Laburnum City, resting upon both shores the river which flows southwards into the sea and divides the lands of Gaia in twain; cutting it into the kingdoms of the eastern shore, and the kingdoms of the western shore, could be called the center of the world by some. By others, however, it is simply a place of conflict... where east meets west, where worlds collide, where tempers flare and two nations which are nearly at each other's throats are forced to live as one, with only a few hundred feet of open water between them.

Within the western half of the city, near the banks of the river, so that the cool, mosit air that wafts from it and provides a sharp and clear reprieve from the stagnant and pungeant air of the interior of the city is clearly present through the large, lattice windows that stand open nearly at all times in this season, the building that will be the center of tonight's attention stands. It is two stories high, bearing many windows on all its faces, and is bordered uopn the front and the northern side by the cobblestone streets of the city. Its southern edge faces the eastern embassy; a tall building with a light in the window at nearly every hour, even durring the middle hours of the day; and its eastern wall faces towards the open expanse of the river.

Outside the entrances are already being sealed in preparation for the arrival of the guests. Guards are sweeping through every room in the building to ensure that there are no unwelcome visitors, and that only the kitchen staff and servers remain, as they await the nobles of both lands which are to meet tonight.

Directly through the entrance of the buliding there is a long hallway, lit by candles and decorated ornately with crimson fabrics and golden statues upon either side, the walls also adorned with paintings and tappestries... this trend continues past many closed doors and branching hallways until the main body of the building opens up into a grand dining hall; ceiling high windows sit open as the clean, cool air from the river wafts through the room, stirring up a breeze which causes the odors drifting from the kitchen to carry throughout the wide space. In the center of the room is a square set of tables, three rectangular tables facing each other, with plush chairs set up upon the outside of each, and the fourth side of the square being composed of various wheeled carts and trays with white cloths draped over them.

Here and about a servant will skitter, attending to minor details or cleaning up footprints left by the guards upon the polished tile floor, though, despite the activity, the place seems so very lifeless and empty...

...perhaps it is waiting for the guests to arrive?

The clip clopping of the horses hooves where all Rose could hear at the moment, she knew where she was heading and wondered why it never crossed her mind before. She figured it was stress over wondering what the meeting was for that was clouding her judgement and left it at that. She chewed on a bit cheese she had just picked up along the way as her mind went over facts in her head. She was trying to recall terms, racial slurs, past events anything that would turn up while the two nations were 'talking' as they sometimes called it. The trootting of the horse slow down to a stop as she turned a corner and looked up to the the two story building.

Her eyes looked over the building the meeting was going to be in, atleast that she had been inform it was going to be in. There had been a few times when she had been mislead to the wrong place, but that was when she was still just a trainee and was treated with no respect. Times changed and now she was the head of the Silver Arbiters, someone of importance, someone you didn't cross without thinking twice of what might happen. She was confident she had not been mislead this day it was to important of a time to be mislead.

She finished off her cheese and burshed herself off quickly making sure she looked presentable, when she was satisfied she nudged the horse to head toward the building. She took in a deep breathe and sighed as she put on a face of indefference to close now to turn back. She would have to deal with the guards first to get inside the buidling, which wasn't really hard most of the times but was always annoying experience. She prayed to the spirits that the guards were from Labrumn and stupid so she wouldn't have to flare her temper outside the building's gates.

Slifer stood in the shadows, waiting for an oppurtunity. A small man walked past, his mousy brown hair swaying as he walked. Slifer smiled, perfect. The small man appeared to be carrying a bundle of vegetables. Slifer would ambush him from the alleyway. As the man walked past Slifer quickly lunged, his arm wrapping around the mans mouth and head, the other around his waist. Slifer quickly gave a sharp hit to his knockout point.

The man slumped in Slifer's arms. Slifer quickly lay him on the dirt alleyway. Slifer then began to strip him of his clothing, down to his underwear. Placing all this over his clothes, and a small beret like object over his head, to hide his ears. He then looked at the chef, someone would see him there. He dragged him down to a dark corner and covered him with a blanket. He then dusted himself down and picked the vegetables up.

