Kikahawia'Kikavu was out wandering around. The soft breeze that he had come to felt good against the heat of the sun that was reflected mainly on the spots on his body making it very uneven heating on his part not that he minded he enjoyed it very much, at least when it was colder out. Having not realized where he was going, or atleast where he was heading when he did look around he found himself in the southlands.
A yawn escaped his maw as he found a nice spot slightly out of sight, to lay down and curl up under. All the running he had done had left him tired and so he rested his head on his paws and drifted toward sleep.

Lela'Bahari had taken to wandering as of late. Without a sound, she'd slip from the watchful eyes of her mother and pack, usually wandering towards the watering hole. The young pup had picked up a very odd attraction to water, constantly wanting to romp and splash, getting her fur nice and wet. Long after her many siblings had tired, she'd remain - simply content in watching the ripple on the smooth, blue surface.
Today was one of those days. Lela had snuck off while her brothers and sisters played tag, started a lazy path towards the water hole. As all pups were, she became easily distracted along the way, chasing beetles and playing with the long blades of grass. However, she was still very quiet about it. She was hunting, nose to the ground, after a particularly large beetle when she entered a slightly less dense part of the southlands. Taking no notice of her surroundings, she followed the bug's trail, tail swaying cheerfully in the air when her small, wet nose abruptly came into contact with a tuft of tail fur. Her bright blue eyes widened and she froze. What was she supposed to do now?

Kika, oddly enough only shifted in his sleep one eye opening, focusing on the wild dog before drifting back into sleep. It took the cheetah a few minutes to realize what had caused his tail to get wet, well semi-wet. Leaping to his feet he crouched looking at the wild dog pup. Relaxing he let out a sigh of relief.
"It's just a kid, thank god...." His heart had been racing and was now slowing down. "Hi there little one, whats your name?" A smile crossed the maw of this white cheetah.

Lela had frozen as soon as her nose had touched the interesting tail, her eyes as round as the full moon. She held her breath, lungs fit to burst, until the strange animal leaped up. She let out a muted scream and tumbled backwards, paws flailing in the air as her tummy became exposed.
She whined as he came closer, oversized ears flattening to her skull. She didn't know what to do. Mother had never told her what to do in such a situation - especially with an animal she'd never seen before! But he seemed friendly...she thought.
She rolled to her paws, ears still flat, but her tail swishing in her normal good-natured manner. Her voice trembled just slighly. "L-L-Lela'Bahari, bu-bu-but everyone calls me L-Lela," she said in a rush. At the large cat's smile, her ears came up a bit, her head tilting to the side comicially. In her childish innocence, she had no concept of rude questions, so she blurted without a thought, "What are you?"

"Lela'Bahari? Thats a nice name" Kika replied thoughtfulluy instantly liking the name after he heard it. "The name is Kikahawia'Kikavu, but since its really long just call me Kika alright?" He asked her with a grin still on his face.
He didn't think her question was rude at all, not in the least bit especially since he had asked the same thing to other creatures before aswell. "Well, I'm not to sure what I am, or at least the what you are asking for but I'd have to say I'm a guy and I believe that I am a cheetah if you will."

Lela's reservations about the stranger slowly fell away in her childish fascination with him. She grinned, her tail thumping the ground rapidly. "Kika," she repeated slowly. She liked the shortened version. The young pup would never have gotten her tongue around his whole name. She'd never heard a name so long in her small life.
Kika was the first thing she'd seen different from her - besides the prey her pack brought down and grazing animals in the distance. But never up close. Her mother had warned her against certain other carnivores, but this kind was new to her. "Cheetah?" She asked, getting up on her white-tipped paws to circle around him slowly, staring unabashedly. She came to halt infront of him again. "You're very tall. And you've got long legs. I bet you can run fast, huh?" She grinned. "Mother says I'll be able to run fast when I'm older, but I don't think so. My legs are short." And as if to proove her statement, she lifted a single leg up in a "pointing" fashion. "Where do you come from Mister Kika?"

