Species: Psionic Vampire
Abilities:
Aura sense- Ako can sense the life energy of living creatures, and get a vague picture of their emotions from it. He can sense people he can't see, though there is a limit to how far he can sense (about 20-25 feet at the moment). This ability is always "on" a little bit, but if he concentrates he can focus on a specific aura or two and get a clearer picture of them.
Energy drain- Ako can "drain" part of another person's aura, and thus their life energy. This ability is tricky for him to control, as he can't always choose how much energy he takes. Also, if he's extremely exhausted or hungry, he will unconsciously siphon tiny bits of energy from everyone within range. He has to be fairly close (about ten feet) to anyone he wants to drain.
For Ako, energy draining feels really good- it's almost an addiction. And emotionally charged energy (especially with pain or fear) "tastes" better. Because he's just screwed up that way. <3
Victims of an energy-drain will feel fatigue or a headache that gets worse depending on how much energy they loose. Crystals, and to a lesser extent, a mentally visualized "shield", can prevent energy loss.
Improved senses- Slightly better-then-average hearing and night vision. Nothing to write home about, really.
Music- He's pretty darn good at the piano- not due to any innate talent, just because he practices all the time.
Weaknesses:
Photosensitivity- Ako's eyes and skin are very sensitive to light. He burns easily, and bright lights give him horrible headaches. Needless to say, he doesn't like being out in bright daylight. Being stuck someplace bright can put him in a really bad mood.
Touch sensitivity- He really, really doesn't like being touched by other people. This might have something to do with his past, but he hasn't figured it out yet. Either way, this is going to lead to some serious personal space issues.
Sadism- Likes killing/torturing/harming things waaaay too much. He's fairly ashamed of this part of his personality, and tries to hide it from other people- but it's there. Angst ensues.
Personality: Generally quiet, prefers to observe before making a move. Can be snappy when he's tired or angry, but tries not to make a habit of being rude. Tends to be shy when faced with loud, in-your-face people. Always keeps a close watch on his own actions, as not to reveal his creepy evil side. [more coming as he gets rp'd]
Appearance: Creepy lil' emo kid woot! Pale skin, red eyes, and scruffy black hair with blue streaks. Usually wears dark clothes, often too big for him. Has a black tattoo on his left arm, but doesn't usually let people see it.
Hobbies: Practicing piano allll the time (and annoying everyone else in the process), reading,
Likes: Music (classical, progressive rock, metal), darkness, rain, blood n' gore (not like he'll admit it)
Dislikes: Crowds, being surprised, being touched, bright lights, cheesy pop music, his own dark side

Species: Human
Personality: Very smart, bookwise. Dumb as a post, streetwise. Likes order, logic, and gets confused when she can't find either of them. A total perfectionist, except for when it concerns her extremely messy room. Has a soft spot for all animals (but only a few people).
Diacyn's brought her out of her antisocial shell a little bit, but she's still a total nerd.
Appearance: Shaggy brown hair, a sharp nose, and pale features. Often mistaken for a dude. Always wears a black knit hat, and likes things with math equations written on them. Never seen without some kind of textbook.
Hobbies: Studying like a maniac, reading science books, trying to conduct random experiments on things or people and simutaneouly annoying the crap out of them, sleeping, yelling at Diacyn, and beating up her frequently broken laptop.
Likes: Science, math, books, computers, animals, sci-fi, kung-fu movies, caffine in any form, pie.
Dislikes: Crowds, loud noises, interruptions, bad grades, romance, idiots.
History:Taylor came to the city from a town that was shockingly normal, and she found herself thrust into a world of multispecies wierdness. She put up with it in order to study biology at the college, where she managed to win a scholarship due to her performance in high school (she graduated two years early) and performance on all the standard tests. She has always been excellent at every kind of standardized test but tends to fail miserably in the highly unstandardized realm of real life, where her social awkwardness renders her inept. In general she finds she gets along better with animals then people. She devotes almost all her time to her studies and is determined to make every little thing perfect.
Taylor doesn't get along well with her family (they think she should try for a decent job, like flipping burgers), except for her brother Liam... but she hasn't seen him for years. She didn't have a lot of friends, so she was pretty much a loner until Diacyn showed up. Then things just went crazy-nuts.

