Name Lexicon between Humans and Wolves: ---Because Bran and Hinto don't speak "Wolf" and because Lexi, Gaara and Nile don't speak "Human" (actually nile doesn't speak at all....) Here's a Lexicon of the names each calls the other, so everyone knows who's talking about who: Brown is Human names, Green is Wolf.Gaara---- Hakan (fire)Lexi---- Taima (Thunder)Nile---- -no nickname yet-Bran Greyjoy---- Meal TicketHinto---- Ohanzee (shadow)The spring woods are the brilliant gold-green of new leaves, and the smell of the young growth hangs heavy in the air. Early blooms, like Trillium, Dandylion, Lady Slippers, Quaker Ladys and PussyToes bloom each in turn, the ground is soft with the melted snow, and leaves tracks more readily than in other times of the years, but this place is outside of claimed wolf territory, but still a passing through point for the visitors now making their way through the territory. An very unusual gathering of both wolves and humans, following the river in search of a new pack land, and a new place to build. Lexi and her Mate Gaara are seeking pack land, to make their own young, strong new pack, as Haku's pack is growing large, and with them, in an unusual 'partnership', albeit a distant and cautious one, goes the Half-native pelt trapper Bran Chogan Greyjoy and his informaly addopted 'son', the blind child Hinto. Bran himself seeks refuge from another wolf entirely, the agressive Alpha Female of Haku's pack, who torments him when other members of the pack have managed to arrange a sort of mutual peace. It is, in the end, Spring, and a time for new beginings.

Hinto had grown quite attached to his new home and his new family in the winter months. The wolves he reconized by their sounds, the texture of their pelts, and by the names that Bran called them by. It was a bit difficult for him to leave the wolves but Bran hadn't liked the witch wolf, or so he called her, and since his two favorate wolves were leaving, he decided it might be a good time to leave as well.
The boy held onto Bran's sleeve as they walked with one hand and in the other he traced the ground with his long wooden stick, watching out for any bumps that might trip him up or dips that might sink a foot and cause him to twist it the wrong way. Both he'd done before and neither he found to be something he wanted to repeat.
The boy was taking in the land in his own way, listening to the sounds of the spring birds, feeling the length of the grass and the warmth of the wind, and smelling the sweetness of freshly budded flowers and leaves. "It smells nicer here." He said cheefully, turning up towards were he could assume Bran was, "Let's find a place close to the river. I like hearing the rain fall on the water."

"I'll do what I can, though I don't want to build too close to the river unless I'm sure how high it will flood. Swimming's all fine and good, as long as it's not in the house." He chuckles softly, one hand on Hinto's shoulder as an extra 'eye'. He carries much of what he's unwilling to leave in an heavy pack on his back, his traps, some tools, a bit of food, and of course his quiver and bow. He keeps a close eye on the little grey female, who's head is held high with an growing sense of confidence in herself. Gaara, though thats not the name Bran knows him by, also he thinks, looks a bit more confident, though somehow Gaara has always held an unshakable air of pride about him that even his injuries couldn't take away. The young, huge wolf has recovered well though, for which Bran is grateful.
Lexi walks with her head held high, an slight wag in her tail. She's pleased to finaly be taking this step, to becoming an Alpha wolf in her own right, an Alpha Female, yes, but under Leera's example she views this as a position of power equaled only by her mate Gaara. They're strong enough to have made it this far, through the attacks of her puppyhood, Gaara's fall, and the massive storm. They're strong hunters, and strong enough, she feels, to found their own pack.

Moving before the two humans, wary of the stick that the boy carried--not wanting to get smacked by it in the rear and spook. Gaara himself had grown to trust the two humans, Bran having the most trust of course, and had allowed them to follow...with Bran around they could be better protected and could get food easily, too. The boy--well, he was a boy. He was there. Not too bad, the wolf was able to see that this boy suffered the same fate of Bran's eye...blind. Though, that had been his fault.
As his mate, he held his head high, tail held up a bit more as well--showing dominance to the four-person pack. Yes, he considered the people his pack mates, as well...glancing back every so often to make sure that Bran and Hinto were still there--scenting if they were tired or hungry.
And the most important of the pack, his mate...he kept a wary eye on her, as well, not wanting anything to happen. They had left so suddenly he wouldn't be surprised if Haku followed...or any of the other pack members, for that matter.
Maw would part in a large yawn...tongue lulling to one side as canines bared. Sniffing soon afterwards, his ears swiveled here and there..listening. No threat could be seen, scented, or heard. So, the large male was quite confident at this point...relaxed, in a way.