Kikahawia'Kikavu was quite pleased with how well the little wild dog said his name. "That was simply perfect, the way you said the shortened version of my name that is." The cheetah added that in right before he finished to make she knew what he was saying.
"Yessirrie, I'm a cheetah no doubt about it at all, nope none whatsoever" Kika told the little one, he had no doubt in his mind that he was not a cheetah. "You think I'm tall? Well thank you then." He paused after that before replying "In fact I can run quite fast, its good when hunting, however it cannot be for too long or I basically exhaust myself out."
Chuckling softly he told her "Nah, I think you'll grow and so will your legs and you will be quite the runner." After that he had to stop and think about her next question. "Where do I come from? Well I must admit I am not to sure where I come from although I do think I'm from the jungle, I remember lots and lots of trees, but other than that nothing."

Lela grinned at the praise, her tail swinging violently behind her. Surely if one had been standing within her general area, her tail would have given them a good box around the ears, leaving them ringing.
“I’ve never seen a cheetah before,” she said, making the slow circle around him again. The tiny pup was absolutely fascinated by this new creature. “You’re very different from a lion.” Sitting her rump on the ground, she tilted her head in a questioning manner. “I can’t run very long either. Mother says its because my lungs aren’t big enough yet. I hope they get bigger though. I want to hunt like Mother and the others when I’m older.”
Her wide blue eyes rounded in wonder. “The jungle?” she whispered. “I’ve heard about it, but I’ve never been there before. Isn’t it an awfully dangerous place to come from, Mr. Kika?” Her gaze turned to the wide Southlands that stretched for miles around them. “I was born not very far from here in a big den. I have lots of brothers and sisters. Do you have any brother and sisters Mr. Kika?”
Such an inquisitive pup.

"This is the first time I have seen a young wild dog, it is most interesting to see one, especially one with just bright colors" Kika replied to her saying she had never seen a cheetah before, it was the truth after all it was his first time seeing a wild dog pup, the only ones he had seen before were adults. "I would think so, yes we are both in the feline family but we are built completely different, although there are some similarities there."
"When you grow up you'll be able to run just as fast if not faster than your mother, all good things take time, trust me." The cheetah then paused for a moment "I went through the same thing you did."
"Yes indeed, the jungle, it's a nice place as long as you don't make any of the snakes there mad."A soft chuckle followed that when she called him Mr.Kika. "It can be a dangerous place if you aren't careful, but I haven't run into any trouble while I was there." He finished up with the subject of the jungle.
"Brothers or sisters? Well I don't remember any nor have I seen any but then again I was by myself for sometime so I don't think I have siblings but then maybe somewhere out there unknown to me I have a sibling." Kikahawia'Kikavu told the young pup before asking "Is it nice to grow up in a big family?"

The small pup smiled at him toothily, her young canines still pearly white, as they'd yet to age to the point of being stained yellow. "My whole family is bright. I don't know about my daddy though...We don't talk about him," she added quietly, ears flattening to her skull for a second. It was true that the poor creature had never laid eyes on her father - in fact, she wasn't quite sure who her father was, or if he truly even existed.
She listened to his words attentively, her brow wrinkling as it tried to process words that were still too difficult for her tiny brain. She sparked at the question, however. "It's nice having lots of brothers and sisters. It means there's always someone to play with," she said, tilting her head. "But I like being alone sometimes and having them around makes that hard." She grinned good-naturedly. "They tell me I'm weird because I go off on my own so much."
Settling down on the ground, she twitched an ear as a bug buzzed around it. Her eyes fell away, gazing over the various flatlands that made up the Southlands. She turned her attention back to Kika. "So if you're from the jungle, what're you doing all the way out here?"

"I'm sorry to hear that," Kika replied before adding "Atleast you have others around you to keep you company, you may not speak of your father but maybe one day you will come across him." Kika couldn't remember his parents, he had left them so long ago, but it didn't bother him not in the least bit. After all some times you had to leave home in order to miss it. Besides Kika'hawia'Kikavu presumed them dead and it didn't bother him too much.
"Having someone to play with is always a good thing, unless they cheat." Kika then wrinkled his nose as he thought of cheaters. "Being alone is also a good thing, it gives you space to think to relax and not worry if someone is watching you. Causing you to feel pressured...." The tan colored cheetah trailed off slightly before cheering up with a big smile.
He opened his mouth to reply then shut it thinking his answer over carefully. "Well I want to see more of the world, meet more interesting creatures than those in the jungle." He paused there thinking over his next words before saying "I have a wandering soul, it's just natural for me to wander, maybe I'll stop later but for now I'm happy."

