Gavin had been generally sulky recently. First he found out that he had some awesome shiny, pointy things in his possession, only to have Mommy take them away because they were 'dangerous.' Whatever that meant. He should be allowed to play with sharp pointy things. Knights did all the time! Why couldn't he?
But even worse...Mommy had shown him his ninja suit. His ninja suit! And she refused to let him play with it. The nerve! Needless to say, that had elicited his first massive temper tantrum, sending Remi into desperate acts of letting someone else deal with him for the day.
And hoping that Haki would make him feel better.
Which she did. He was with her. In a bookstore. Marc disappeared somewhere. Oh well, this place seemed interesting enough. He looked at Haki somewhat tiredly, nearly exhausted from thinking too much about being angry.
"What we do here?"

Haki petted Gavin with habit. Or out of habit, whichever way you preferred to hear it. Tugging at the end of his sleeve and dragging him promptly towards the children picture book section, she smirked.
Her, not have any idea of what they were going to do next? Silly.
"We going to hunt for dragons!" she said. Except, more garbled. Toddler speech included of course.
Dragons. She was the princess, and he was the hero! And she knew, knew that back there in the deep and dark, there was a dragon (picture book) waiting for her. And maybe proper dresses for a princess to wear.

Gavin blinked as he was unceremoniously dragged across the bookstore. Dragons? This was something he'd yet to be introduced to. Mommy had just started getting him picture books, but they usually contained something along the lines of cats, dogs, or bats. None of this dragon business.
"What dragins?"
Oh, he had so much to learn in so little time. That, and Remi needed to start exposing him to the wonders of fantasy.

"Dragons BIG!" she stated. Children section. She knew it was when the books grew bigger and thinner and prettier, and when the shelves seemed to shrink a little bit. "And scary." she added. She turned her head and beamed. "Gavin will protect me from dragons?"
Of course he would. He had no choice in THAT matter.
"And pretty." she added. Usually with green scales that reminded her of the shiny stones she had seen sometimes in pictures. And with red eyes. And FIRE! "AND FIRE!" she added, straight off her mind and high pitched too.
She had so much fun when someone her size was around. And so, she got excited.

Gavin mentally paused to process a mental image of 'dragon.' Big, scary, pretty, and fire. Hmmm...
"Okay!" he agreed, though he was picturing a giant, pretty fireball. If she had said 'lizard,' it would have might have made sense. At least then he would have had a somewhat correct idea of its general anatomy. Right now, however, he just wanted to learn more about Haki's dragons.
"Where we hunt for dragons?" He'd noticed the slight change in scenery. Not only did the books look prettier here, but everything was more colorful. Osha would love this place. Gavin made a mental note to tell him.

Haki paused. Well. Okay. She hadn't thought THAT far. It was supposed to jump out here somewhere so that she could practice her pretty fainting act-- it was imperative for any future leader to know how to faint pretty! So she blinked.
Huh.
Reaching out and pulling on one of the books, she beamed. Look, dragon! On the cover, was a green, scaled creature breathing fire with it's tail twined around a princess.
Good thing the princess was blonde.
"DRAAAAAGON~~" Haki cooed, petting the cover with a look of intense adoration. "Gavin, dragon!" she repeated, dragging his hand over to pet the dragon too.
Petting was good. Really.
"Pretty." she said, nodding her head. Turning green eyes to the hawk boy, she cooed. "Haki want dragon."
It was something she had taken to saying to everyone. No one was left untouched in her quest for dragon/princess glory!

Gavin stared at the book cover. Dragon? He was focusing more on the knight in the far left corner in the background, almost not visible behind the damsel in dragony distress. Was that a sword? Oh wait--dragon, focus.
"Dragon?" he asked curiously, reaching out to pet the book cover too. It felt...hard, like a book cover. Okay, so dragons felt like books. Gotcha.
"Haki want dragon?" he perked up. He looked down at the book cover. Those things sure looked big. Where the heck would he find one? "Then I want dragon too."
Because whatever Haki wanted was what everyone wanted, right?

