff that had been happening lately. It was a good idea, at least.
He'd walked along for a bit, not really going into the jungle, since the idea of going into a place where he could get hit with a multitude of tree limbs didn't sound like a good way to relax. And thats about when he spotted an islander... dancing? Or was it singing? He couldn't tell, although the moment only helped make him more curious, walking over towards him.
He didn't say anything, just stood there, as he watched the wolflike-person perform his routine. "It would be a shame to disturb him while he's in 'the zone' I guess.", he thought to himself.
It was only after Chris stopped, that Alex chuckled softly, clapping his hands together softly. The fact that the three outer fingers were merging together probably didn't help Alex's desire to clap too loudly. "That was really good...", he said to him, his eyes hidden behind his mirrored shades.

"Uhm... thanks," Christopher replied a little embarassed, quickly turning off his camcorder. "...It's a video I'm working on for my fiancee."
As if the humid day was not enough, an additional wave of heat overtook Chris's body from being caught in his act, causing him to perspirate a bit more. Soon he began to pant a little and took off his shirt, using it to wipe off his fur. Wandering over to the stream nearby, Chris took a few handfuls of water and splashed himself down in hopes of being cooled off.
He then turned his attention back to the stranger who now graced his company. Wanting to appear welcoming, Chris brought his ears away from hugging his head and allowed them to stand erect once more. He extended a leathery black palm to the man, a smile gracing his half formed muzzle, but then noticed this person's fingers were merged together. "Let me guess. Some bird of sorts, right?"
'Oh yeah, that's real sharp,' Christopher scolded himself internally. 'Not exactly the best way to make a good first impression.'
Sorry about that," Christopher apologized, his hand still extended. "Didn't mean to sound rude if I did. Anyway, I'm Christopher. And you might be?"

"Fiancee?", Alex thought to him, "Who would ever think of having a fiancee in a place like this, except for perhaps the folks at the labs but... still..." The ex-pilot was carrying his coat over his shoulder, as usual, since it wasn't like the place really got cold enough to warrant its use, but Alex wasn't one to leave it behind.
He chuckled a bit at Chris' comment, guessing the feathers in his hair were probably a dead give away that he was probably going to be some sort of avian individual. "Uh, yeah, probably. Unless those lab guys make people grow feathers for no reason..." He smirked a bit and reached out with his free hand to shake Chris' hand. "Not at all. I'm Alexander Barrett, ex-owner of Air-Asia Cargo. Its nice to meet you Christopher. Sorry to interrupt your peformance there."

After shaking Alex's hand, he shook his head and assured the birdman, "No, it's ok. I mean, it was bound to happen with my doing it out in the open like this, right?"
Chris chuckled a little when the man introduced himself. There was too much irony in the fact this guy use to own a piloting service and was becoming an avian creature. Christopher was tempted to burst out into laughter but surpressed it, snorting some from doing so. "...Well, that's a rather fitting animal they picked for you then."
Christopher chanted in his mind, 'Don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh...'
"So..." began Chris, trying his best to keep a straight face but failing. "...Do you want to go do something, get acquainted?"
Before Alex could give him an answer, Christopher started packing up his camera equipment to distract himself from breaking out into hysterics.

He shook the hand a bit, then smirked as he looked off into the distance some. "Well, this is a nice area. Not too much stuff going on around here. Pretty quiet overall. But I suppose with all the folks around, there was a decent chance someone might walk by."
Alex raised an eyebrow at Christopher's expressions but nodded some. "Yeah, I guess. Not that it provides me with a lot of comfort. I'm not sure what's worst... the fact they've got me stuck on this rock and are changing me into a bird, or the fact they've got me stuck on this rock away from my baby." That last word of his was said like he had family or something like that was being kept from him.
"Sure... I guess I've got time to kill. Although if you need to reshoot that thing you were doing, I understand. I mean, last thing I want to do is mess up your video." But since Chris seemed to be packing up, he guessed that his offer wasn't really needed. "Looks like they're turning you into some canine. Eh, thats not too bad, in the grand scheme of things, from what I've seen."

