So it's going to be about thirteen people and basically the play I'm running this year as a song at the end and once in the middle where the whole cast sings.
Yes. And seeing as I'm basically the most musically talented person in the drama department (I play guitar, piano, drums, and [[durrr]] sing.) I basically get to correograph and direct this song... while I play guitar. There's going to be sychronized dancing and everything... I'll keep you up to date on this as it progresses ^_^
yay @ teaching others how to sing. Wait till I spring the mah may mee moh moo warm up on them twisted

Yeah, and it's sweetcore. I cant wait for the stomp dancing XD
Yay, pirate music. I remember hearing a couple other school choirs singing pirate style songs, and sailor songs... (What do you do with a drunken sailor = TEH BEST)... and... yeah... I think they sound so cool. But there's no music, so I'm basically teaching them to sing by my pitch only, because I'm not talented enough to learn all the parts on piano.

Homans, that rocks. I am seriously green with envy right now. I've always wanted to do something like that! (I'm only a soph in high school, so I've got time, I'll probably do some asst. directing at the community theatre at some point) but I would LOVE to be in your shoes! You should keep a little mini-blog or something whee just for that, or just post random stuff in here with thoughts and what happened. Keep us posted, definately!

I will for sure. This whole thing dosen't kick off until next month, but as soon as it does, I'm dragging them to the music room so that I can start beating warm-ups into their skulls, and teaching them about vowels and harmonizing and tone, and all that good stuff!
I'm considering learning the parts on piano, even though that will take FOREVER. I can't wait for this, I'm like... giddy with excitement! Thirteen people singing the song... under my direction... OMG this is making me all hyper with joy xd xd

Oooh, yes. Learning the parts on the piano would probably be a good idea, or having someone who can play it close at hand.
And as it should. whee

That is if you know how to do it anyway. It's really fun to watch people who don't know how try to do... xd

hah, that's just sadistic XDDD
Well, i've looked over the song, and I'm learning the piano for the vocals... and good news! It's all in a concert C scale! So no sharps or flats (which I was REALLY worried about)... it's all smooth sailing.
Right now I'm hand writing out a score so I can get it ready for next month. There's solo parts, then the actual group part (which is mostly unison, so YAY, not too much for me to write out) and then I know the guitar, learning the drums and the flute.
Then I need to find a coreograph for the dance. Now I actually feel sorry for choir directors ._.
I dunno how they do this every day.
