Okay, this concept has been keeping me confused for a while now. So to create an oversoul, you need a focus (like Horo's board), a spirit (like Kororo), and mana/furyoku. You insert the spirit into the focus and it creates an oversoul. So the oversoul can touch reality in real life, but does the other person need an oversoul for them to touch? In the Horo vs. Yoh preliminary fight, Horo cut Yoh, and Yoh began to bleed, that was when he first explained that the oversoul can interact with solid things. And in GN Volume #6, it was explained if a person (like Hao) had enough mana, they could create a perfect oversoul. But in the Ren vs. Yuan/En fight, when Ren disengaged his oversoul, En's oversoul went straight through him.
So my basic question is, for an oversoul to interact with a solid object, does that solid object need to have an oversoul too?

I thought (according to the dubs) that [Ren going through En] was an illusion En made. neutral

I don't believe it was an illusion actually...the entire form that En made was just one big oversoul...at least it was to my knowledge.

Heh, I'm just as confused as you are. I understand basic concepts on Oversouls, but I don't understand the whole....how do I say this....solid part of oversouls...Like how they are able to affect the living world and such.

They mentioned that it was because he faltered, but he seemed to be absolutely focused on hitting Ren....perhaps it's an emotional dispute? I myself am not quite sure, I'm going to try to re-read #4 to refresh my memory on the basic concept....

Something about if the soul falters, so does the oversoul... I see.... Okay, my question is answered. =3