Christopher peered up at Alex while he was crouched to the ground during his pack up. He nodded in response, adding, "Yeah, not bad at all... Considering the wolf is my favorite animal and all. So, I don't mind too much but I am p*ssed at the circumstances this happened under."
Swinging the straps of the bags for his equipment onto his shoulders, Chris motioned for Alex to follow him. "I know how you feel though in a sense. It kills me knowing I won't ever see my parents again but that's life for you unforunately. At least I have myself a really great girlfriend and a little brother here so it's not all too bad in hindsight. Who's your baby anyhow? Girlfriend? Wife? Child? Pet?"
As they walked along, the two men would soon find themselves outside the cafeteria.

Alex nodded a bit to Chris as he talked, following him some. "Yeah, the scientist who did this to me is a right fine huen dahn." The way he said that last bit didn't sound like he was saying nice things about the person either.
"I'm suprised that you've got that many folks you know here on the island. Must be sort of lucky for you though, although, I guess in hind sight, maybe that isn't the sort of luck you'd wish on someone and their family." The question about his 'baby' sort of took him off guard, causing him to stumble a bit as he walked, before laughing. Not the normal reaction you might expect from someone who was being asked about their 'baby'.
"No no no! My 'baby' is a PBY Catalina. She's my airplane! Big World War 2 seaplane. They used her for sub patrols and anti-shipping back then. I was using her as a cargo plane. Really beautiful plane. I worked on her myself. Had to put her together after the last owner left her a huge mess..." He sighed softly, looking skyward as he walked. "You put that much time into something, you tend to think of it as a part of you, in a way. It was home, for me anyways."

"Yeah, I definitely would not wish this on anyone else," Christopher explained. "But it's better to band together and be there for each other rather than sulk. I think if I hadn't been there for my girlfriend Minna when I was, she would have gone crazy from what was happening. At least this way we can have a good life together since there is little chance of ever getting off this rock."
As they entered the cafeteria, Christopher went through the lunch line but turned his nose to the food and went straight for a bottle of Cherry Coke. He walked over to a table near the windows, so he could enjoy the scenery, and set his equipment bags down beside him as he sat. He twisted the cap off the bottle of his favorite cherry flavored beverage and took a long swig.
He then asked Alex, "May I see a picture of your baby if you have one?"

Alex nodded some more, as he walked into the cafeteria, grabbing a tray and started to go off towards the area with all the nicely cooked meat products. He gets himself some chicken, as well as some chinese fried rice and some noodles and eggrolls. And to drink, he gets himself a diet coke.
He walks over to the table as well, setting the tray down and tossing his coat onto the back of his chair. "Well it still isn't something I'd ask for. Rather suffer alone than to have some of my family hauled here as well." The pilot pours a bit of soy sauce over all the food and then starts to eat.
"So, whats your girlfriend becoming? Hopefully nothing too bad." He winces a bit, realizing he probably shouldn't have said that last part. But it wasn't like he wasn't familiar with how odd some of the changes folks could face on the island. It was just something he shouldn't have said. If anything, Chris probably would have understood what he meant by the question.
Luckily, fishing out some photos of his 'baby' was a good distraction from beating himself up over the question, pulling out a picture of the PBY, as it sat at the dock of the Manila office. "Thats here there...", he said, handing the photo over.

Christopher nearly sprayed Cherry Coke out of his nose when Alex made the assumption that Erik was blood related to him. He coughed a few times and set the bottle down, putting the cap back on. Chris went ahead and corrected Alex, "No, you're mistaken. Erik isn't my real little brother. I just call him that because he is like one to me. I wish he was though because he's a great kid, not to mention his family treated him like s**t."
Chris's eyes went wide when he saw the pilot with a tray filled with chinese food. "Hey! I didn't know they had chinese dishes here. When did they start that?"
When Alex asked him another question, he got back on topic and replied, "Oh! She's becoming a meerkat. And my little brother is becoming a Falkland Islands Fox, which are extinct. Makes me wonder how that b*****d Moreau managed to get the DNA from one."
Taking the picture from birdman with care, Christopher studied it for a good minute. It was really a beautiful sight to see. One could tell just how much Alex really cared about that plane. He handed back the photo and said, "That's incredible. You really fixed her up good. How long did you have her for? Hell, how did you manage to get a hold of one?"

