Earth (often referred to as "the Earth", or "the earth") is the third planet in the solar system in terms of distance from the Sun, and the fifth largest. It is also the largest of its planetary system's terrestrial planets, making it the largest solid body in the solar system, and it is the only place in the universe known to support life. The Earth was formed around 4.57 billion years ago and its largest natural satellite, the Moon, was orbiting it shortly thereafter, around 4.533 billion years ago. The year is 1000 A.D. and the world is experiencing a golden age of peace and prosperity. Why, you ask? Magic. Magic, or the "Weave," was discovered four centuries ago by the Holy Republic of Hourai in Shanghai. As word spread of the Weave, scientists and researchers developed it further and faster than imaginable. Soon, every person was completely capable of controlling magic, which manifested itself in unique and individual ways for each person. Today, the world is united under the benevolent reign of the Holy Republic of Hourai. Poverty is all but abolished and freedom is enjoyed by all. Technology level is somewhat futuristic. Though hover technology and teleportation exist, it's mostly found in Republic-owned property, law enforcement vehicles, or extremely expensive luxury vehicles like spaceships. There are formations on the surface of Earth known as "Manawells." These are fissures, crevices, cracks and crystalline formations that exude magical energy from the depths of the world. Following the discovery of magic, these wellsprings of power were left untapped, open to everyone to use and enjoy, though the increase of magic abuse led to the construction of fortresses by the Hourai to protect the Manawells, but still filtering enough out to use for everyday use. As magitek research progressed, the fortresses were expanded and conversion facilities were built to transfer mana into easily usable power for technology, similar to the function of real-world electricity "transformers."

Magic and Magitek Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. -Clarke's Third Law Individual people each have only one or two special abilities granted them by the Weave. It is very rare to have more than two, and while it is documented that the abilities may change, it is only in the case of severe mental trauma that new powers could be discovered, or old ones forgotten. People are unsure what properties of the Weave are responsible for this, but the the powers are varied and different enough that it is rare to the point of implausibility for two people to meet who have the same abilities. Magic varies from things as useful as general manipulation over the elements to abilities as limited as the capacity fo heat and cool steel. Many people are unfortunate enough to end up with abilities that are nearly useless. As a consequence, Magitek has been developed. Put simply, it is technology that functions on the basis of magic and is fueled by the Weave. For this purpose, the Weave is a renewable and completely environmentally safe energy source. Magitek weaponry is all but nonexistent, as war is a thing of the past, a mistake attributed to the barbaric ways of pre-Weave ancestors, however magitek is not only comparable to, but far in excess of our real-world current level of technology, and has solved most of the major problems of poverty and hunger present prior to its development. The current level of technology is such that space travel is commercialized and construction on a moon base and gate to be used to travel to, colonize, and terraform other planets began in 990 A.D. It is projected to be functional in 1007 and completed in 1010.

On Earth, there is a wide variety of races, ranging from full breeds (Pedigree) to half breeds of varying composure. The races will be listed here:
Human: Mirror. Now. Humans experience the widest range of people with useful and useless magic.
Elf: As opposed to classical elves, these elves are just as comfortable in a city or an office as humans. The only real difference elves have from humans in this day and age is being generally thinner and taller than humans, and having the classic pointed ears. They tend to have more useful magic than humans, although it is not impossible for a human to have a more "powerful" ability than an elf.
Ramoire: This is the general term for the entire race of animal-people. Their creation stems from the changes brought about from the base species being mutated by overexposure to the Weave through excess use of magic abilities. The exposure to such a high concentration of magic energy caused them to develop and evolve rapidly, though the reason they universally retain a humanoid form and why not all those who use magic in excess bear ramoire children is unknown. It's generally accepted scientifically that the first species of ramoire was feline in nature, although there is little to no historical evidence to back this up. Half-breeds are a relatively common sight among ramoire, but it is less common for half-breeds to inhereit physical characteristics from both parents, with most instead looking like only one parent. Ramoire individuals will either have extremely useful magic or utterly useless magic. It is rare for anyone to end up with a common, useful-but-ordinary ability. The unusual nature of the creation of the Ramoire is such that they are a minority race on Earth.
Troll: Trolls are tall, lanky, and muscular. They have both elven and orcish characteristics with their long fangs and ears. They have long arms, strong legs and quick reflexes. Their skin color ranges from light green to blue and even some lighter shades of purple. Trolls rarely have useful magic, but their race is reknown for having the most knack with Magitek use and development. Trolls are, like the ramoire, a minority race.
Orc: In contrast to trolls, orcs are slightly shorter than humans, and more thickly built, but still more muscular on average. Their skin is universally green, although the shades of green will vary from person to person. Orcs also contrast trolls in that they are usually possess two useful magics, while finding difficulting in using or understanding Magitek, and they are the most common race, with humans running a very close second. Orcs tend to have shorter tempers than most other races. Orcs are the most likely race to have three or more magic abilities, although it is still very rare.

Character Form: Username: Character name: Race: Magic: (Here, list and describe what abilities your character has without the aid of magitek) Occupation: (Describe the nature/prestige/etc. of the job(s).) Yes, I know I left out description and personality. I believe RP posts to be more capable of depth without the limitation of not being able to describe your character without repeating your character application, and I expect any significant personality traits to be developed in RP posts as well. Go ahead and type out what you want for your description and personality if you REALLY want and think it'll help you, but don't bother PMing that part to me because I won't post it. PM the form to me when you are satisfied.

Accepted Characters!
Lykus Username: Lykus Character name: Dingo Rastazad Race: Troll Magic: Dingo can bend light around his body, making himself essentially invisible. However, this only works on his body, and not on his clothing, and the lack of a need for stealth in the peaceful world of Earth is such that he rarely finds use for it. Occupation: Dingo is the Chief Foreman overseeing the construction of the Hourai Moon Base. The excavation phase of construction is nearly complete and he will soon be showing the world a broadcast of a holographic projection that will represent the planned structure of the base and gate, as well as how it works. The job pays very well, and Dingo would live a quality of life that would easily be considered "Upper class" by the people of 1000 A.D.
