I just finished reading Excel Saga Vol. 12 and I think it hints that perhaps Il Palazzo is Shiouji's father. I have many reasons for thinking that Tenmangu Shiouji IS Lord Il Palazzo:

1. At the end of Vol. 12, Kabapu says of Shiouji's father "He could be anywhere in the world... He could even be nearby." And on the next 2 pages are pictures of Il palazzo in his HQ. Coincidence? I think not.

2. Lord Il Palazzo's past is shrouded in mystery, as is Tenmangu Shiouji's. So it could be that Tenmangu disappeared as the father of the professor, but has reappeared as Il Palazzo.

3. Also, when Tenmangu disappeared he was a renowned scientist. I feel that Il Palazzo may also be some sort of scientist as he is clearly intellectually superior to his subordinates.

By the way, Tenmangu Shiouji is the name of Professor Gojyou Shiouji's father, just in case you didn't know.

Um... maybe you should have put "Possible Spoiler Alert" at the top? I have read vol 12 as well but we shouldn't ruin it for those who haven't.

I can't wait till the next volume comes out. I think Miwa (Shoji's mother) appears in the next one.
