Mornings were hazy this close to the coast with prewinter chill setting in. It was just enough to make mornings nippy. A little too chill to be comfortable without a warm shirt or blanket.
Nestled in the little house off the main a particular languid teen wrapped his arm a bit more securely around the body laying next to his. Between the warm quilt over the sheets and a warm wing under the bed was downright toasty.
Bits of fog crept by ankle high on the panes, almost puppyish in their attention seeking. In her bed Sonata just gave a soft whuff and burried her nose further under her tail. Far too early for sensible creatures to be up and about. The sun had only just started peeking up the horizon afterall.

Elle had never been one to rise with the sun. Eyes closed, dreams still pleasantly fading, she snuggled a bit closer to the youth beside her. Every part of her was comfortable, warm and relaxed.
In the space between waking and dreaming, the shadows crept closer, as they always did. Brow furrowing, Elle's hand closed absently on another hand...and the shadows faded.
Her face smoothed, and all was well once again. It was almost time to wake.

A slight furrow on his brow was followed by wings and arms snugging around the one laying next to him. With both occupants wrapped in a security net of flesh and feathers a soft sigh escaped, ruffling amber hair.
Sonata was unfortunate enough to get a sunbeam right in the eyes. Right, pull the bed into a different corner tonight. No going back to sleep now.
Grumbling to herself she yawned and stretched rather regally before padding over and ingratiating herself with the quilt. Laying across two pairs of feet and sniffing idly at the odd colors of hair that peeked past the hem.

At the arrival of a guest, Elle's eyes fluttered open. She focused sleepily on Sonata, and greeted the companion with a smile...eyes closing once again. She was so comfortable, but she knew they had to wake soon. There were things to be done, after all!
Resting for a few moments more, the last bits of sleep fading, Elle kept her eyes closed and found the side of Lonan's face with one hand. Once her fingers brushed his cheek, she leaned forward...cheek bumping a bit to one side, obviously navigating blind, before her lips found his.
Nothing like a good morning.

The wolf gave a soft whuff of greeting before settling down to watch. This should be mildly entertaining.
A sleepy murr came from the teen, tilting his head to the touch. A breif moment and then wings shivered lightly around them both, wrapping them snuggly in fine feathers. The hand that had previously been laying across her came to rest on her waist, giving gentle pressure as he returned the kiss.
As all good things must the kiss came to an end. Opening his eyes he blinked a few times to clear away the sleep sand. A languid sigh left him, a wash of contentment flowing as his hand came up to cup her cheek. "Good morning."
Sonata whuffed again. Yup. Definately entertaining. She got a breif bump from a foot under her. She almost whuffed in amusement again. Almost.

Opening her eyes a little at Lonan's stirring, Elle smiled. She hadn't meant to wake him, but knew it probably would. Settling back against the pillow as they relaxed, she made a small and happy noise.
It didn't take long to realize they were being watched. Poking Sonata in the side with a toe, gently, Elle smiled more deeply. "Good morning. Both of you."
Rolling her head a bit to the side, focusing on the wolf, she squinted through a fall of tumbled amber hair. "Don't suppose you know how to make breakfast?"

"Yes, I do. Why don't you just relax. It won't be spectacular, but it will be edible."
Gently disentangling himself from Elle he managed to keep the covers in place as he got up. A quick stretch and a flap of the wings and he was completely awake.
He was efficient in his movements in the kitchenette. A pan brought out and a few other things. In short order there was a plate of toast, hot cereal and a kettle to boil for tea. This time he had no problem finding the tea in the cupboard, puling one handmade bag out and dropping it in the pot to steep.
Sonata just retaliated with a little bop of her paw to the toe in her side.

Pushing up in bed, still a rumpled mess, Elle laughed as Lonan began moving about in the small kitchen area. "You are so sweet, but I was actually teasing this footwarmer, here." She gave Sonata another nudge, and finally relented...leaning forward with one hand loosely outstretched to see if the wolf wanted some morning scritchies. "I would have asked more politely if I was serious!"
She wasn't going to argue, however...Lonan gave her a suggestion that she had no problem agreeing with. Relaxing, stretching one arm up above her head as she yawned, Elle peeked out the window.
"Looks cold out there! That's lovely!"