He began walking toward the large building, pulling his beret down to mask his face slightly, and letting his dark hair fall infront, making him look more like someone who had worked alot. He walked straight up to the gates and stood there impatiently, almost as if he was waiting to be let inside the building. Almost as if he was expecting it, he was always a good actor. He fumbled slightly with the vegetables, making them look heavy.

Anastazi, Serefina, and their small retinue approached the building. Anastazi glanced around disinterestedly. He had been in Laburnum many times before, but this would be his first meeting of such high importance to the King.

As they entered the grounds, Anastazi signaled to the rest of the party to dismount as he did. He stood for a moment, looking up at the quiet building, then looked at his sister and grinned.

"Do behave, 'Fina."

'Fina' slid off her horse with a long practiced grace as to become natural, not once did her movements falter. She glanced at the building but said nothing only smoothing her dress. She was dressed in the top of fashion, it wouldn't do to disappoint her brother after all. " Why wouldn't I behave Stazi," Her lashes fluttering attractively as she had been trained to do but everyone had thought she had failed to learn, she just hadn't seen much use in. I'm here after all for you, brother dearest"

Rose sighed as he saw some thug jump a chef, and then walked out a few moments later in his clothes. There was no blood so she was glad the chef hadn't been killed, but frustrated that this place hadn't been sweeped better for riff raff like him. Rose dismounted her horse and walked toward the front gate where the 'chef' was waiting for something. Who knows what it could be, but she was sure it wasn't her so she would be relativly safe. She put a hand near her rapier just incase though and pulled along her horse with the other hand.

She was still in her red uniform but her hair was back into a ponytail to keep it from getting in her face. She smiled to the 'chef' and then looked forward tapping on the gate to get a gaurds attention. She didn't have a chariot or someone to announce her arrival so she had to do it this way. She had left to hastly without thinking and turning back now could cause her to be to late to do anything. She wish she had thought things through instead of coming alone but it was to late for that. Her eyes kept checking for any suden movements by the 'chef' so she could defend herself properly if the need came to be.

Slifer smiled and nodded his head to Rose. He meant no harm to anyone. He was just, probing for information. If this was the only way to do so, then so be it. He sighed as he pretended to feel the weight of the vegetables. He looked at the guards and stared at them for a moment, almost looking blankly past them before saying "Excuse me" in an eastern dialect "I am new here, could you direct me in the direction of the kitchens. These vegetables are awfully heavy." he then smiled at the guards and bowed slightly.

A man sporting a silken, deep blue cheongsam with silver lining and a dragon on the back that seemed to frolic and toy with ocean waves walked through the building. Pants of the same hue were silk as well, with what seemed to be black slippers on his feet. Among the other guards, who seemed to have an overabundance of pride and station, this man was more of a silent observer than anything. As such, his eyes missed nothing that they captured within their steel blue gaze, and his mind froze each image into memory as he continued his slow, steady gait through the palace.

Every movement was carefully measured to an exact point, and yet seemed completely random at the same time. If one didn't know any better from the elegant clothing and such, one would mistake the man for just a wealthy backpacker who paid enough to enter the palace and look around.

However, his wanderings had a purpose... he was making his rounds as usual, his senses always alert and ready for the occasion. Lao Fei Zhu had already made one mistake that had cost him his position. He would make it his first priority to regain his station and his honor, and if this were the only way to do so, then so be it.

"Ah, yes...see that you remember that." Anastazi glided smoothly up to the front entrance and knocked politely, waiting for someone to see him in.

"Of course brother dear" her cornflower blue eyes twinkling with merriment and mischief as she sashayed up behind her brother as was proper. Her clothing was very western in a appearance tho the fabric that made up her bodice was of silk with a very eastern design on it. Thankfully the men around her never paid more attention to fashion than they had to.