"So..." Lexi nudges Gaara's jaw. "How does it feel to be an ALPHA." She chuckles, in so much as a wolf does, tail sweeping back and forth. "I almost wish we had a seer though, Leera was the only one who could speak to your twoleggers, and she didn't like him at all."

Hinto had never heard of a flood. They lived near a river and though it did expand and contract at times of the year it was never considered a flood. It just meant more water, more fish, and more protection from the river to his tribe. Everything was controlled by a god of some sort. The god of the river would send more or less water depending on how contented or displeased with his people that he had been. The river god had taken his father, he could remember the people using that to try and give comfort to his dying mother and himself. He liked the river, but never thought it to come into his house. "Well don't build the house on the water then." He said with a bit of a chuckle.
He could hear the other two wolves ahead of them, Hakan was closest. His footsteps were heavy on the grass, sinking more into the earth and his breaths were heavier. But he didn't sound angry like he ddi when he had first encountered the giant wolf, "Hakan sounds happy, I think he likes it here too, Bran."

He'd smirk at her, and push her back a bit, but would snicker soon afterwards. "Very nice," he'd reply, lengthening his stride a bit--before freezing suddenly. He bolted to the side when the said stick came up behind him, brushing past the child's side, and dropping to all fours once more behind the two humans to stare back...a deep growl escaping him.
He was aggressive...something Bran was probably used to by now. As well as his mate. But she had a streak of evil in her too. >_>;
Anywho. He'd bristle a bit--till the other wolf came into view. He almost fell over in shock.."The mute." He mumbled and sighed, seeing the tiny wolf come closer..head and tail low with a following whimper.

"I think you're right." Bran agrees. "He's walking like a cheif wolf." He grins. "I think he's desided we're his wolf tribe...Him and his little mate." Or thats what his guess is as to the wolf's behavior. His initial thought had been to head back toward the coast and and a trapper settlement to trade some furs and search a map for someplace to go that would be close enough to a city to find Hinto...he didn't know what he would have found him there. The boy seems content enough out here, and thus far, he's capable enough to be less of a hidrance than Bran had thought, able to identify an surprising number of things by the senses he has left. He starts suddenly as Gaara turns and bolts back behind them with a snarl, taking Hinto's shoulder protectively and reaching for one of his skinning knives. No chance that he could draw his bow if they're being attacked, not unless Hakan can hold them...but the dark wolf stops again, hackles dropping, as the little Mute comes wandering through the brushes. He relaxes his grip on Hinto's shoulder with an notable sigh of releif, sliding the Blade back into it's sheath. "It's the mute pup..." He explains, though not sure if Hinto's met this youngling yet. "She startled Hakan is all, it's alright." Not just Hakan actually, but with his attention averted he hadn't seen Lexi's reaction, as she droped to a silent crouch, teeth bared and moved ready to flank the pup before realizing who, exactly, it was.
"Drybones...I thought it was Lera or Feanaro..." She whuffs, straightening and relaxing. "Whats SHE Doing here?" She asks, puzzled, padding over on Bran's other side. Lexi does indeed have an distinct streak in her of cunning and ferosity, although unlike her mate she's not as well known for it, it's never the less present, and perhaps explains her taste in mate. She knows her size will never be that of her towering Mountan Wolf mate, but she makes up for her lack of size with an wicked mind and her willingness to pull some very cold tricks on fellow wolves if the need arises.

He huffed a bit and sighed, shaking his head slowly and looking back at them. He could smell the tenseness radiating off of Bran--must have startled him too. He chuckled a bit, but looked back at his mate as Nile came closer. "Not sure, cant ask, either." Yes, he was a bit cruel in saying this, but still. It was true. Looking back to Nile, he arched a brow...before rolling his eyes.
"You followed without your Father's permission. He's going to have my a**," he scowled, and moved to the head of the group again. "If you want to come, we throw you to your Dad when he comes after me trying to chew my a** out. All right?" Obviously, he was far from stupid. He knew this little female wanted to either join the pack--or thought it was some kind of strange game.

