All of us can say we don't know much about Vincent, as he does not really say much.. But from what we can see, he is mysterious and silent, and does not show his emotions. He is so secretive.. He could be feeling really pained and all, but he won't tell anyone. He doesn't like letting people know his true thoughts and feelings. He keeps everything bottled up inside. He hardly talks, if only to Cid and maybe Tifa, at the very most. He doesn't seem to like human contact very much. But who can blame him, after Hojo and Lucrecia..
Vincent likes to observe, instead of speaking. He observes his surroundings, peoples actions and reactions and what a situation is like and all that. In this way, he is considered "wise". He thinks before he speaks and what he says usually is quite meaningful. He isn't rash and impulsive, he doesn't shout out what he's feeling and everything, but keeps it to himself. The silent observer. A person that would be quite valuable as a friend. You wouldn't want to be in his bad books, that's for sure. Silent, but more deadly.
He is extremely introverted, and hides his emotions. He doesn't laugh, he doesn't smile... He's like a block of stone. He always has a very solemn look on his face. You can't imagine him laughing. He used to be more relaxed, less serious, back then, but after the 30 years in the coffin... Well, yeah, I suppose you can't blame the man for being anti-social and quiet and all that. I think that he isn't really quiet and introverted and all that because he really wanted to be, but because he was really hurt by the actions of others and instead of letting out his frustrations, he leaves it inside of him. This builds up his inner anger and hate and causes him to become depressed? Well, not so much depressed.. More like he has this certain apathy and numbness to the world around him. He doesn't really care anymore...
However, I don't think he is really all that emotionless. It's just a mask he uses to cover up all his past hurts and everything. He was hurt badly in the past, and blames himself for other peopls mistakes. He has that "stony, emotionless" mask only because he is afraid that people will get a chance to hurt him again if he lets his emotions out.. He probably feels safe in his little shell, and feels that by letting out his emtions, he would be pening himself up to the world, placing him in a dangerous position. People will know him better, and that scares him. He'll rather be the mysterious one, the one that no one really knows about so they can't use anything against him.
He is quite hateful... He only joined the team to take revenge on Hojo. That was the main reason why he joined at first.. But I believe he also started to really "join the team". As in, I feel that as the game progressed, he didn't mind the group so much anymore.. He became a team member, and not just someone on the outside.. You know what i mean? As in, he wasn't a stranger anymore, but he was part of the team, fighting for their goals. He is also quite loyal to those he loves. For example, he loved Lucrecia so much, and when he saw her kissing Hojo, he did not get angry, but instead, wished her happiness. He did not even love anyone else after that. That is true love.
I'm sure he is really sweet and everything to people he loves and admires, and he is really somewhat of a gentleman. He treats people with respect and like grown adults, and not kids. He seems like the sort that would buy flowers for his date, bring them to a romantic candlelight dinner and just hang out together. A real gentleman, you know. He would open doors for you, pull out your chair. He just seems like the sort that would. A proper English gentleman.
He is somewhat mysterious, and doesn't reveal much about himself. But that's what also makes him a rather interesting character. I hope that in the later games (Like in Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus), he opens up more and reveals more about himself. (Although the trailers and information of Advent Children don't seem all that hopeful - Vincent has become somewhat a recluse - let's hope Dirge of Cerberus is better, eh? biggrin )
Despite all this, I think Vincent has a sense of humour! Alright, it's not a thought. His humour is a little dark, a little ironic. We can see some of this during Advent Children, where he asked where the phone shop was. It's sort of a joke, especially when you think of the situation they were in. If that makes sense. I think Tifa is perfect for Vincent because she is "Bright and optimistic, Tifa always cheers up the others when they're down. But don't let her looks fool you, she can decimate almost any enemy with her fists. She is one of the main members of AVALANCHE. She and Cloud were childhood friends, and although she has strong feelings for him, she would never admit it."
At the very beginning, I don't think Vincent liked her very much. In fact, he didn't like ANYONE, for that matter. However, as the game progressed, Vincent really warmed up to her. He started sharing his feelings ("...So glad you're alright, Tifa") and showed obvious care for her. He talked to her more than everyone else (maybe because she makes him feel comfortable?).
Tifa never 'looked down' on Vincent, and never called him names and stuff. Instead, she tried to get him to talk to her. They even got closer to each other when Cloud was gone, and they talked and all. Both of them have quite a lot of similarities. Both love, but are not loved in return, and both are quite uncomfortable at sharing their feelings, especially of love. I think Tifa, like Vincent, also hides behind a mask, except hers is a happy mask, while Vincent pretends to be cold and emotionless.
I quite like this pairing and I think they are really compatible. While Vincent is cold and depressing, Tifa is warm and cheerful. Isn't this always the case in dramas? I love this pairing very much, so much that I can't imagine another pairing, really. I can't bear the sight of Tifa and Cloud together... Neither do I like Aeris and Vincent and all those. If I ever do read fanfictions, it's ALWAYS Vincent and Tifa. It's actually a very good pairing and I don't think they'll drive each other mad at all.
Picture this. It is the end of the game and Cloud has left Tifa again to go look for Aeris for the gazillionth time. Tifa is sick and tired of this. She wants stability. She wants comfort. And she's not getting it from Cloud. She's sad and lonely after he leaves, hurt again for the 1738934th time by Cloud and she's depressed that he doesn't return her love. She meets Vincent, somehow, by chance and he's still the same, brooding over Lucrecia and they look at each other, and they just click. I mean, it's so perfect. She's sad, he's sad, they can comfort each other! It's so sweet. Plus, they look really good together. Go on, think about it. They do, don't they? You have to admit. Yes, I really love this pairing. biggrin VinTif all the way!