Stazi was the exception to the rule but he also had other things on her mind than her slight faux pax in dress. Most likely none would even notice. She simply brushed a few fingers through her hair, loosening her wimple before adjusting it as she waited for them to be let in, wether by a guard or servant. It was never good business to keep people waiting, esp not when lives could be on the line.

Two knocks sounded off throughout the building.

Lao of course, was expecting this. No one, save for the guards, servants, and the Kaikou were allowed to gain entrance... so then, if the guards outside had allowed these to pass through, then it must be the representatives from the West. He hoped to see something of their counterparts again, seeing as he had a deep interest in both parts of Gaia, mostly due to his travels.

As he headed toward the door, he had the faint inklings of a smile on his face. If nothing else, this would be a good way to bide his time. He soon opened the door and stood face to face with the nobles, bowing courteously to them. He needed not to know their names as of yet- he would soon enough. He greeted them in a fluent, sharp Common-

"My Lord, my lady. Welcome. I trust you both had a pleasant journey?"

Rose tapped her foot impatiently for abit then kicked the gate a bit and it moved ajar. It had been open the whole time, she wanted to kick herself for being so stupid. She turned to the 'chef' and spoke in a cold remark "Don't you have a servants door that you can get in by?" With that she took a few a steps forward and opened up the gate and walked in pulling along her horse.

just ahead she could see some people entering the building and instantly recognized one of them. "Anastazi.." She whispered to herself and then took a quick look around, but where was the sister? It took a few moments to register that the woman riding along Anastazi was the sister, she tipped her hat lower and mumbled to herslf some more. "Ofcourse women have to do what there told infront of men of power." It came off as more of statement of annoyance but knew one heard so it didn't really matter. The horse hoof beats where making a sounds against the the ground, which Rose wish wasn't so loud. If she was recognized now and was found to have some connection with the west she could be seen as biased and that was reason enough to have her removed. She sighed inwardly to herself, things never went as there suppose to.

Making her way to the meeting, Kadoria was grateful for the brisk walk. It wasn't as if it was a trial or anything, she merely wished to make sure she didn't miss the engagement that the guild had been so kind as to arrange for her. The princesses' package was in the bag and she would see finding a servant after it was all over with to get it back to it's owner. It was after all quite expensive.

She brushed a hand through her long black hair, letting it fall attractively around her shoulders. Something beautiful to look at always meant better tips, her boy guise was after all just if she wanted to blend in for a bit. Tonight she would give a 'show'. Walking forward, her dress, swished around her ankles provoctively but not terribly so. Kadoria looked as if she was what she indeed was, a bard. Her lute was strapped to her back for the moment, tho she didn't require it. She could sing acapella if need be just as well as with an instrument, in fact it was one of her prefferred 'instruments'.

She glanced ahead and saw two nobles as well as a woman in the dress of an arbitor. More and more interesting, it seemed this was a rather important meeting. Kadoria was certain something interesting would come of the whle thing. The nobles seemed as they were want , proud of themselves tho something struck her about the woman, or rather girl. She couldn't have been more than 16 but the man beside her did not seem her husband, more perhaps her brother? It was none of her business really, so she continued on. Intent on finding her place, passing a young man, carrying a vegtable tray, what was he doing here and not entering through the servants entrance?

She shrugged it off and went towards the doors but remained way from the 'blood' as was proper , towards the servants entrance and waited to be allowed in. Simply waiting behind the arbitor. Hoping that this job would pay well enough for her fees and a place to stay for a while without Kadoria worrying about where her next meal would come from.

"My Lord, my lady. Welcome. I trust you both had a pleasant journey?"

Anastazi smiled at the man who greeted them and replied in the same language, "Yes, we have indeed. A bit hurried, but nonetheless refreshing. I am Lord Anastazi De Mournay, ambassador of King Alessander. And this fine lady is my sister, Serefina de Mournay. Have the other parties arrived yet?"

His eyes swept unobtrusively over the man and the hallway behind him. It was indeed an impressive building...he would have a look around once the important proceedengs had passed.