Alex ate some of his food and shrugged a bit. "No clue. Its been here since I got here. Maybe they knew I was a big fan of the stuff. Used to eat it all the time over in Manila. And I see. Interesting family you have then." He smiled a bit and put some more soy sauce on his eggroll.
"How long? Oh, about 4 and a half years. Almost 5. Got her on sale while I was visiting my friend overseas. Couldn't leave with her. Needed 2 months of hard repairs, and so I paid a ton of money, got the bank to sign off on some stuff, and started up a business to use her for cargo runs. But the owner was selling her for dirt cheap. Too costly to repair. Luckily I could do most the repairs but it was still a hell of an overhaul. Its amazing what you can get overseas. I still don't know how her previous owner got ahold of her, but she really was bad off. She was a great joy to fly. Tempermental though. Fuel lines weren't so good. Or maybe it was jsut the bad fuel she got fed some days..." Last thing Alex wants to do is scare poor Chris with a lot of technical jargon so he's trying to keep it simple in his explaination of stuff.

Christopher listened attentively while he sipped on his Cherry Coke. Even though planes were not his area of expertice, he was fascinated with what Alex had to say. He even wanted to cry a little bit from Alex's fond recollections of his 'baby,' knowing that the birdman would never get to see it again. But then an idea hit him.
"Alex..." Christopher inquired, "Have you thought about asking Moreau or somebody in charge to bring the plane here? I mean, as long as they remove the engine to make sure you can't fly it, then I see no problem. I mean, yeah, you wouldn't be allowed to fly her again but at least you'd still have her around."
His stomach starting to growl, Christopher sighed and said, "Excuse me, now that I know they have some eastern cuisine, I'm going to indulge."
Christopher got up and walked back over to the cafeteria line, snatching up his Cherry Coke to take along with him. When he got to the Chinese food, he piled the plate with orange chicken, chow mein, and rice. He made sure to grab a pair of chopsticks before he returned to his seat.
"Ahhhhhhh, much better," Christopher commented contently, picking up his chopsticks and shoveling a piece of orange chicken into his mouth.

He took the photo back, and put it away in his wallet, placing that back in his jacket, before turning to eat some of the chicken, ripping the meat from the bone. And that was probably the worst he could have done as he almost bites through a piece of bone and coughs up some of the half chewed chicken.
"Bring..." He coughs a bit. "...my PBY here... " Another cough. "...and have them pull out the engines out?" He reachs for his coke and swallows a few gulps, washing his throat clean. "I may miss her, but it would be like I said, wanting a family member here. I'd never wish that on anyone. I'd be no better than the guy I bought the plane from." He gritted his teeth some, and shook his head.
"At least one of us is still out 'there'. That plane's got more sweat and tears keeping her flying... I wouldn't trade that in just so she could float out next to the beach..." The pilot lifted his mirrored shades from his brow, and rubbed his eyes a bit. Damn. Poor guy looks like he got a bit too emotional. "Sorry..."
It takes him a minute or two before he's smiling, although he also went and scarfed down the rest of his coke while he was getting himself feeling better. "So, yeah, enough of that talk... What brought you here?"

Christopher smacked his forehead and apologized, "I'm sorry. You're right. That would be a bad idea. I don't know what I was thinking. You'll have to forgive me."
Twirling some of the chow mein around his chopsticks, Christopher leaned in close as he inserted the noodles into his muzzle. He had to slurp a few of them to keep them from dropping out of his mouth. He continued to eat in silence, staring out the window from time to time. Chris felt embarassed for his suggestion and as such, did not want to risk saying anything stupid.
When Alex spoke up, Christopher let out a surprised, "Huh?" and mouthful of chewed up food slipped out. Biting on his lip a little, Christopher lowered his head and his ears to express his embarassment. "Sorry about that... Anyway, to answer your question, I'm a filmmaker and I was brought here under the impression I was meeting investors for a documentary on wolves. I kind of had my doubts it was legit but I was tempted no less. How about you?"
