Wally_West No likey Ron? Chances are good he's the beginning of an invasion... It's funny. But so soon after seeing the Scientology episode of South Park, it leads me to a more humourous line of thinking.

They backed off on that aspect out of fear of offending anyone.

I hardly consider that offending. There is no reason that they should be persuing an agenda of making fun of a religion on an entertainment-based website in the first place.

It's not a religion, it's a cult formed by a sci fi writer who was once planted into the OTO as a mole for the CIA. That is of course if we're talking about Scientology still.

Sorry Wally but it is offending. It offends me that a minority could cow this site into backing out. It offends that people have to walk on eggshells because "someone" might be offended and upset. It offends me that people think of that load of crap as a religion when its nothing but a cult which gained popularity by the celebs that endorse it. And if the parody of a wacky celeb and his wacky "religion" aren't entertaining I don't know what is. And this is an entertainment website as you said.

They didn't 'cow' to anything. There was no petition, no massive upheaval of offended people, no threads screaming about Gaia hating on Scientology. They just decided that it wasn't a direction they wanted to take with the character, and considering that the theme of Halloween is alien invasion and not 'let's mock scientology', I say good.
The point is to mock Tom Cruise as an individual, not every practicioner of the religion he happens to have. It doesn't matter if you agree with it or not.
