RULES
The game will be semi-freeform (explained below), however I ask that everyone observe certain guidelines when posting.
The guild is under a "three-strikes" system. Failing to comply with any of the following rules will result in a strike against your record. If you accumulate three strikes, you will be terminated automatically, no questions asked.
1) Please do not flood. Flooding involves making rediculously long posts that are pages and pages. Please limit your posts to no more than a few paragraphs at most, so that I dont have to spend an hour reading, otherwise I'm going to simply ignore your post.
1.5) On the other-hand, please do not make posts that are only one sentence or consist of a few sentences of dialouge and one sentence of descriptive narrative. Include at least one full paragraph of descriptive narrative - each paragraph consisting of at least three complete sentences.
2) Please dont contradict what another player posts. If someone else does something, respect their narration. An example of this is when someone "attacks" your character. Do not just ignore this because you dont want to react to it. Please read what people post and post accordingly.
2.5) Which means, please read the posts. Dont just skim through them because they're long and you're in a hurry to post something. Read them through completely and then post. If I see posts that demonstrate a blatant ignorance of what's going on or what someone else posted, I will delete your post without warning and you will receive a strike against your guild record. Make sure you know what is going on before you post. There are no exceptions to this rule. If you are even slightly confused, ask questions in the Q&A forum.
3) Do not start unecessary arguements and fights with NPCs and player characters just to be random and disruptive. I will disreguard such posts if such behavior is not justified by the scene or by your character's persona/background. Repeat behavior of this kind will have consequences, and I have had to ask players to leave my games before for this sort've thing.
4) When describing the actions of your character, please be as clear as possible. You have room for artistic expression here, but please don't go overboard to the extent that nobody has any idea what you are describing. Try to simplify your posts so that they are easy to read. Omit needless words, and use descriptive adjectives that we all know the meaning of. Not everyone is a poet. For example, calling something "umbral" is not immediately going to connect with the darkest part of a shadow in everyone's mind unless you can make it painfully obvious what you're refering to when you use the word. Try to consider the skill level of your reader. Nothing annoys me more than when I'm reading a post that is brilliantly worded and yet so confusing that I have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. I dont want to decipher your post with a thesaurus just to read it.
5) Complaints or disagreements should be made in private and sent via a private message to either me or the player you have grievances with. Do not start a flame war in my game. This will result in an automatic ban. No strikes are awarded for such behavior. I will not tolerate open fights. They disrupt the entire community.
6) Above all, please have fun. Dont bring your issues with you to the game when you make a post. Make sure that you're in the right mood to express yourself and not pissed at something that will color your reactions inappropriately. If you're really horny, go wank off before you post so that your post isn't saturated with sexual innuendo. If you're energetic, go run a lap around the block to calm down. This is kind of an important element in roleplaying, as you should always leave your OOC life behind when you step into the life of your character. But dont take it too far. Just make sure that you're here to have a good time.
SETTING
I have a lot of material to write up for this game, so bear with me. If there is important information that you require in order to play your character appropriately, please make a request for it under the "Crescent Star Saga Q&A" topic. I will try to reply as soon as possible with an answer to your inquiry.
THREADS
OOC threads are for OOC.
All other threads that are not flagged as OOC should be assumed to be IC and treated as such.
CHARACTERS
Each player may have up to five characters, and only one active character per chapter. Before each new chapter you are required to send me a private message letting me know which of your characters will be participating. Please use common sense. If one chapter ends in such a way as to make it impossible for you to change characters, please respect the continuity of the story and continue that character. If you truely wish to switch characters at such points, I will try my best to accomodate you, but it may not always be possible. I may require you to play your existing character until a certain pre-determined point, at which point we can arrange the introduction of a different character.
SYSTEM
As I said, the system will be semi-freeform. What this means is that it will not make use of any published dice-rolling systems, as I find such systems to be far too complex and require too much time to learn. Instead, you will not be required to make dice rolls for any action you wish to perform unless it is opposed by another player or NPC. When you encounter an opposition to your action, such as during combat, dice rolling will proceed as follows.
You will each roll a single D20. Whoever rolls the highest takes priority on descriptive narration of a single combat action. A single combat action is an attack, an attempt to dodge or parry, moving more than 30 feet, the use of a psionic ability, or the use of an item that does not require more than a few seconds to activate. Actions which take longer automatically sacrifice narrative priority. There is no such thing as "combat initiative" - however, the player who posts first receives a +1 bonus to their roll for narrative priority.
There are no skills or ways to improve this roll. It is simply a measure of random chance thrown in to balance the system so that players cannot "god-mod" and play invulnerable characters without weaknesses.
Thanks to all of you for showing an interest and wanting to become a part of Crescent Star Saga. I hope you find it to be most extraordinary.
