For the past three years, I have been writing a book. I've rewritten it several times, and then ended up wanting to make it into a movie script. I've done several scenes, but as I read what I've done, I got to wondering about something.
But before I can go into that, I need to give you some information. The movie's intro starts many years into the future with a man talking about something that happened and something's that's going to happen. It is very vague, yet very compelling. The movie's opening credits will roll, and then it will be back in present day, telling the story of the events that led up to the introduction (I'll type up the intro later today, actually. It's nifty and I don't mind sharing it as a teaser), and then continues on past the introduction to the climax of the flick.
What I need to know is if you would rather see a movie narrated by the main character (think Fight Club), or just let the events unfold as the would?
I want to make this a spectacular piece of work!

Here is the intro. If you catch the "Equilibrium" reference, give yourself awesome points. Also, I have a somewhat unique style of scripting. It shouldn't be hard to figure out, though. Let me know if it'd spike your interest if you saw it as a trailer, or just what you'd think in general!
Edit: Oh, and I'm aware that it leaves a lot of things unanswered and creates a lot of questions . . . I intended that. Trust me: I've planned it all out verrry carefully. ninja
SCENE ONE: INTRO AND OPENING CREDITS
Black screen. Silence for five full seconds. Voice breaks silence.
[KYLE (VOICE ONLY)]: “Existence [pause]: we all have it, but do we truly live it out to the fullest, thinking about how our actions will affect the future?”
Picture fade in: crowded city streets, bustling people. Begin outward zoom to show cityscape.
[KYLE (VOICE ONLY)]: “For many, life is just moving from day to day, following the same routine. Nothing extraordinary ever happens and we all take our existence for granted, and yet it takes exactly that—something extraordinary—to make us realize just how fragile—how trivial—our existence really is. In this case, such an event has occurred, and it has touched the life of every single being on the planet.” End zoom, showing Earth. Rotate to show the Pacific Ocean. Small explosion sends a shockwave over the planet, ending a flash. Flash clears, showing the planet covered in dark clouds, turbulent waters, and ravaging storms. Zoom into the surface. A former city, now broken and in shambles. Video camera flickers, REC appears in corner of screen. Static clears, showing a tattered Kyle.
[KYLE]: “Who am I? I am a survivor [pause, troubled sigh] . . . No, no . . . I am not survivor—I am a catalyst. I was the catalyst that helped create this damned world. I am the cause, and I will be the end.” [HARVEY (OFFSCREEN)]: “Sir! We’re ready!”
[KYLE (LOOKING TO THE SIDE)]: “Good. Wait for me. I will be there shortly.”
[HARVEY (OFFSCREEN)]: “Yes, Sir!”
[KYLE]: “The truth must be told. What good it will do is doubtful, but I must make it known. If this mission is successful, I will . . . I will probably perish carrying it out. It is a heavy cost. I pay it gladly. The mistakes made must never be repeated . . . for the sake of all humanity. My name is Kyle, and this is my tale.”
Camera returns to static, REC blips, then disappears. Cut to opening credits, music, title.
