Character Profile

Name: Ryann Moore
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Hometown: A small town near the coast of Newfoundland, Canada
Birthday: August 13th
Occupation: Student, part-time dock worker
Talents: Drawing, storywriting, overall computer skills
Fears: Losing her friends and family, heights, being trapped in a cave.
Likes: Quiet, her teddy bear, sunshowers, other people (most of the time)
Dislikes: Loud sounds, the cold, large groups of people, overly hot days.

Appearance
Height: About six feet tall
Weight: A little on the chubby side.
Hair: Very short, naturally red hair. The color is best described as a dark ginger.
Eyes: Greyish blue color, always seem to be half closed.
Face: Very rounded, covered in freckles. The freckles multiply in the sun, almost covering the area around her eyes and nose.
Tends to wear: Loose clothing, nothing too thick. Because of this, she never looks very formal, and seems very relaxed. Always wears a pair of glasses, as she is near-sighted. The glasses have a silvery blue frame, with lenses that darken in the sun. Also carries around a keychain with a pewter dragon on it, her good luck charm.

Might add more.

History

Ryann's mother died soon after birth, leaving her, her father and two older siblings, this is why she feels very close to her family as she never knew her mother. The only item she has from her mother is her dragon keychain. When she was a really young child, four or five, her father took the whole family to some caves. Ryann thought she got lost, as it was so dark she could not see her family and got very scared by it, and the noises the bats were making, and the loud echoes of the waves didn't help. However she was never actually lost and although it is an irrational fear, she has disliked caves since. Her father remarried when Ryann was about eight, and the two got together fairly well. She got picked on at school because of her height and hair colour (it happens, sadly.) so she moved schools when she was twelve. This school was out of her home town so she had quite a distance to travel every day alone, as her other siblings were attending other schools. She took on computer studying at school/college, although for a long time she did not have a computer at home. The family got their first one when she was fourteen. Life went reasonably well until, at the age of fifteen, she went on a trip with some of her friends to the Grand Canyon. When on this trip, a close friend of hers committed suicide there, leading to Ryann's fear of heights. Ryann also began studying marine biology around the age of fourteen.

How Ryann gets to the island: She will likely be invited to study the unique marine wildlife.

Stuff taken: MP3 player with songs
DS and games (Pokemon emerald, animal crossing wild world, and pokemon mystery dungeon)
Teddy bear
sketchpad and pencil
waterproof video camera

Reason for choosing Sea Snake: Ryann studies marine creatures, and has always found them intriguing. She doesn't like reptiles, however.

About Sea Snakes

Sea snakes of several different species belong to a group related to the cobras but are aquatic rather than land dwelling. They are only moderately large, rarely exceeding 2 m in length, often with peculiarly small heads for their body-size. The body is compressed as an adaptation for swimming and the snakes are so thoroughly aquatic that they are either clumsy or helpless when brought ashore. Nevertheless, similar to whales and other cetaceans, their lungs still require them to surface occasionally to breathe. Oxygen uptake through the skin has been demonstrated in sea snakes.

About Sea Snake Venom

Sea snakes have short hollow fangs near the front of the upper jaw, and the poison acts on the nervous system like the related cobra's. Unlike land snakes, however, sea snakes are not inclined to bite, and as such are not harmful unless abused. Sea Snake venom is generally more toxic and dangerous than venom from land snakes. However, Sea snakes have a less efficient venom injection apparatus as compared to land snakes, vipers or cobras.

All 50 or so species of sea snakes are venomous, and some are known to have venom ten times as strong as rattlesnake venom, making them among the most potentially venomous of all snakes. Fortunately for divers, they are usually quite docile. A sea snake's paddle-shaped tail is useful for swimming, but otherwise these reptiles look very much like their land cousins, even down to the forked tongue they use during their searches.

Hey there! So far, with the amount of info you've posted, the character seems pretty well-rounded and normal (if a bit on the self-conscious side) which I think is great.

Also, I like the seasnake idea, you have any pics of it you'd want to put up?