Lela's tail swished back and forth on the ground, dirtying the white tip quite thoroughly. Her gaze had turned back to the plains of the Southlands - the hills that rose and fell so gracefully. Interesting creatures here? That surely wasn't possible! She raised a brow at the cheetah, though her tone was almost apologetic. "I don't think you'll find anything interesting here, Mr. Kika. All there is is grass and things that will charge at you if you get to close." Lela shuddered. She'd never forget the time she'd snuck too close to a large antelope, only to have the thing charge at her because of her small size.
The pup paused in her speech a moment, looking at her paws as if she was nervous. "Mother tells me that my name means 'night ocean'. She says it's because my fur looks like the ocean at night." She paused again, turning her big blue eyes up to the tall feline. "In your wanderings, Mr. Kika...have you ever been to the ocean?" The pup was always nervous to ask about the thing she was named after, scared almost that she would never live up to it. It was her greatest desire to one day travel to wherever this ocean was and see it for herself, not just in bedtime stories.

A chuckle escaped his maw as he looked at the pup infront of him. "I believe that I have already met an interesting creature here in the south lands." Kika meant Lela, but didn't say anything since he was sure she could figure it out herself. Then the cheetah spoke once more "Grass can be interesting, the grass here for example is different than the grass in the jungle."
"Night ocean? That is a pretty meaning for a pretty wild dog such as yourself." It was a habbit of the males, to compliment the females that he met often even if he did not mean to. "My journey has not taken me to the ocean but I do wish to see it some day soon." A pause followed his words as he thought about things. "I do heard that is is beautiful, perhaps one day after I go to the ocean I could come back and tell you all about it?"
"Then maybe you would like to go and see it yourself, or find someone that will either take you or travel with you until you see it." His green eyes studied that of the the others before looking down at the grass.

If canines could blush, Lela would be burnt scarlet. When around her siblings, it was never her that received any compliments - mainly her sister, Cascata. She'd always liked her name, as well. It was different from the rest of her family's. For one thing, it was the longest; secondly, it was the only one to have an apostrophe stuck in there. "Thank you," she mumbled quietly, bashfully looking down at her white-dipped paws.
She giggled, however, when he mentioned grass. Lifting her head up again, the crinkled her brow in consternation. "Grass? How is grass any different? Isn't it just...grass?" The concept of different colored grass or different lengths was beyond her small mind for the time being. In her mind, everything looked like the Southlands. Even the creatures were all the same.
Lela nodded quickly, her ears flopping comically. "If you go before I grow up, then you could come back and tell me stories!" She yipped happily, stamping her paws on the ground in glee. Yet her outburst was soon replaced by her normal, almost lazy-like persona. "I don't know if I'll ever see it myself. Mother says I have to grow up first, and even then I might have too many responsibilities to my pack to leave. But growing up seems to far away..." She stared out to the plains before them. "How long did it take you to grow up, Mr . Kika?"

"I only speak the truth." Kika replied to Lela when she told him thank you. When he looked back on things he could not remember a time when he had not spoken the truth, there had to be a time when he had told a lie but could not think of one as far as he could remember.
"Well the grass here is a different color than the grass in the jungle for one, but yes grass is grass that much is true but it is different after all most wild dogs are different from each other, ocassionally you will come across one that looks the same as another but they aren't completely the same," A pause followed that for the intake of a breath. "I suppose you could say the same thing for grass even if it is a little different." The cheetah hoped that his explaination wasn't too complicated.
"Even if you are grown up I will come tell you tales of the sea, I promise you that." He then nodded his black manish hair going every where before settling once again upon his neck. "I'm sure you will be able to leave for a little bit, as long as you promise to return and keep that promise." He paused thinking about everything he had told her. "How long? Well it went by quite quickly for myself, I didn't get to enjoy my childhood too much so you should live it to the fullest, growing up is important but being a child while you still are is just as important."
