A deep purr worked it's way from Korou's larger chest as the cheetah slept, draped over his mate in such a way that it was almost embarassing. His tail flicked softly in his sleep and he twitched from time to time.
He was more comfortable when he was with Chopi, for some reason it made him feel safe. Though he never really understood why when HE should be the one protecting her.
Letting a yawn work its way from his muzzle and Korou picked up his head, his eyes open but.... nothing.
What?
Blinking a few times and rubbing his eyes, Korou opened up his eyes again and stared straight forward in confusion, not seeing a thing.
"Wha... what!?" Korou cried in confusion, scrambling up and falling onto his side.

Swampiestar Chopi began to purr as well. Her chest rising and falling with even breathing. Tail curling against his leg, she nuzzled into him. She hadn't slept so well in so long and the body draped over her was aiding her. Their age difference mattered none for they were in love and nothing would stop it. What she felt for the young male was nothing that she’d felt before.
Being with him, even in slumber, was magnificent. A smile curled on her maw as a paw twitched in an imaginary run. A soft growl came to her until his weight lifted from her.
Red eyes opened slowly and a yawn split her muzzle. "Korou?"

He heard Chopi's voice in his ears, a lot louder than he'd ever heard it before. But there he was, sprawled on his back in the most undignified manner that could have ever existed. He couldn't see Chopi, but he at least could feel his own embarasment spreading over his dark cheeks in the form of a horrid blush that tinted his dark fur even darker.
What was going on?
Normally he could rub his eyes and bring his sight back when he heard the pop.
Well at least bring it back in one eye. There was no hope for his left eye any longer. But now... now it seemed that there was no hope for his right eye either.
"Chop...i?" He called out in a shaky voice. He stood up slowly and started to walk towards where he'd heard her voice last, but something caught in his way.
His paw smacked into something and he landed on his chest in a sprawl with his butt in the air and his front legs flat against the ground.

Swampiestar Chopi jumped up. Something was definately wrong. The female watched in horror as her mate struggled on his back. She was instantly at his side, nuzzling against him and trying desperately to right him.
"What's wrong Korou?" Her voice was horror stricken and panicked. Her mate was in trouble and if she couldn't help then...she tried her best not think about it.
"Oh Korou. Please be alright."

"I... I don't..." Korou blinked a bit but still he couldn't see. Making a face the male shoved himself to his feet and his tail rested on the ground. He was confused, he was hurt, he was.... blind.
Completely.
It wasn't as if it were half and half anymore. It was all gone now. There was no hope for him.
"I... I can't see." He managed to squeak out at last.
He couldn't see his mate, the only thing he wanted to see in the entire world, and he was cursed to be blind at her side. Never able to see how beautiful she was any longer.
Tears slowly worked their way down his dark muzzle and he hung his head.
"I'm sorry...." He said in a soft voice as his tears slowly started drop down to the ground, leaving small dark marks that he couldn't see.

Swampiestar Chopi watched him and tried to help him to his feet. When he finally was able to stand she backed away afraid that she would knock him over. She would have never expected what would come next.
"Oh..." Her voice seemed to fail her at his words. A twinge went through her heart as she starred at the ground. Korou wouldn't play a trick on her would he. Tears streaked the already natural tearmarks.
"Are you sure?"
It was a stupid question even in her mind but maybe there was still something he could still see. Maybe shadows or light. She knew how much this would hurt him. Being half blind was enough for her beloved but going completely blind was an arrow through her own heart.

"Y-yeah... I'm pretty sure." Korou said as he let a forced laugh slip from his muzzle. He tried to shake it off, he'd been having crappy vision for the longest time but... this was a little drastic. Maybe he could get used to it... maybe he could... do something, do something that would get it back.
"I just...." He cut himself off as a sob worked from him and his chest jerked slightly.
It was bad enough when he couldn't see out of his left eye and had to twist to see who was talking to him.
But... but... he couldn't see Chopi, he couldn't see the only person he loved.
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." Korou said, putting both of his front paws over his face.

Swampiestar Chopi couldn't stop the tears the sprang from her eyes. Atleast he wouldn't see her crying. She tried to sniff them back as she got closer to him, tail limp and dragging. The golden femme gently nuzzled against his neck. His smell was comforting even in such a horrid time. Her body shook with sobs as she tried to keep herself quiet.
"Don't worry Korou. I'll always be by your side blind or not."
The words were much more of a comfort to her rather than to the male. It lessened the pull on her heart and lightened her tears.
"It's not your fault Korou. You can't blame yourself." Her stomach twisted in knots and she burried further into his neck.

"But.. If I were able to see..." Korou started in a quiet voice. He was heartbroken. He'd gotten a few months to get used to seeing her, a few weeks to see her every day and then suddenly the gods stole his vision. He was cursed to never lay sight on her glowing beauty ever again, his goddess was gone from his sight. Despite being able to feel her, to touch her, he wanted to see his mate.
That was probably too much to ask though. If it hadn't been then he wouldn't be blind.
"I just... you deserve better than to be stuck with someone that can't even see how beautiful you are." Korou said in a tiny voice as he reached out with a shaky paw in an attempt to find touch her.
He could feel her agianst his neck and as much as he could he purred. It always made her feel better he'd seen.
At least in the past.
"I'm just so sorry. You don't deserve this." Korou said at last, his head hanging as he thought of all the pain she would go through thanks to him.

Swampiestar Chopi purred heavily as she nuzzled her mate. It was a wonderful moment despite the horrible things that were going on. The gods had taken his vision for a reason. They would both have to deal with his blindness. She knew that she would never leave the dark male. Never. Her tail flicked as more tears stained her muzzle.
"I don't care about your sight Korou." She truely loved him.
"You're the only one I want. You'll always be the on I want." She sat beside him trying to quell the extra strain on her limbs. "After what we did, we could be stuck together for life anyway..." A soft but leveled laugh came from her and she nuzzled into him again.
"We just have to learn to live this way."

Turning his blind eyes in her direction, or at least in the direction of her voice, Korou bent his neck and nuzzled into her neck softly. He didn't want to do this to her, he didn't want to stress her or do anything to hurt her. His lack of vision might stress her, Korou didn't want that.
"If I have to learn to live with this, I promise I'll figure it out as soon as I can, so it doesn't stress you so." Korou said, looping an arm over his mate's golden shoulders with a deep sigh.
It hurt so much to think that this would cause her pain, something that was done to him, something that he couldn't stop.

Swampiestar Chopi smiled and returned his nuzzle. It was such a small gesture but it meant positively the world to her. In her mind it meant that everything would be alright and that Korou would be able to grasp his condition. Sometimes even the darkest night still has a few stars. Her brother had told her that shortly after her birth. It was certainly true now. Maybe things would start to come together.
"It isn't stress for me at all my love." She leant against him and closed her eyes. "I still love you anyway." Her tail slowly entwined with his as her heart and thoughts lightened.

Nipping at her ear gently when he found it, Korou purred deep in his chest and started to cry again. It wasn't every day that he cried, in fact the cheetah had thought he was done crying, thought that after Faraqui died they were all dried up.
Apparently he was wrong.
"I love you too, Chopi. And I will for the rest of my life and beyond." Korou said at last. He'd never felt this before, but at least he knew that he never would again. She was the only one that he would ever love.
