Name: Abhaya Origin: Indian meaning 'fearless' Age: 9 Eyes: yellow Hair Color: black Likes: plant leaves, milkweed, eating, relaxing, telling stories, hearing them. Dislikes: Loud and frightening noises, being afraid, bullies, rude people.
Personality: Like most children her age Abhaya has a thirst for life and it's pervalent in the way she talks and carries herself. She is always wanting to know more, experience more. She is also very friendly and while she isn't as outgoing as some of her children counterparts, she doesn't shy away from hearing a good story or two. In fact, Abhaya LOVES stories, poems, rythmes, and just about anything of the sort. To get her to calm down all one really has to do is begin with 'Once upon a time...'
And you've already made a friend. Abhaya is also keen to making up her own stories as well. Of course the big drawback of this is that sometimes she gets caught between knowing the difference between fantasy and reality. Or she'll speak in rythmes just for the fun of it all. So when this happens sometimes Abhaya finds herself getting into trouble.

Monarchs are foul-tasting and poisonous due to the presence of cardenolides in their bodies, which the caterpillars ingest as they feed on milkweed. Both forms advertise their unpalatability with bright colors and areas of high contrast on the skin or wings. This phenomenon is known as aposematism.
First Stepping Stone: You feel weak. Your body feels very numb as if you've been in cold a while. But you don't feel cold so that doesn't seem right. Just the feeling. Like you've got lead wrapped tightly around your ankles and there's a dullness attacthed when you can't lift up quickly as you once could. What could this be?
Second Stepping Stone: You can't get up. Why can't you get up? You try to stand, try to will your limbs to move, but...you just can't. Something's horribly wrong here. Not only that but you have a fever, you don't need to themometer to know, you can feel it. It's like your whole body's on fire with how hot you feel. You're heart's beating fast as well, so fast that at any moment you fear it might burst out of your chest.
Third Stepping Stone: You can hardly breath. There's an invisible weight on your chest and with every breath you TRY to take it's only like the weight is crushing you more. You're eyes feel clouded, glossy, and you couldn't even focus even if you tried. Which you are. You body rocks in a spasm, which you cannot control. Then again....and again. Then finally once more...for the last time. This time your eyes roll into the back of your head and you're not even seeing the back of your eyelids now as your brains been warped into a vegatative state. With shock and horror you're too far gone to even know...
You're in a coma.

The Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is a well-known North American butterfly. Since the 19th century, it is also found in Australia and New Zealand where it is also known as the Wanderer Butterfly. In Europe it is resident in the Canary Islands (except Lanzarote) and Madeira, and is found as a migrant in the Azores, Portugal and Spain. Its wings feature an easily recognisable orange and black pattern, with a wingspan of 8.5-12.5 cm. The females have darker veins on their wings, and the males have a spot in the center of each hindwing from which pheromones are released.
The life cycle of a Monarch includes a change of form called complete metamorphosis. The Monarch goes through four radically different stages:
The eggs are laid by the females during spring and summer breeding months.
The eggs hatch, revealing worm-like larva, the caterpillars. The caterpillars consume their egg cases, then feed on milkweed, and sequester substances called cardenolides, related to the cardiac glycoside digitalis. During the caterpillar stage, Monarchs store energy in the form of fat and nutrients to carry them through the non-feeding pupa stage. In the pupa or chrysalis stage, the caterpillar spins a silk pad on a twig, leaf, etc. and hangs from this pad by its last pair of prolegs. It hangs upside down in the shape of a 'J', and then molts, leaving itself encased in an articulated green exoskeleton. At this point, hormonal changes occur, leading to the development of a butterfly.
The mature butterfly emerges after about two weeks.

Abhaya's room is eloquently done, but is still very modest in itself. She likes very feminine colors and enjoys many things that children would. But of course, she has her stories. For her that is a MUST. Though she unfortunately cannot have too many, so most of her shelf is cluttered with stories she's written herself. In a very childlike manner of course.