Hinto's stick had met with Hakan, quite by accident but he'd not quite figured out how to judge distance by the sound at his young age so it was a mistake he had made a few times over- only not all of them with Haken luckily for him -and would probibly end up making a few times over through his life. Gasping as the wolf jerked and leapt behind him he turned just slightly, his normally closed eyes flashing open in shock at he listened to the big wolf growl. The hand on his shoulder steadied him from falling flat on his back in the process of being horribly startled. Taking a few deep breaths he relaxed, slowly moving his stick to the ground.
Bran explained the situation though both wolves were making different breathing sounds, a bit tense. They probibly didn't know the mute wolf... he surely didn't. Turning up to Bran he shook his head, "I never met the mute wolf, is she coming with us too?" He hoped so, another wolf meant another friend that he could try to get close to. He liked to sleep in their fur though these two didn't seem to care too much for him trying that little stunt. Still being only five he hardly had a grasp on how dangerous a wolf could really be if touched the wrong way or startled.

"Her name is Nile" Lexi explains to her mate, padding closer to examine the mute adolecent. "I wonder if he knows she's missing." She can half understand why Nile would leave, although she's not sure this will improve her situation. Nile, without being able to comunicate to other wolves, will likely never be able to efficiently hunt in part of a group without some seriously inventive strategies. But then again they've already got two in this pack with which they can't communicate, one blind, and neither with teeth or claws to speak of, although the big ones odd bent stick seems to have some talent bringing down prey. This pack is becoming complicated... "Oh I think I have a nickname for Meal Tickets little freind." She gives Gaara an sidelong, amused look. "Since we're on the subject of names. How about Ohanzee, since he's like a shadow, following people around."
"I don't know if she's coming with us or not." Bran answers truthfuly. "She was small when you came, just a pup in the den. I know her because of a great snowstorm that came through. It cleared out slightly before you arived, which was well, because I wasn't at my home that night. I was in a wolf den." That was where he'd first encountered the "Witch Wolf", who defied all rules of wolfdom as he knew them, attacking him even when he did everything he knew to look submissive, and had been accepted by the other wolves as a tolerable presense. "She has brown fur, like Hakan, with black patterns on her face and shoulders like fire or leaves." She he hasn't given a name to yet, but then neither has he found a name for the little grey wolf, Hakan's mate.

Hinto nodded, fascinated with the fact that Bran had lived with wolves too during the winter storms. He had lived with a few of them, the first wolf he had met was the one that carried him to Bran but there were others. Soft Fur was another one that he had seen, he had no real other way of naming them but the young wolf had the softest fur he had felt. That was back when the girl was with them too, the one that took his coat and called a wolf pup her brother. His nose wrinkled a bit remembering her, he liked that coat too, his father had given it to him but seeing as there was little to be done about it it was best to try not to dwell on it too much. "A little Hakan?" He smiled at the thought, hoping that if she was a "little Hakan" that she would at least be nicer than the larger version, "How little? Is she a pup still?"

"Yes...A little like Hakan. She's one of the Alpha's litter, from the other wolves. She's about half grown, but shy." Shyer than he remembers. He remembers an bolt, energy filled little pup who barked with no voice and climbed on his lap in spite of her mother's evident distaste.
"We're not going to go back to Haku's pack lands, Nile..." Lexi warns. "Gaara and I mean to start our own pack, you know that right?" She's not sure how the younger wolf will comunicate, but there must be some way...

Hinto nodded, turning his head in the direction of the wolves as they spoke to eachother. He could hear them, pick up their voices somewhat- as much of a voice as a wolf could. "The she-cheif's being nice, isn't she? To the little one. Mabye she'll take care of her too." He wanted to meet the little wolf, she was quiet but by her movements against the ground she was a bit scared. The she-cheif didn't have a name either, they'd have to think of one for them both at a later time. he didn't really know what brown was, or how the patterns were so it would be difficult to name them on what he'd been told about them.

"I'm not sure, I think perhaps. She's not making threatening moves, I can tell you that much." Bran answers, watching the interaction between the three wolves. "I suppose we ought to call her something different than 'She-Cheif'." He says thoughtfuly. It's not terribly descriptive, and in the way of wolf packs, she might someday loose that rank, although between her and her fierce mate it would have to be one hell of a battle.
