Oqaia Varlan needs to meet some of the other animals- will someone babysit the poor oxboy?

Sitting quietly on the steps of his wagon, DeArca was quietly shaving wood chips off of a block as he shaped it slowly into what seemed to be half of a spike. He was needing a spike sharp enough to get maple from trees. With luck, hard oak wood would be perfect to puncture maple bark.
Ash squeaked as he was roaming around in the grass, again venturing out into the unknown...a jungle of mystery...for his size anyways.
"Don't get too far, Ash...stay where I can see you!" He called out to the little rodent.
Ash squeaked.

Approching DeArca's wagon from the side, Oqaia smiled to see his shadow just at the edge as she slowly cornered the wagon, standing in front of him. "Good afternoon, DeArca!" She said, noticing that he was crafting. "Oh, I didn't know you were busy. I'm sorry to bother you..." She blushed, embarrassed for making an interruption.
Varlan was standing beside Oqaia, giving a grunt when he noticed something moving around in the grass. He could see Ash's brown fur making a quick streak in the green grass. Curiously, Varlan lowered his head as his snout brushed the grass.

DeArca immediately looked up at Oqaia and smiled as he shook his head. "You're not being a bother, Oqaia. I was just fiddling" he said, putting his wood block and knife away as he placed his hands against his knees. "So? What can I do for you?" He asked, smiling up at her.
From Varlan's snorts and his snout so close, Ash gave a squeak as he jumped onto Varlan's snout, holding on as he looked at him, eye to eye...

Oqaia smiled to him and looked down at his wood block in hand. "Well. I was looking for some help. Lorelei and I are going into town for a little while and I was lookig for someone to watch over Varlan? I was hoping you could watch him for a day?....But if you can't, I'll understand!" She said
Varlan's head jerked back as he stomped around in a fright when Ash had surprised him.
Oqaia turned and gasped as she walked over, putting her hand on Varlan. "Easy...easy, don't hurt him!" She asked, slowly picking up Ash so he wouldn't be crushed

DeArca stood up immediately in a bit of a panic and grabbed Ash so he could let Oqaia take care of Varlan. "Ash, you should know better than that! You would've gotten hurt" he said
Ash squeaked excitedly from all that was happening and scurried around DeArca's palms, soon tunneling up DeArca's sleeve to hide.

Oqaia held Varlan tightly around his neck, whispering to him so he could calm down. "Shh, its alright. It was an accident, Varlan....easy" She kissed him.
Varlan snorted some, a bit upset at the shock of Ash's sudden surprise. He had calmed down as Oqaia spoke with him and his hooves had halted their stomping.
"DeArca, I'm so sorry for this. Maybe it was a bad idea to ask. Ash could've gotten hurt....I'll ask someone else" Oqaia said.

DeArca shook his head and walked over to Oqaia. "No No! It's really ok! I can watch him if you want. I'd love to help out! I'll make sure Ash keeps out of trouble!" He said, reaching over as he petted Varlan's head and smiled. "It'll be ok, I promise! I'll keep him fed and we'll just keep busy for the day" He asked.
Ash peeked out of DeArca's shirt collar, looking around with a bit of curiousity.

Oqaia smiled, nodding to him as she broke away from Varlan. "Thank you so much, DeArca. I'll be back just before dark. He likes the grass but he favors a few berries. The stream just down the road is good to keep him bathed. He'll do that himself. Thank you again!" She asked, walking away.
Varlan snorted at the sight of Ash and turned to follow Oqaia.
"No, Varlan. You have to stay here. DeArca's gonna take care of you just for today. I'll be back soon, I promise!" She said, kissing him.
Varlan whined some and slowly turned back to DeArca.

DeArca put his fingers together, cracking his knuckles after working so hard on that wood block but he approached Varlan and smiled. "How about we just keep around the woods. Want to help me carry wood?" He asked.
Ash squeaked as he jumped down into the grass, heading for the woods to play
DeArca had reached in his wagon, getting his axe as he followed ASh to the woods.

Varlan wasn't going to just be able to be happy about this. But until Oqaia would return, he had to stay with DeArca. Following him to the woods, he just ate some nearby grass.

DeArca entered but a few yards in the wood and then looked around. Spotting a fine tree just to his left, he stood directly against it and looked up to see the straightness of the tree to know which way he could let it fall. Once he came to a decision, a sudden chop filled the air. He chopped at the tree slowly and powerfully and heard the tree give a creak when it was beginning to lean. He waited for the tree to have a big enough wedge to be taken out of it to hear it fall but once his axe was stuck, he leaned back to hear the sudden crack of the tree as it fell. "Timber!" He called and the loud boom of it falling filled the air.
Ash was already running over and began to run across the bark. He squeaked, nibbling on loose bark as he waited patiently for DeArca to take away the wood.
DeArca didn't stop chopping as he began to section the wood to make it easier for transporting it for the camp. The caravan would need firewood and he would gladly help deliver it.

Varlan hated the sound of booms and chops because it interrupted his meal. He had moved away so he could hear less of the sounds but the sudden boom of the tree falling had scared him and he whined. He looked over to see DeArca chopping the tree and he approached, sniffing around the tree.

DeArca had finally been able to break the tree into sections and with rope from his wagon, he began to bind a few logs and drag them while Ash got a ride, hearing him squeak with excitement. "Hey Varlan, you can roll one up the hill and help out a bit? I'd really appreciate it!" DeArca smiled at him.

Varlan snorted at the offer and turned his head away. One? Just one? Who was he asking? Ash?...No way, he'd do three. With his snout, he'd push one log into another, and into another, gaining three in front as he nudged them all forward, bit by bit. Once halfway up the hill, the logs had began to get heavy and he rested, only to watch one of the logs roll away back down the hill. he whined some and tried to balance the other two so they couldn't escape.
