Standard Attire: Satika will never be seen outside the house in pants. She wears long, flowing skirts in a variety of colours, and they usually reach her ankles. She favors silks and satins over more plain fabrics, and patterns over solids. Her tops have long, wide sleeves that almost hide her small hands, and are usually cut low enough to show off a fair amount of cleavage.
Personality: Satika reacts very differently depending on who she is around. Around men, she is polite, passive, and sub-serviant. She rarely voices opinions of her own, but usually knows the 'nice' thing to say.
Around women, Satika is much more relaxed. Still very polite, she will actually say what's on her mind, and share her ideas about a situation.
Around children, she's surprisingly permissive. She seems to enjoy watching them enjoy themselves, and respects there ability to think for themselves. She's affectionate, but not particularly protective, expecting matters to work themselves out, more often then not.
((Note: Much of this is likely to change as Satika adjusts to life on Gaia.))
Background In her youth Satika was a rebel. Though born to a high class family she could not settle into the life planned for her. Unhappy with the weak position of women in her homeland, she became a member of a resistance organization working for gender equality and peace. They didn't get far. The government was quick to react, and some of the leaders of the movement simply disappeared.
This did much to kill Satika's fire. Giving in to what she saw as inevitable, she found herself in the position of second wife to a wealthy widowed and at least reasonably young man, who had made his money designing weapons for the war effort. It was in this marriage that she discovered that she was barren. Unable to escape the role of women in her world, she also couldn't fufill it. She died a little more, and fell completely into what roles she could fill. The perfect wife. Graceful, soft spoken, sweet and entertaining. If there was still defiance in her, it never showed.
The war grew worse. The entire planet shuddered with it. When the fissures opened, and hope was lost, she did as all her people did. She took her chance. She passed through a fissure with her mother, and found herself on Gaia with a small community of her own people. Her husband, who was away at the time, never arrived. She had no choice but to assume that he'd taken a different fissure, and ended up on a different world.
And thus, life began anew. Here was all the opportunity she'd dreamed of in her youth. And yet... she missed her home. She missed the desert. And the fire that had burned in her so long ago was nearly forgotten.
