I've recently started training in Wushu under Tang Laiwei (google his name and see what turns up razz ), and I'm loving it. I find that the techniques are totally impractical for fighting, but man does it do wonders for your body. I am able to do the splits after 4 weeks of training, while 5 years of Karate only got me half-way there. Not to mention, Wushu looks friggin' awesome. razz

I don't think there is a Wu Shu place even near me I know we don't have one here or the towns around us I have only seen two Kung Fu places around my Wing Chun school and one other place that I am not sure is even runing any more.

My teacher, sifu bryant fong, used to be part of the U.S. wushu team. Most of the techniques are impractical in combat, but i feel its good for health and i just love the art. Kool to know theres sumone on gaia who practices wushu! lol

So far I've only been going for 5 weeks, have completed 5-Stance and am now learning Short-Long Fist. One of the advanced guys in the class knows how to use the Three-Sectioned Cudgel... Man I cannot wait to learn that. biggrin

I also practice eagleclaw which is probably the form im most interested in. I learned my eagle form from liu qing hua when i trained at Beijing's Shi Cha Hai sports school. But other than those forms, my teacher taught me some traditional shaolin forms such as shaolin longfist and mantis. So 5 weeks? thats kool! keep it up....i bet u'll be great since YOUR coach was a beijing team member lol......

I want to learn Chin Na, Gouquan dog style maybe and probably Shuai Jiao and I would love to learn to use the Dao, Pu Dao, spear maybe Kuan Dao. I want to learn more grappling techniques to add to my Wing Chun maybe learn more Nanquan systems I am more of a punching grappling type of guy so southern styles with less kicks would be great for me.

Gymnastics would be a big help during your wushu training since contemporary wushu DOES incorporate some gymnastics....and flexibility is big in wushu also
