So, I've seen a handful of people strutting around town in their glamour armor. You know, the Opaline sets and whatnot.
Do you think it's right to spend your gil on things like these?
I've even met some players who prioritize this in front of more important things, like spells and PT armor. I've even seen someone PTing in Opaline. gonk
But personally, I'd love the Opaline set. Haha, but only if I had the spare money. ^^;

the ppl in those shnazzy outfits are usually bazaars trying to pimp themselves out to look good for customers...usually the ppl in higher lvl armor sell more and better things (this is my conclusion) i have seen the same mule dressed in like 80 different outfits w/ new things every 7 hours... (if any on asura know Oldtimer, you know who im talking about)

if you have +1 set some peices are good for bard. and for some jobs, at lower levels, there just isn't any good peice of gear to put in that slot, or not one with significant value (as a low level taru whm i wore my corsage instead of MP pin most of the time)

I have pretty gear...but it's all cheap, and I'm well geared in my jobs before I even consider buying that stuff. I play 2 female characters (female irl too but that's irrelevant XD ) and I love to make them look snazzy. :3

do you buy pretty clothes to make your gaia avatar look good?
if the answer is yes... then can't you understand why people in game do it? Lots of people have a set of gear that they wear in jeuno to look cool O.o; why not?
Not having decent pt gear is not acceptable tho ._.;

both my game character here and my game character/s on ffxi look shnazzy so meh...(even if some are nekkid) but thats beyond the point....point is...ppl do look shnazzy and we just have to except it -.- even if it makes us feel poor or anything else....another thing i wanted to ask (stupid question but i hear the phrase all the time in ffxi)
if soil is rich...how can you be dirt poor?

dirt and soil are diffrent?
anyway, if your spending 650k on a aketon but if your ANY job and not wearing ANY armour im gonna slap you, i hate when brd feal they dont need to buy leg armout or anything at all, and rangers without any armour besides a aketon, lol when they turn and get one shoted, if you have money to support both go ahead, but dont sacrfice your job to do so, i like looking nice, but im not gonna sacrfice 5mil on looking preety when i can get something thats endgame

they arent the same thing and if your a brd wearing the +1 version of opaline you got issues def sucks and w/ them being back up heal...they themselves can get "one shotted" chr is nice but i would rather have a brd w/ more def than the opaline + 1 can give

O.o; i've never had a brd take a hit in an exp pt, unless i'm dead or there's a link-who-refuses-to-be-slept. PS they can always switch gear if a mob glances in their direction anyway. and for when they're pulling of course.

Just wanted to comment on the Opaline gear.
I for one do not own the opaline gear. I own the Wedding dress (re/ex) which only cost me 50k when I got married blaugh

Think of it like this site for your avatar. Even though you don't have to save your money for something you need like spells and armor on this site, but you always like to spend the money you have to make your character look as pretty, awesome, or wicked as you could.
Sometimes the stuff like Opaline is given to the person by someone else, possibly a lover or whatever, and they may have a lot of gil to spare, so they wear it to remind them of that person, or they get it from a wedding too as the wedding dress.
It can also be for the purpose of bazaaring too, or just to look good while walking around Jeuno when people examine you. Just like Cursed gear that needs Abjuration, like Crimson gear and such. Some jobs don't really need it as much as others, but it makes your character look great when you're wearing it around. Then you can have players examine you and go: Wow!