Haki beamed. OOOH~ This one was so smart and perfect. Clinging to Gavin in her pink fluff, she petted his hair, and his wings. "Gavin so smaart~ Gavin my hero!" she cooed, and stopped, for emphasis.
"Hero get princess a dragon?" she said, her eyes wide and... well, Haki-ish. Cooing and petting and beaming as if Gavin was the strongest ninja hawkman alive, she nodded her head.
"Pretty hero. Pretty dragon."

Gavin was overwhelmed by the sudden onslaught of Haki-praise. He was being petted, praised, and generally loved on. This was a good sign. The more she continued, the more he wanted to get this dragon. Then she'd do this again. Getting pet was definitely a good incentive for doing 'simple' things like finding a dragon.
As he smiled at Haki with a nod that said he'd do anything for her (if anything, Haki was a bad influence on him), he felt a familiar feeling welling up inside him. Though he didn't notice it himself, the pale pink glow from the night before returned.
CRACK!
A noise snapped loud enough to make someone knock over a display in the next aisle. Gavin had fallen to the floor, eyes closed but still breathing. Somewhere near Haki's feet was...
A very tiny dragon plush toy?

The noise had the girl let out a startled screech that was hardly dignified or princess like-- in fact, it was quite embarressing. What was that?? It took a while to discover that she was sitting down, blinking and wondering what had caused the sudden explosion. And what had that pretty pink light been too?
Wow what was...
...
Ooooh.
Blinking, Haki leaned over and poked the tiny dragon plush toy. Ooh, and what was this? Nudging the tiny little wings and the little eyes, she suppressed a giggle.
For a second.
Giggling, she picked it up and scrambled over to Gavin. "GAVIN LOOOOOK~!" she squealed.

Unlike the first time, Gavin was still conscious. However, he was really wishing he wasn't. He was lying on the floor, looking as if he was sleeping. His head was spinning and hurting like someone just hit him with a large blunt object. His body just wanted to stay there on the floor. Maybe sleep...
Except that Haki ran over squealing. He brought his hands to his ears.
"TOO LOUD!" he cried, obviously distressed and still trying to recover from what just happened. Geez, didn't people know to be quiet when a guy was trying to keep away from a concussion?

Haki blinked. Why was Gavin acting like that...? Putting two and two together. (Big bang + bird = scared bird) she paused, and nodded her head. But look! The god of all that was Haki and Haki had decided to send her a little gift!
Holding it out in front of Gavin (hmm. Maybe Gavin + Big bang = plushie? .... Naaaaaah.), she beamed. Look. Fluffy. Soft. And it had little wings too~~
Suppressing the giggling, she petted Gavin's arm gently. "Baby." she whispered.
Wait.
Gavin + Haki = baby dragon.
They were parents!

Was she calling him a baby?! Oh, wait. Still lying there on the floor (the world hadn't stopped spinning enough for him to attempt standing up), he warily opened one eye to see what Haki was holding. Or rather, what the three Haki's were holding that just wouldn't stop moving.
He blinked his eyes again until he finally narrowed it down to two Hakis. That was slightly better.
"Baby?" he asked, looking at the dragon plushie. It was no bigger than either of their hands, but it was definitely a dragon. He reached out to touch it, except that he didn't know which one to reach out for considering the double vision was insisting on screwing up his coordination.

What was Gavin reaching for? Blinking at the movement, Haki moved to place the baby plushie into Gavin's hand. Maybe it would grow bigger, and bigger! Whatever the case, Haki's maternal play pretend instinct kicked in with full force.
"Gavin is daddy. Haki is mommy." she said concisely. "Baby is baby!" She would have to come up with a name for baby. Princess froo froo seemed a bit of a mouthful for something so small.
"See?" she beamed. "Gavin Haki baby!"
Oooh, Haki was so proud.

It took a few tries, but finally he was able to grasp onto the plushie thanks to Haki's kind gesture of placing it in his hand. Strange. It didn't feel like a book cover. Did he do it right?
"Gavin Haki baby," he mimicked, still too disoriented to come up with his own speech. Apparently both Remi and Marc were now grandparents.
"Baby name?" he asked, less coherent then usual. The world was slowly starting to make sense again, so his sentence structure would gradually improve. However it didn't seem like he was getting off the floor anytime soon.