His only reply to that was to turn his head slightly and raise and eyebrow. One hand passed through his hair and it was in neat order. Wings tucked against his back like a cape kept the bite out of the chill. No robe needed.
"Well, then next time I'll just have to top this one." The tea steeped he carefully removed the bundle of tea leaves and spices. Reaching for a jar he carefully plucked out a piece of honeycomb and dropped it in the pot. After putting two more pieces on a little side dish he idly sucked the sweetess that had adhered to his thumb. Seeing him do that was more odd than seeing him fan his wings, it was so ordinary and young.
Tray in ahnd he walked back to the bed and sat down beside Elle. One bowl was placed on the floor and Sonata went for it. Only after getting a good ear scritch though. The meal was simple but it was warm and homemade. "Take your fill."

Elle settled back and pulled him closer, her thighs pressed against his hip as she leaned in to take a breath over the breakfast in bed. "Mmm...you know? We might not make it out today."
Pinching off a bite of toast, Elle dabbed it in something sweet and popped it in her mouth...smiling up at her companion. "I can't remember what was so important, anyway..." The next piece she held up for him, asking to see if he wished a bite.

His wings automatically tucked a bit tighter against his back, giving Elle as much room as she needed. Though one did flicker to tickle her back with an erant feather. Just once.
The scent of honey and warm bread was suddenly much closer than he remembered. Already used to the small game he opened his mouth for the bit. Even though it was a bit silly he never really minded when it was just Elle and himself.
Carefully chewing and swallowing the offered bit he made sure his tongue wouldn't be stuck when he spoke. "I need a few more pigments. I'm nearly out of a few and when frost hits it will be too late for the year. If you do not want to venture out I can get what I need and be back before lunch." There was a sincerity in his words, he did not mind if she wanted to stay warm and cozy in the bed. But he did need to get the pigments before the frost stole them for the season.

"I'd rather be cold and with you, than the alternative." Arching a bit as the feather tickled her back, Elle smiled...waiting to see if there was more coming before she took another bite.
Munching for a bit in silence, she glanced back out the window thoughtfully. "It will be a nice walk, especially with the company. Can we make a few side stops on the way?" There were a few things she needed to find as well.
"And the food is wonderful, thank you Lonan."

He gave the soft flicker-smile at her statement. He cold have gone alone, but he much prefered the company.
"Of course we can. It would be rather selfish of me if this outting was only for my pigments." The flicker-smile flashed into existence again for a moment
"You're welcome." With that he carefully rose from the bed, taking the tray to the sink and washing the dishes. Setting them in the rack to dry he gathered his things by the door for when Elle was ready. As it was he needed to don more than just sleep pants as well.

Finishing the last few bites, aside from what she'd saved for Lonan, Elle slid out of bed. She showered in the evenings, so there was no need for anything lengthy, but a quick face wash always helped her to wake up.
Elle shimmied out of her short nightgown, and dressed with no hurry. Despite the chill outside, she was barefoot as always. "Being selfish is something you could stand to practice. I'll help you work on it tonight." She was kidding about him needing to be selfish, but it was clear she intended to make his evening enjoyable. Perhaps she'd catch that rare smile once again.
"I'm almost ready. Mind if I pack a bit of food for a snack?" He wouldn't mind if she'd done so without asking, Elle was sure, but it just wasn't her way.

"I very much doubt that is a lesson I will learn." There was a trace of amusement flitering from him. While Elle washed he found suitable pants for the day and dressed.
"I would like that. And of course you may. I am certainly not one to deny sustinence in the face of a long walk." Moving towards the cupboards he pulled out a drawer and left a good sized napkin open on the counter. Beside it an empty bottle. "Pack what you like. There's also fruit to be had along the way."
Thinking for a moment of the chill he pulled out the lighter cloak he'd brought and laid it out on the bed. His wings would be more than enough for him but it might serve Elle well just in case.