Uh... sorry, VinTif makes Yuffentine look better. Besides Tifa has a thing for Cloud (I think, there are hints in Game and AC). But everyone has thier opinion!

thank you for your opionion but must we all forget that cloud payed no attention to Tifa instead he was interested in Aeris would she leave cloud and go looking for someone who will actually pay attention to or face the fact that Cloud will always be distracted?

That's like saying Cloud and Aerith is an official couple, even though there aren't any OFFICIAL couples (except for Shera and Cid).
Cloud shows emotion to Tifa multiple times in the movie, and he never showed more fancy to either Aerith or Tifa.
And if Cloud ever liked Aerith, it was mostly because of Zack's memories.
He had a crush on Tifa before, which was the whole reason that he joined SOLDIER.
And I'm sure (no I'm not) it's Cloud who should be trying to leave Tifa.

All right a Vintif thread!! But what is all the <( l )>):=l (<( O )> in your title? I totally agree with you about everything except for the last part of your post. I’m first and foremost a Clotif fan but I’m also a secondary Vintif and Cloffie fan too. I can’t stand the sight of Aeris with Cloud. I conceder Cloud and Tifa an official couple which can be seen in AC because Tifa has a wolf head promise ring on her right ring finger and the fact that Cloud hasn’t spoken to Aeris in two years but when he finally sees her instead of saying “I love you. I wish I could have told you” ex he says “I want to be forgiven.” Doesn’t sound romantic to me. Anyway enough about that this is a Vintif thread after all. Vintif? That's probably one of my favorite fanon couples of all time. xd I only actually became a fan after reading some fanfics by the very talented thelittletree. I like how the two can work together, but my only really big qualm with this pairing is that most people keep turning Cloud into some sort of heartless butthead for their stories. Contrary to how he can be portrayed by fanon, he's never a real jerk intentionally to those around him. He can be a smart a**, but not in a mean way.
But I digress. I absolutely adore the pairing VincentxTifa, and it's nice to see more people interested in the pairing. biggrin

Using Aerith as a plot device in that respect is just lame, in my opinion, because it is so overdone, and because I happen to like her character. It's like they keep dragging her into something that she shouldn't even be bothered about anymore, like beating a dead horse to get it going. If Cloud IS going to love Aerith, he would definitely NOT act the way that many authors tend to portray him in the fanfics. He got some closure after Advent Children, of which you can interpret any way you wish, but that doesn't mean that he'll turn around anytime soon and treat Tifa like garbage. Seeing him paired up with Yuffie or another female would be nice, for a change, so long as what the author does to his personality isn't so terrible.
As for Tifa and Vincent, I just adore the couple, simply put. Would their relationship really work out? Who knows? But one thing I do know is this...
They look pretty darn adorable together, and would have some of the cutest babies. xd Then again, the thought of any of them having babies (the whole cast) is adorable.
Because I'm wierd like that, I guess.

I probably have the same views about this as I do Yuffentine...it's possible but y'know...it doesn't show that much evidence of the two liking each other from what I saw. 3nodding sweatdrop

A while back I RPed in a FF7 storyline where my Tifa ended up with Vincent and it worked really well. They are both inwardly sad people who have been neglected by those who were supposed to love them. But in their loneliness they find peace. *shrug*