Diacyn
Snarky, aggressive, ninja-wannabee owl-winged Guardian of Death. FEAR. He was Taylor's first "child," who started off as an owl and Taylor's science project... now he's a maniac teen.
He REALLY likes Ako's wand because he's always wanted a sword. We'll just have to see what he thinks of Ako himself.
Todd
Perpetually angry British Fables kid. Likes knives. Likes threatening people with said knives. Also incredibly rude to everyone in a ten-foot radius. Don't mind him.
Karl
Alien baby from the staaaars. Or something. Cute lil' ICRS kid who Taylor adores and everyone else tolerates.
Liam
Taylor's brother. He'll be important later.
   
Fibbonacci, Mandelbrot, Julia, and Snowcone
Taylor's "normal" pets, a fox and two cats. Fibbonacci's as hyper as a two-year-old on Pixy Stix, and Mandlebrot and Julia mostly sleep in the most annoying place possible, and annoy Diacyn by not being edible. Snowcone is Diacyn's rat, and he knows a lot of tricks (like eating Diacyn's homework and playing dead)

Psionic Vampires
-Feed on life force, not blood.
-Feed via contact with chakras.
-Victims experience exhaustion, headaches, nightmares, etc...
At least people don't usually die from this crap. Right?
Vampire benefits:
-Sense auras and energy
-Better senses
-Night vision
-Warp time and space?!? (Read more on this!)
Vampire drawbacks:
-Need energy to survive
-Tend to avoid mirrors (reflections make them uncomfortable? What? Read more about this too.)
-Burn easily in sunlight
-Bright light hurts eyes
Behavior
-May feed unconciously when in desperate need of energy.
-Some people don't even know they're psionic vampires? How would this be possible when you're sensing people's auras? Maybe different levels of ability?
-May find a symbiotic partner to willingly give energy.
-May prefer emotionally charged energy.

Faolan: Decided to turn Ako's wand into a snack, thanks to Todd's incredibly logical idea of GIVING A BABY A POINTY WAND. WTF. Erm... yeah. We'll just have to wait and see if Ako remembers any of this.

Rouge: Definetely one of Taylor's closer friends. Took Taylor to an intergalactic spa after the events of the Metaplot, and simultaneously helped her relax AND blew her mind.

Taylor and Friends live in a smallish, second-story apartment: white walls, blue carpet, paper-thin walls, you know. The place is a total mess, with Taylor's books, assorted items of clothing, empty soda cans, ramen cups, takeout containers, newspapers, and just about everything else scattered everywhere. Obviously nobody gives a s**t about keeping things clean.
Taylor's room is more like a library with a place for sleeping. It's ankle-deep in books and various school projects. She's also got a fishtank, and most of the cats sleep in here.
Diacyn and Todd share a room. Diacyn's side is fairly clean, just because he doesn't have much stuff. He's got a pile of blankets for a nest/bed, and a bookshelf with ninja stars (real and origami), kung-fu movies, and the skeletons of multiple small animals. Todd's side is fairly dangerous to enter, because he hordes sharp pointy objects like a magpie. The window is always open, at Diacyn's insistence.
Karl and soon-to-be Ako share a different room. Karl's side looks like a bag of Skittles exploded thanks to his paintings covering the walls, and the spilled paint covering the floor. He's no Picasso, but it's still bright and cheerful. Ako's side is completely empty because... he ain't exactly in physical form yet.

[ q u e s t s ]WandIanna Umbridge Taylor's been to another planet after the weird encounter that likely scarred her forever at the headquarters. Finding she herself was a guardian of one of the wands had to be traumatic anyway. However, it doesn't change the fact - even if she does not want him.
We all know Taylor's a book worm and with a Psionic vampire, it's a good thing. Taylor must take measures to protect herself - have Taylor research ways to protect against psychic invasion and take measures to do just that.
